Stairlift Service Across Galveston County

Galveston County, TX

From the raised Victorians of the East End Historic District — where every exterior install requires Galveston Historical Foundation approval and we handle the application — to the grand Broadway homes of Silk Stocking with their curved staircases and century-old millwork, to the post-Ike rebuilt beach homes on the West End with FEMA-compliant raised foundations and exterior stairs, our team knows every staircase pattern on the island. We know which Midtown cottages have the narrow treads that require a compact rail, which San Jacinto duplexes have the raised-slab entry exposed to full salt air, and which Seawall District properties demand marine-grade hardware on every fastener.

1895 East End Victorian — rail color-matched to original longleaf pine banister

East End Historic District, TX Installed March 2026

An 1895 raised Victorian in the East End Historic District with original longleaf pine banisters and a steep interior staircase. Mrs. Schreiber's family has owned the home since the 1940s, and she was clear that nothing could touch the original woodwork. We brought finish samples, matched the rail to the pine grain, and bolted into the existing dark hardwood treads without touching a spindle. The beige seat sits unfolded at the bottom of the open-tread staircase, and the rail rides the right side of the straight run. The salt-air-rated hardware is standard — even for indoor installs on the island, because Galveston's humidity carries salt through every open window.

Curved

Curved rail through a Silk Stocking Broadway Victorian staircase

Silk Stocking, TX Installed February 2026

A Broadway Victorian in the Silk Stocking neighborhood with a grand curved staircase, a mid-landing turn, and original cypress millwork. A straight rail was impossible. We digitally scanned the staircase geometry, custom-fabricated a curved rail that bends around the half-wall at the upper landing, and installed in a single afternoon. The brown-upholstered chair parks at the upper floor landing and Mrs. Canfield swivels 90° to step off onto the hallway floor. Framed art and the chandelier above remain untouched.

Compact rail in a cozy Midtown cottage — stone treads, wooden sideboard

Midtown, TX Installed January 2026

A 1950s cottage in Midtown with stone-tile treads and a compact stairway between the living area and upstairs bedrooms. The brown-upholstered seat sits at the bottom of the stairs next to a wooden sideboard cabinet with a potted plant — the cozy traditional interior didn't lose an inch of its character. We fitted a slim-profile rail on the treads, and the folding footrest tucks the lift flush when parked. Mrs. Trevino walks past it to the kitchen without brushing the rail.

Hurricane-rated outdoor rail for a FEMA-elevated West End beach home

West End, TX Installed December 2025

A post-Ike rebuild on the West End with a FEMA-compliant raised foundation and stone-paved entry steps from the driveway to the covered porch. Mr. Nguyen is a veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the Houston VA. We prefilled the paperwork, the prescription came back in five weeks, and the lift was installed before the next hurricane season. The cream-colored seat rides up the rough natural stone paving in full daylight, with a carpeted outdoor tread at the bottom landing. Every fastener is 316-stainless, the rail is marine-grade epoxy coated, and the weather-sealed motor housing carries an IP55 rating.

San Jacinto carpeted stairs — swivel-exit seat for safer top-landing step-off

San Jacinto, TX Installed November 2025

A two-story duplex in San Jacinto with 13 carpeted treads and a narrow newel post at the bottom. The brown-upholstered seat blends with the carpet tones on the landing, and wall-mounted light switches sit just above the rail line. Mrs. Alvarez's primary worry was stepping off at the top — she had watched her sister fall there two years earlier. We installed the swivel-exit seat that rotates 90° at the upper landing, so she stands on the tiled hallway floor instead of the top step. The battery backup kept the lift running during a four-hour outage from a tropical storm in September.

Platform Lift

Indoor wheelchair platform for a Seawall District raised-slab home

Seawall District, TX Installed October 2025

The Castillo family's mother uses a power wheelchair and needed access between the garage level and the main living area in their raised-slab home near the seawall — a half-flight of six indoor steps. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat black anti-slip deck and high-visibility yellow safety edges along the platform border. The white handrail runs the length of the indoor stairway, and the orange-toned walls and nearby window give the space warm natural light. STAR+PLUS through UnitedHealthcare covered the majority of the installation cost. She rolls onto the platform, rides up, rolls off — no transfers required.

Common Questions

Everything Galveston Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost on Galveston Island right now?

Straight rails in standard Galveston homes — the Midtown cottages, the San Jacinto duplexes, the West End beach homes — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for Silk Stocking Victorians, East End historic homes, and any staircase with a turn run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact geometry. Outdoor models for raised entries, seawall-side porches, and FEMA-elevated homes run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote includes salt-air-rated hardware, battery backup, and the quick-release storm bracket.

Does the salt-air and hurricane hardware cost extra?

No. Every Galveston install ships with 316-stainless fasteners, marine-grade epoxy rail coating, and the quick-release seat bracket as standard. These are Galveston defaults, not upgrades. The island's environment destroys any component that isn't salt-rated, and a storm bracket that lets you carry the motor upstairs ahead of surge is not optional on a barrier island.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift safe on a salt-air island?

For straight indoor staircases, a certified refurbished unit with new batteries and new upholstery works fine — the indoor environment is controlled. For outdoor installs or any home within 500 feet of the seawall, we strongly recommend new equipment with factory-fresh salt-air-rated components. If your Galveston home has a standard indoor straight run, ask about refurbished inventory during the assessment.

Does the East End Historic District add cost?

For interior installs, no — historic review only applies to exterior-visible work. If you need an outdoor rail on a contributing structure in the East End Historic District, we handle the Galveston Historical Foundation application at no charge. Review typically takes 2-4 weeks. The install hardware and rail finish are specified to meet the district's visual guidelines, and that spec is included in your standard quote.

A word from Luis

Most Galveston families call me after a storm has already made the decision for them — a parent stranded upstairs during a power outage, a raised Victorian where the porch steps became impassable after Ike or Harvey, a homeowner who's been carrying groceries up to a second-floor apartment since last hurricane season because the elevator never came back online.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.
