Stairlift Service Across Deaf Smith County

Deaf Smith County, TX

From Hereford North — the suburban grid of 1960s and 1970s ranches between U.S. 60 and the city limits — to Hereford Northwest with its newer single-story homes, our installers know the housing stock block by block. The Knob Hill subdivision off Country Club Drive has the larger ranch-style homes with attached garages. The La Plata Historic District around the original 1880s county-seat blocks has older homes with narrower stairwells and original wood floors. The Tierra Blanca area off Avenue K runs to small bungalows and apartments. Most of Hereford's housing stock is single-story, but the 25 Mile Avenue corridor and the older homes near the courthouse have back-porch rises and upper-bedroom stairs where stairlifts make all the difference.

Hereford North ranch — straight rail on original oak treads to upper hallway

Hereford North, TX Installed March 2026

A 1962 Hereford North ranch with 12 dark oak treads rising from the foyer to the upper bedroom hallway — original hardwood from the day the house was built. Mrs. Jaramillo had been sleeping on the downstairs sofa after a slip near the bottom step. We confirmed the treads could accept mounting hardware without splitting and installed Thursday morning. The beige seat parks at the bottom of the stairs, folded flat against the wall.

La Plata Historic District two-story — curved rail through the upper-landing turn

La Plata Historic District, TX Installed February 2026

A 1928 two-story near the original La Plata county-seat blocks with a 90-degree turn at the upper landing. We laser-scanned the geometry and fabricated a 21-foot curved rail that bends around the half-wall. The brown-upholstered seat parks at the top landing under a small chandelier. Mr. Cardenas rides from the entry foyer to the upper bedrooms without transferring.

Tierra Blanca area bungalow — compact straight rail in a narrow stone-tile stairwell

Tierra Blanca area, TX Installed January 2026

A small 1950s bungalow off Avenue K in the Tierra Blanca area with a 30-inch-wide stairwell and stone-tile treads at the base. We specified the slim-profile rail and a brown-upholstered seat that tucks against a wooden sideboard at the foot of the stairs. The compact layout leaves 19 inches of clear passage for the grandchildren. A potted plant on the sideboard was the only thing we moved during the install.

Hereford Northwest raised entry — outdoor stairlift on stone front steps

Hereford Northwest, TX Installed December 2025

Mr. Brennan's Hereford Northwest home has rough natural stone paving at the front entry and four steps up to the covered porch — dangerous after his service-connected knee injury. We mounted a cream-colored weather-resistant seat on an outdoor-rated rail with sealed IP55 motor housing and brush-style dust seals on the track. His VA HISA grant covered $6,800 of the install cost.

Knob Hill ranch — straight rail on carpeted treads to upper landing

Knob Hill, TX Installed November 2025

A Knob Hill ranch off Country Club Drive with 13 carpeted treads running from the tiled entry foyer up to the upper-floor landing. Mrs. Donovan's daughter had been driving over every weekend to help her mother reach the upstairs bedroom. The brown-upholstered seat blends with the warm carpet tones, and the folding footrest keeps the landing clear. Installed Wednesday, tested Thursday — first weekend in months the daughter hadn't worried.

25 Mile Avenue corridor — indoor wheelchair platform lift for retired feedyard manager

25 Mile Avenue corridor, TX Installed October 2025

Mr. Padilla uses a wheelchair full-time after a workplace injury at a Hereford feedyard and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the indoor stairway of his split-entry home off 25 Mile Avenue — flat black anti-slip deck, yellow safety edges, wall-mounted white handrail. It folds flat and carries up to 600 lb. His Texas STAR+PLUS waiver covered the install.

Common Questions

Everything Hereford Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Hereford right now?

Straight rails for back-porch steps or upper-bedroom stairs in standard Hereford homes — Hereford North ranches, Knob Hill, single-story homes with raised entries — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for the rare two-story home or split-level run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is custom-fabricated. Outdoor lifts for raised back porches run $4,000 to $7,500 with dust-sealed hardware. All quotes include installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are there hidden fees on a Deaf Smith County install?

No. The written quote includes equipment, installation labor, electrical hookup to an existing 120V outlet, programmed remotes, the first service visit, and removal of all packaging. Items not included: dedicated-circuit electrical work (occasionally needed in pre-1960 La Plata Historic District homes) and HOA paperwork fees if your subdivision has them. Both are itemized on the quote before you sign.

Do you charge extra for HOA-controlled subdivisions in Hereford?

No. The quote includes HOA paperwork preparation. The federal Fair Housing Act (42 USC 3604(f)(3)(A)) requires HOAs to allow reasonable accommodations for disabled residents. We draft the accommodation request letter, include the physician documentation, and submit it to the HOA on your behalf. Most Hereford HOAs approve within two weeks.

Will my Hereford home insurance cover any of this?

Most standard Texas homeowner policies do not cover stairlifts as durable medical equipment, but a few carriers offer accessibility riders. Check your policy or call your agent. More commonly, the IRS treats the install as a qualified medical expense — with a physician letter (we provide the template), households that itemize on Schedule A typically recover $600 to $2,400 depending on bracket. Texas has no state income tax, so the federal deduction is the only tax benefit.

A word from Luis

Most Hereford calls come after harvest season ends. A retired feedyard manager off 25 Mile Avenue whose knees are done. A widow in a 1962 ranch in Hereford North whose son drives in from Amarillo every Sunday because she can't manage the stairs to her bedroom anymore. A veteran near the La Plata Historic District who needs the lift before his next appointment at the Thomas E. Creek VA in Amarillo.

Here is how it works: I drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once with a laser, and give you a written quote good for 30 days. No pressure, no upsells. Hereford has more bilingual households than almost any town in the Panhandle — I work in English and Spanish every single day.
