Stairlift Service Across Ellis County

Ellis County, KS

I work across every Hays neighborhood, and each has its own stair pattern. The Chestnut Street Historic District bungalows have narrow 32-inch treads and original oak — folding footrests are mandatory. Fort Hays-area ranches built in the 1960s have straight basement runs averaging 13 feet. Big Creek and Golden Belt split-levels almost always need a curved rail because of the half-landing turn. Prairie Acres and the Frontier Park Area homes built after 1985 often have wider 36-inch stairs that fit any rail. Western Plains ranches near 27th Street tend to be single-story but with garage steps that benefit from short outdoor units. Wherever you are in Hays, freeze-thaw cycles between November and March mean rail expansion joints matter more here than in milder climates.

Common Questions

Everything Hays Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

How much does a stairlift cost in Hays, KS?

Straight stairlifts in Hays start at $2,800 installed. Curved rails for the half-landing turns common in Big Creek split-levels start at $9,000. Outdoor units for Western Plains porches start at $4,000, and 600 lb heavy-duty units start at $5,050. Final price depends on rail length and turn count.

Is financing available for Hays families?

Yes. We offer financing from $79/month with approved credit. Most Ellis County families finance the curved units because the upfront cost is higher; straight rails are usually paid outright or split over 12-24 months.

Are there hidden fees on a Hays stairlift install?

No. The quote you get on the in-home visit includes the rail, seat, motor, battery backup, install labor, and a 5-year warranty. The only add-on is a powered swivel seat, which we'll quote separately if you want it.

How long does a stairlift last in the Hays climate?

Properly maintained, 10-15 years. The freeze-thaw cycles between November and March are harder on outdoor units than indoor ones; we recommend annual lubrication for outdoor rails and every-2-year service for indoor.

A word from Luis

Hays homes split into three groups in my install notebook. The Chestnut Street District bungalows north of 8th Street have 32-inch stair widths and original oak treads from the 1910s — those need a low-profile rail bracket so the seat doesn't graze the wall on the swing-up. The 1960s ranches around Fort Hays State sit on slab with a finished basement, and the basement run is usually 13 to 14 feet straight.

The newer split-levels out toward Prairie Acres and the Frontier Park area have 90-degree turns at the upper landing, which means a curved rail every time. I tell every Hays family the same thing: tornado season runs March through June, so we test the battery backup on every install — when the power drops mid-storm, the chair still gets you to the basement.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Hays families from the Chestnut Street District to the newer Prairie Acres subdivisions need stairlifts that handle short, intense Kansas winters and tornado-season power outages. Every install I do here gets battery backup tested twice and a freeze-rated lubricant on the rail.

If you live in Hays or anywhere in Ellis County, call for a free in-home assessment. I measure your treads, check your turn geometry, and give you a written quote on the spot — no high-pressure pitch, no surprise fees on install day.
