Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Barnstable County

Barnstable County, MA

From the 1940s-1960s Cape Cod cottages in Buzzards Bay — where steep half-story bedroom stairs with low knee-wall headers define the classic Cape layout — to the 1920s-1950s saltbox colonials in Pocasset and Cataumet with original hardwood treads and narrow enclosed stairwells, from the canal-side homes in Sagamore and Sagamore Beach with exposed-entry stoops that take the brunt of salt spray and nor'easters to the year-round and converted seasonal homes in Monument Beach with their mix of original and renovated staircases, our team has mapped every village in Bourne. We know which Buzzards Bay Capes have the attic-conversion stairs that need compact seats, which Pocasset colonials have the narrow stairwells that only fit slim-profile rails, and which Sagamore Beach homes need marine-grade stainless hardware because the salt air corrodes standard powder-coated brackets within three years. We cover all of Barnstable County and the South Coast without travel fees.

Straight

Buzzards Bay Cape — straight rail on steep half-story bedroom stairs

Buzzards Bay, MA Installed March 2026

A 1955 Cape Cod cottage in Buzzards Bay with the classic steep half-story bedroom stairs and a low knee-wall header at the top — only 73 inches of clearance. Mrs. Sullivan had stopped using the upstairs bedrooms after her hip replacement and was sleeping on the living room couch. We installed the compact-profile seat that clears the header by three inches, added a powered swivel at the top, and used marine-grade stainless fasteners on every bracket (standard on all Cape Cod installs). She is back in her own bedroom.

Pocasset colonial — curved rail around a tight switchback staircase

Pocasset, MA Installed February 2026

A 1930s saltbox colonial in Pocasset with a narrow switchback staircase — six steps up, a 180-degree turn at the landing, then seven more to the bedrooms. The original oak banister had to remain untouched. We laser-scanned the stairwell, fabricated a curved rail that carries from the front hall to the upper landing in one continuous ride, and added a swivel-exit seat at the top. MassHealth covered the full installation cost after clinical assessment.

Monument Beach — slim rail on narrow cottage staircase

Monument Beach, MA Installed January 2026

A converted year-round home in Monument Beach with a narrow cottage staircase measuring 29 inches wall-to-wall. Mrs. Pacheco is 84 and had been living exclusively on the ground floor for two years. We installed the slim-profile compact rail — the folded chair clears the opposite wall by four inches. Marine-grade stainless fasteners on every bracket. She uses the upstairs guest room for her grandchildren's weekend visits again.

Outdoor

Sagamore Beach — outdoor stoop lift with marine-grade hardware

Sagamore Beach, MA Installed November 2025

A canal-side home in Sagamore Beach with eight wooden entry steps facing the Cape Cod Canal. The salt spray corrodes standard hardware within two to three years. Mr. Medeiros is 81 and had fallen on the wet steps twice during nor'easters. We installed an outdoor stoop lift with marine-grade stainless hardware throughout, a weather-sealed motor housing, and a drain channel on the rail so salt residue and rain do not pool on the track. It ran through the entire 2025-2026 winter — including the February nor'easter — without a single issue.

Cataumet — color-matched rail on original 1920s hardwood treads

Cataumet, MA Installed October 2025

A 1928 Cataumet saltbox with original heart-pine treads and a formal banister that the homeowner insisted remain untouched. Mrs. Tavares wanted the rail to blend, not dominate. We specified the slim-profile rail in a dark walnut finish to match the heart pine, used countersunk stainless fasteners that sit flush with the tread surface, and positioned the lower park station behind the newel post. Her book club meets in the living room weekly and nobody has mentioned the lift.

Platform Lift

Bourne — HISA-funded platform lift for power wheelchair user

Bourne, MA Installed September 2025

A split-level ranch near the Bourne Bridge where the homeowner uses a power wheelchair after a service-connected injury. A seated stairlift was not an option — Mr. Kenney cannot safely transfer out of his chair. We installed an indoor vertical platform lift alongside the existing staircase with yellow ADA-compliant safety edges, a keyed lockout for child safety, and marine-grade stainless hardware on every exterior-facing bracket. The HISA grant through the VA Bedford Healthcare System covered $6,800. We prefilled VA Form 10-0103 and the prescription came back in four weeks.

Common Questions

Everything Bourne Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in the Bourne area right now?

Straight rails in standard Cape Cod homes — the Buzzards Bay cottages, the Pocasset colonials, the Monument Beach year-rounders — run $3,000 to $5,800 installed. Curved rails for homes with switchback staircases or L-shaped landings run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised entries and canal-side stoops run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Does the salt-air corrosion protection cost extra?

No. Every Bourne and coastal Barnstable County install ships with marine-grade stainless-steel fasteners and hot-dip galvanized bracket hardware as baseline. Standard powder-coated brackets corrode within three years in salt-air environments — we learned that lesson early on the Cape. The stainless hardware and neoprene isolation washers are standard on every coastal install, not an upcharge. For outdoor units, we add a weather-sealed housing with a drain channel so salt residue does not build up on the track.

Is Cape Cod pricing higher because of the location?

Equipment prices are the same across Massachusetts. What differs on the Cape is housing stock — the classic Cape Cod cottage with its half-story stairs often requires less rail than a full two-story colonial, which keeps straight-rail installs at the lower end of the range. Curved rails for older Pocasset and Cataumet homes with tight switchback staircases are at the higher end. We itemize every cost on the written quote.

Does MassHealth cover stairlifts?

MassHealth (Massachusetts Medicaid) can cover stairlifts through its Home and Community-Based Services waivers. Eligibility requires MassHealth enrollment and a clinical assessment showing the modification is necessary to remain safely at home. Separately, MassAbility (formerly the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission) administers the Home Modification Loan Program (HMLP), which provides 0% interest deferred-payment loans for home modifications including stairlifts — available to homeowners with a household member who has a disability, any age. Call 866-500-5599 for HMLP. We handle the modification paperwork for both programs.
