Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Middlesex County

Middlesex County, NJ

From Clara Barton — tree-lined streets of Cape Cods and Colonial Revivals where narrow original stair runs are the biggest installation challenge — to North Edison near J.P. Stevens High School, where 1960s bi-levels with mid-landing turns are the most common staircase we measure, our team has mapped every section of the township. We know which Menlo Park colonials need a slim-profile rail to preserve the formal foyer, which Oak Tree Road multigenerational households need a heavy-duty model for a bariatric wheelchair user, and which Stelton and Nixon split-levels have the 90-degree landing that only a custom curved rail can handle. We also staff dedicated coverage for Metuchen, South Plainfield, Iselin, and Fords — so you never wait on a tech driving down from North Jersey.

Straight

North Edison colonial — straight rail on original hardwood oak treads

North Edison, NJ Installed March 2026

A 1972 colonial near J.P. Stevens High School with original oak treads and a walnut-stained banister that Mrs. Patel’s late husband had refinished himself in the 1990s. Her son called from Princeton after she stopped going upstairs following a fall on the landing. We measured the straight run — 14 feet from foyer to second floor — bolted the rail directly into the oak treads without touching the banister or the wall, and color-matched the rail finish to the existing walnut stain. The seat folds flat against the wall when parked at the bottom.

Clara Barton split-level — curved rail around a 90° mid-landing

Clara Barton, NJ Installed February 2026

A 1963 split-level in the Clara Barton section with the classic Middlesex County staircase problem: six steps from the foyer to the main level, a 90-degree landing, then eight more steps up to the bedrooms. We laser-scanned the entire run, fabricated a single curved rail that carries Mrs. DiNapoli from the foyer to the upstairs hallway in one continuous ride, and added a swivel-exit seat at the top so she steps off onto level floor. The 60-year-old foundation had settled about a quarter inch on the lower flight — we shimmed the rail brackets to compensate.

Stelton cottage — straight rail alongside exposed stone wall

Stelton, NJ Installed January 2026

A 1940s cottage in the Stelton section with an exposed fieldstone wall along the staircase and narrow treads that measured only 26 inches across. Mrs. Brennan is 79 and had been sleeping on the couch downstairs for two months after her hip replacement at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. We specified the slim-rail model — only 11 inches from wall to outer edge of the folded seat — bolted the track into the original stone treads, and ran a clean power line to the nearest outlet six feet away. The stone wall stays untouched.

Outdoor

Menlo Park entry — weather-sealed outdoor lift on stone paving steps

Menlo Park, NJ Installed December 2025

A 1955 ranch-style home in the Menlo Park section with a raised front entry, five exterior stone paving steps, and no handrail on either side. Mr. Kowalski is a Korean War veteran, 91 years old, who qualified for a HISA grant through the Piscataway VA Outpatient Clinic. The outdoor rail is mounted directly into the stone treads with stainless-steel masonry anchors, sealed against NJ humidity, and coated for UV and road salt spray. The cream-colored seat sits at the porch landing with a weather cover for nor’easter season.

Oak Tree bi-level — straight rail on wall-to-wall carpeted stairs

Oak Tree, NJ Installed November 2025

A 1967 bi-level off Oak Tree Road where three generations live under one roof. Mr. Sharma’s mother, 84, had stopped coming downstairs because the carpeted treads felt slippery. We bolted a standard straight rail through the carpet and pad directly into the plywood subfloor — the carpet sits flat around the brackets with no bunching or trip hazard. The brown-upholstered seat matches the carpet tones, and the folding footrest tucks against the wall so the grandchildren run up and down without obstruction.

Platform Lift

Nixon section — indoor wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Nixon, NJ Installed October 2025

A 1958 ranch-style home in the Nixon section where Mr. Grabowski, 76, uses a power wheelchair full-time after a stroke. A seated stairlift was not an option — he cannot transfer out of his chair safely. We installed an indoor inclined platform lift adjacent to the four-step rise between the sunken living room and the main hallway. The flat black anti-slip platform has high-visibility yellow safety edges on all sides, and an automatic gate that locks during travel. Mr. Grabowski rolls on, presses one button, and rolls off at the upper level.

Common Questions

Everything Edison Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Edison right now?

Straight rails in standard Edison homes — the colonials in North Edison, the bi-levels off Oak Tree Road, the Cape Cods in Clara Barton — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you’ll need for most 1960s split-levels with mid-landing turns in Clara Barton, Stelton, and Nixon, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised front entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Do prices change depending on which section of Edison I’m in?

Equipment prices are the same across the township — we don’t inflate quotes for North Edison addresses or discount for Nixon. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: the narrow 26-inch treads common in Stelton cottages that require a slim-rail model, the foundation-settled split-levels in Clara Barton where we shim brackets to compensate, and the stone-step outdoor mounts in the Menlo Park section that need masonry anchors. We tell you the line items upfront. No surprise add-ons on install day.

Is there a charge for the in-home assessment?

Zero. The home assessment is free, takes about 45 minutes, and comes with a written quote honored for 30 days. We laser-measure your staircase, check the electrical outlet situation (older Edison homes often lack an outlet within six feet of the stairs), and photograph the treads and landing for the fabrication team. If you need a curved rail, the digital scan happens during this same visit — no second appointment. No obligation, no deposit, no credit card.

Are there additional fees for condo or 55+ community installs?

Our quote includes the HOA paperwork we prepare for you. Under the NJ Law Against Discrimination and the federal Fair Housing Act, condo boards and HOAs must permit reasonable accessibility modifications. We’ve handled approvals in Edison’s condo complexes along Route 27, the 55+ communities near Menlo Park, and the Raritan Manor townhouse associations. The documentation packet and architectural drawings are included at no charge. If a board requires its own engineer’s letter (rare), we tell you before we start.

A word from Luis

Most Edison families call me after the same story — a parent slipped on the carpeted stairs of a 1960s split-level in Clara Barton, or a retired engineer in North Edison hasn’t been upstairs since his knee replacement, or a daughter in California phones about her mother alone in a bi-level off Oak Tree Road that was built for a young family, not a woman turning 83.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
