Stairlift Service Across Wayne County

Wayne County, MI

Harper Woods is a tight inner-ring grid between Detroit and the Grosse Pointes, and almost every block has the same 1950s postwar bones. The Beaconsfield Street blocks south of Vernier hold the smallest 30-31 inch stairs and fit a straight rail without trim modification. The Lochmoor Drive ranches have wider geometry and standard rail clearances. The Fleetwood Drive and Danbury Lane two-stories have the upper-landing turn that needs a curved rail. Brys Park and Beaconfield Park borders see slightly newer ranches with mixed stair widths. The Eastland corridor near 8 Mile holds the renter-heavy two-flats where Fair Housing Act modifications are most common, and the blocks bordering Eastpointe and St. Clair Shores have the older 1948-1952 housing stock that often needs masonry-anchor work on tile entry stairs.

Common Questions

Everything Harper Woods Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift typically cost in Harper Woods, MI?

A straight stairlift in a Beaconsfield Street ranch with a 13-14 ft rail starts at $2,800 installed. A curved rail for a Fleetwood Drive two-story runs $9,000-$13,500 because the rail is bent to the specific upper-landing geometry. Outdoor lifts off side porches start at $4,000.

Is financing available for Harper Woods homeowners?

Yes. We offer financing from $79/month with no prepayment penalty. Most Harper Woods customers on fixed Social Security choose the 60-month plan, which keeps a curved-rail install under $200/month after a small down payment.

Are there hidden fees in a Wayne County stairlift quote?

No. Our Harper Woods quote includes the rail, the seat, the in-home survey, the install labor, removal of any existing chairlift, the 5-year parts warranty, and the lifetime rail warranty. Wayne County does not require a residential stairlift permit.

Can I save money buying a used stairlift in Harper Woods?

We do not recommend it. Lake-effect humidity and freeze-thaw cycles corrode the gear rack on units stored in unheated garages, and most second-hand rails are cut to the original home's stair geometry. A re-fitting almost always costs more than the savings, and the warranty does not transfer.

A word from Luis

Harper Woods is a 1950s postwar grid — almost every house has 2 or 3 bedrooms, narrow 30-32 inch stairs, and original oak treads. The Beaconsfield and Lochmoor blocks fit a straight rail without modification. The slightly larger two-stories along Fleetwood and Danbury have an upper-landing turn that needs a curved rail. The renter share runs about 34 percent here, which means I write Fair Housing Act reasonable-modification letters almost every week.

The two real constraints in Harper Woods are lake-effect snow off Lake St. Clair and freeze-thaw cycles that run from November through March. I never spec salt-air gaskets here — they are wrong for inland conditions. Freeze-rated seals and IP55 housings handle the actual climate. Most of my Detroit-VA paperwork goes through John D. Dingell VAMC on John R Street, about ten miles southwest.

— Luis Ramírez, Harper Woods
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

A straight Harper Woods install runs 3-4 hours, a curved rail runs a full day, and an outdoor unit adds another half-day for freeze-rated sealing. We schedule outdoor work between April and October so the gasket cures before the first lake-effect storm, and we keep replacement batteries stocked for Beaconsfield and Lochmoor customers because freeze-thaw power outages are predictable here.

If you want a fixed quote on a Harper Woods staircase, send a phone photo of the top and bottom landings plus a tape measurement of the narrowest tread. We will tell you which rail fits, what it will cost, and whether MI Choice Waiver, HISA, or a Fair Housing Act 42 USC 3604(f)(3)(A) modification request applies.
