Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Barnstable County

Barnstable County, MA

East Sandwich stretches along Cape Cod Bay from Spring Hill — where 18th-century colonials off Route 6A have the steep, narrow staircases common to pre-Revolutionary construction — east through Scorton Shores, a 140-home beach community where many 1960s Cape and Ranch-style homes need straight-rail installs on carpeted or oak treads. Carleton Shores adds winding beachfront lanes with larger Colonials, and Sandwich Downs, platted in 1926, mixes year-round Capes with seasonal cottages. Ploughed Neck and the North Shore Boulevard corridor sit within a half-mile of the bay, where outdoor lifts on porch entries face salt-air exposure that calls for marine-grade sealing. We cover every lane from Scorton Creek to Sandy Neck.

Straight

Spring Hill Colonial — Straight Rail on Hardwood

Spring Hill, MA Installed March 2026

Built around 1790, this Route 6A colonial has the original wide-plank oak treads — beautiful but steep. The Whitfields needed a straight rail that wouldn't scar the historic wood. We bolted a beige straight-rail lift directly to the treads, seat parked at the bottom landing. No wall drilling. The rail follows the oak grain so closely the homeowners' daughter said it looked like it was always there.

Carleton Shores Cape — Curved Rail at Upper Landing

Carleton Shores, MA Installed February 2026

This 1920s Cape had been expanded three times, leaving a staircase with a 90-degree turn at the upper landing beneath a chandelier. The curved rail had to clear the fixture while hugging the half-wall. We laser-measured every angle, bent the rail off-site, and mounted it so the brown seat parks at the top floor landing. The chandelier stayed where it was — no adjustment needed.

Straight

Scorton Shores Ranch — Compact Straight Rail

Scorton Shores, MA Installed January 2026

A 1960s ranch off Hammond Road with stone-tile treads and a narrow staircase tucked between the kitchen and a wooden sideboard. The homeowners wanted the lift as unobtrusive as possible. We installed a brown straight-rail lift with the seat folding flat against the wall at the bottom. The rail clears the sideboard by two inches — tight, but it works.

Outdoor

North Shore Boulevard — Outdoor Lift on Bayfront Porch

East Sandwich Beach, MA Installed April 2026

This cottage sits 200 yards from Cape Cod Bay. The front porch has rough stone paving and takes the brunt of every nor'easter. We installed a cream-colored outdoor stairlift with marine-grade sealed rail joints and an IP55-rated motor housing. The rail is anchored into the stone treads with stainless hardware. A full winter later, the lift runs without a hitch despite salt spray and freeze-thaw cycles.

Sandwich Downs Cape — Straight Rail on Carpeted Stairs

Sandwich Downs, MA Installed May 2026

This 1940s Cape in Sandwich Downs has carpeted treads in a warm beige tone, matching the brown upholstered stairlift seat we installed. The staircase is standard-width with a tiled-floor base landing. The homeowners' father, 78, now uses the lift every morning to come down for coffee. The rail bolts through the carpet into the treads — secure, no snagging.

Platform Lift

Ploughed Neck Cape — Indoor Wheelchair Platform Lift

Ploughed Neck, MA Installed March 2026

A three-bedroom Cape off Ploughed Neck Road where the homeowners' adult son uses a wheelchair full-time. We installed an indoor inclined platform lift with a flat black deck and yellow safety edges along a straight staircase. The platform carries the wheelchair and rider up 13 feet in about 30 seconds. The HISA grant covered $6,800 of the cost through the Hyannis VA Clinic — we helped file the forms.

Common Questions

Everything East Sandwich Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in East Sandwich?

Straight stairlifts start at $2,800 installed. Curved rails run from $9,000 since each one is custom-bent to your staircase after a laser measurement. Outdoor lifts for East Sandwich beachside entries start at $4,000 with marine-grade sealing. Heavy-duty platform lifts start at $5,050. Every quote includes the in-home assessment, rail fabrication, installation, and a 5-year warranty with lifetime rail coverage.

Are there extra costs for installing on Cape Cod?

No travel fees or Cape surcharges. We're based locally and serve all of Barnstable County. The only variable is staircase complexity — a curved rail for a Spring Hill colonial with a 180-degree landing turn costs more than a straight rail in a Scorton Shores ranch, but you'll know the exact number after the free assessment, before you commit.

Do you offer financing for East Sandwich residents?

Yes — financing starts at $79/month through our partner program. We also walk you through Massachusetts-specific options like the HMLP (Home Modification Loan Program), which offers 0% interest, deferred-payment loans of up to $50,000 for accessibility modifications including stairlifts. No monthly payments; the loan is repaid when the property sells or transfers.

Does Medicare cover stairlift costs in Massachusetts?

Original Medicare does not cover stairlifts — they're classified as home modifications, not durable medical equipment. But MassHealth's Frail Elder Waiver can cover stairlifts and other accessibility modifications for eligible residents 60 and older who qualify for nursing-home level care. We help with the paperwork at no charge.

A word from Luis

I've been installing stairlifts across Cape Cod for over 15 years, and East Sandwich keeps me busiest. The housing stock here runs the full gamut — 1700s Spring Hill colonials with staircases barely 30 inches wide, 1960s Scorton Shores ranches where the staircase is the only thing between the bedrooms and the kitchen, and the beachside cottages along North Shore Boulevard where salt air chews through everything that isn't marine-grade.

On one Carleton Shores install last winter, we had to custom-bend a curved rail around a 180-degree landing turn in a 1920s Cape that had been added onto three times. Three hours on the laser measure, but the rail fit like it was born there. That's the kind of work East Sandwich homes demand — and what our crew shows up for.

— Luis Ramírez, East Sandwich
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

East Sandwich sits along Cape Cod Bay with a blend of architecture you won't find anywhere else on the Cape — 17th-century colonials along Old King's Highway, mid-century ranches in Scorton Shores, and modern beach homes perched above the dunes. Many of these homes have staircases that were built for a different era: steep, narrow, and unforgiving. A stairlift changes the math. It keeps you in the home you've had for 30 summers without turning the staircase into a daily gamble.

We handle the whole process — the free in-home assessment, the HMLP loan paperwork if you qualify, and the install itself, usually done inside a morning. If you're on the Cape year-round or just staying through the winter, give us a call and we'll come take a look.
