Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Grafton County

Grafton County, NH

Hanover is two distinct settlement patterns. The downtown core around Dartmouth — Rope Ferry, Rip Road, Greensboro Road and the streets behind Main — holds early-1900s faculty colonials with steep, narrow staircases that often need a curved rail to clear the half-landing. Storrs Pond on the north side is a quieter mix of mid-century ranches and 1970s contemporaries — straight rails install in a morning. East and uphill, Etna and Hanover Center hold the town's pre-1850 capes and federals on the Parade Ground, plus 19th-century farmhouses along Etna Highlands with original pine treads barely 30 inches wide. Throughout town, Connecticut River valley freeze-thaw means every outdoor install gets stainless hardware and a sealed cover.

Storrs Pond — straight rail on original oak treads

Storrs Pond, NH Installed February 2026

1968 ranch off the Storrs Pond loop with the original oak treads and a 13-foot straight run. The rail bolted directly to the treads, the beige seat sits at the bottom landing, and the swivel at the top puts Mr. Whitman onto the second-floor hallway without any transfer. Done before lunch.

Rope Ferry, NH Installed March 2026

Early-1900s shingled faculty colonial off Rope Ferry with a steep, narrow staircase and a 90-degree quarter-turn at the half-landing. We laser-measured the curve, shop-bent the rail to track the wall, and parked the brown seat at the upper landing under the original brass pendant. The original wide-board treads were untouched.

Greensboro Road, NH Installed December 2025

1970s contemporary off Greensboro Road with a carpeted half-flight up to the bedroom level. The brown upholstery matches the existing taupe carpet, and the seat height was set to clear the runner without crushing the pile. The runner is still pristine under the rail brackets.

Common Questions

Everything Hanover Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a straight stairlift cost installed in Hanover?

From $2,800 for a standard straight rail on a 12–14 ft run, fully installed with battery backup and a 5-year warranty. Most Storrs Pond ranches and 1970s contemporaries fall in that range. Quote is fixed after measuring.

Why does a curved rail cost more on Rope Ferry or in Hanover Center?

The early-1900s faculty colonials on Rope Ferry and the 1761 capes around Hanover Center almost always have a quarter-turn at the half-landing. Curved rails are laser-measured and shop-bent for that one staircase, so they start at $9,000. The rail is one-of-one.

Does the price include removing the lift later?

Yes. When the lift is no longer needed we remove the rail, fill the tread holes with matching wood filler, and haul the unit away. No charge for residents in Hanover, Etna or anywhere in Grafton County.

What financing options are available?

Financing starts at $79/month with approved credit on a straight rail. Nothing is due until the lift is tested, ridden by you, and signed off.

A word from Luis

Hanover splits cleanly into two housing populations. Downtown around Rope Ferry, Greensboro Road and Rip Road is mostly faculty homes — early-1900s colonials, some shingled and some brick, with steep narrow staircases. Up in Etna and Hanover Center the houses are older and farther apart: 1761 capes on the Parade Ground, 19th-century farmhouses on Etna Highlands, the kind of pine-tread staircase you cannot widen.

Winter is the hardest variable here. Connecticut River valley freeze-thaw is brutal — porch concrete heaves every March. Outdoor installs get stainless hardware and a sealed weather cover. Battery backup is standard because Eversource lines come down at least twice a winter on Goose Pond Road.
