Stairlift Service Across Luzerne County

Luzerne County, PA

Hanover Township covers 12 villages between Wilkes-Barre and Nanticoke, and the housing stock changes block by block. Lee Park and Hanover Green still hold rows of pre-1920 anthracite-era doubles with narrow 32-inch treads and a quarter-turn at the half-landing — those almost always need a curved rail or a custom straight with a transfer station. Askam and Lower Askam are mid-century ranches and Cape Cods on slab; straight rails go in fast there. Buttonwood, Lyndwood and Newtown mix postwar splits with newer infill — carpeted half-flights are the norm, so we set the seat height to clear the runner.

Straight

Askam — straight rail on original oak treads

Askam, PA Installed January 2026

Postwar ranch on a quiet Askam side street with the original 1948 oak treads and a 13-foot straight run. The rail bolted directly to the treads — no wall fasteners — and the beige seat sits at the bottom landing where Mr. Novak transfers from his hall walker. We finished by lunch.

Lee Park — curved rail around the half-landing turn

Lee Park, PA Installed February 2026

1912 double on a Lee Park corner lot with the classic anthracite-era half-landing. We laser-measured the 90-degree turn, shop-bent the rail to track the wall side, and parked the brown seat at the upper landing under the 1920s pendant fixture. The half-wall stayed untouched.

Buttonwood — compact straight rail in a 1920s cottage

Buttonwood, PA Installed November 2025

Tight 1920s cottage off Lyndwood Avenue with stone-and-tile foyer treads and a wooden sideboard at the foot of the stairs. The brown seat parks at the bottom near the cabinet, leaving the entry hall clear for the family dog. Compact-footprint kit so the seat folds flat against the wall.

Newtown — IP55 outdoor rail on a freeze-thaw porch

Newtown, PA Installed October 2025

Side-entry porch on a 1930s Newtown twin with rough stone paving and four years of freeze-thaw heaving. We set a stainless leveling plate under the base bracket, sealed every fastener, and ran a sealed weather cover over the seat. Cream upholstery is UV-rated for direct sun.

Hanover Green — carpeted half-flight in a postwar split

Hanover Green, PA Installed December 2025

Postwar split-level off South Main with a carpeted half-flight up to the bedrooms. We set the seat height to clear the runner without compressing the pile, and the brown upholstery matches the existing taupe carpet so the lift reads as part of the staircase, not a piece of equipment.

Common Questions

Everything Hanover (Luzerne County) Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a straight stairlift cost installed in Hanover Township?

From $2,800 for a standard straight rail on a 12-14 ft run, fully installed with battery backup and a 5-year warranty. Most Askam, Buttonwood and Lower Askam ranches fall in that range. We give a fixed quote after measuring — no add-ons later.

Why does a curved rail cost more in Lee Park or Hanover Green?

The pre-1920 doubles in Lee Park and Hanover Green almost always have a quarter-turn at the half-landing. Curved rails are laser-measured and shop-bent for that exact staircase, so they start at $9,000. The rail is one-of-one — it cannot be reused.

Does the price include removing the lift later?

Yes. When the lift is no longer needed we remove the rail, patch the tread holes with matching wood filler, and haul the unit away. No charge for residents in Hanover Township or anywhere in Luzerne County.

Are there financing options if I cannot pay upfront?

Financing starts at $79/month with approved credit on a straight rail. We also stage payment so nothing is due until the lift is tested and you sign off on the install.

A word from Luis

I have surveyed stairs in every one of Hanover Township's 12 villages. Lee Park and Hanover Green still have a lot of the early-1900s anthracite-era doubles — narrow treads, shallow risers, and that quirky middle-landing that throws off generic kits. Askam and Buttonwood swing the other way: postwar splits with carpeted half-flights to the bedrooms.

Freeze-thaw is real here. Front-porch concrete heaves, side doors stick in February, and any outdoor rail has to be sealed for that. We do not bolt aluminum to brick that is shedding mortar — we anchor to the wood treads and the stringer, period. Tell me your address and the year the house was built and I can usually quote within ten minutes.

Call or send a photo of your stairs. If a straight rail will not work for your turn, I will tell you that on the first call — not after a deposit.
