Stairlift Service Across Nevada County

Nevada County, CA

Grass Valley sits in Nevada County's Sierra Nevada foothills at 2,400 ft, and the housing pattern shifts block by block. Downtown's Mill Street and Boston Ravine hold tightly packed 1860s-1880s gold-rush cottages with narrow 28-30 inch tread widths and stringers we can only side-mount. Alta Hill and Glenbrook above the historic core run to mid-century split-levels with short straight runs and concrete entry steps. Alta Sierra south on Highway 49 is 1960s-1990s ranch and custom homes around the golf course — wide treads, often a 90-degree turn at a half-landing where we drop a curved rail. Brunswick Basin and Cherry Creek Acres on the east side are post-2000 subdivisions with code-built stairs and predictable installs. We also serve Cedar Ridge, Peardale, and the unincorporated pockets toward Nevada City.

Common Questions

Everything Grass Valley Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Grass Valley?

A straight rail in a Boston Ravine or Alta Hill home runs $2,800-$4,200 installed for a 12-14 ft rise. Curved rails for the split-landing homes in Alta Sierra and Glenbrook start at $9,000 and scale with turn count. Outdoor lifts for the hillside porches near Mill Street start at $4,000.

Are there hidden fees if I live up a steep driveway in Alta Sierra?

No. Our quote includes the in-home measure, the unit, the rail, the install labor, and a 5-year warranty plus lifetime rail. We do not charge travel fees within Nevada County, and we do not surcharge foothill or grade-access homes.

Can I finance a stairlift on a fixed income?

Yes. Through our financing partner, qualified Grass Valley buyers start at $79/month with 0% APR promotional terms. Approval typically lands within 24 hours and does not require home equity.

Is there an annual maintenance cost?

Plan on roughly $150-$200/year for a tune-up: gear lubrication, battery test, safety sensor calibration. Battery packs typically last 4-5 years and run $180 to replace. We service everything we install.

A word from Luis

I have measured stairs in Grass Valley homes for over fifteen years. The hardest installs in this town are the 1870s gold-rush Victorians around the Original Townsite — narrow treads, steep rises, and stair stringers that were nailed into pine that has been drying out since Ulysses Grant was president. We mount into the treads themselves, not the wall, because the lath-and-plaster on those exterior walls cannot carry the load.

Out in Alta Sierra and along Brunswick Basin, the homes are newer but the driveways are steep and the foothill grade means a lot of split-level entries. I show up with a laser level and a moisture meter, not a sales pitch. If your stairs do not fit a stairlift, I will tell you that the first visit and save you the deposit.

— Luis Ramírez, Grass Valley
