Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Bristol County

Bristol County, MA

We cover every Dartmouth village from Padanaram out to Hixville. Padanaram Village on Apponagansett Bay has 1900s shingle-style homes with wider stair runs — salt-air calls for marine-grade IP55 components on any unit within a mile of the water. Bliss Corner ranches off Rockdale Avenue are single-flight straight runs, standard rails. Smith Mills and Russells Mills farmhouses from the 1800s have narrow 27-29 inch stairs — we spec the compact 530 series. Hixville colonials inland near Route 6 have split landings that need curved rails. South Dartmouth mixed with Nonquitt, Round Hill, and Mishaum Point estates needs outdoor weatherproof units on porch entries. Every job includes battery backup for nor'easter outages.

Common Questions

Everything Dartmouth Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Dartmouth, MA?

Straight rails for Bliss Corner and Smith Mills homes start at $2,800 installed. Curved rails for Padanaram shingle-styles and Hixville colonials with split landings start at $9,000. Outdoor marine-grade units for South Dartmouth porches near Buzzards Bay start at $4,000. Financing from $79/month.

Why do Padanaram stairlifts cost more than inland Hixville?

Padanaram and anywhere within a mile of Apponagansett Bay needs marine-grade IP55 components — sealed motor housings, stainless-steel fasteners, and corrosion-rated electronics. The parts cost about 15% more than standard indoor units, but they last 10+ years in South Coast salt-air.

Does Massachusetts sales tax apply to a Dartmouth stairlift?

No — Massachusetts exempts medical equipment prescribed for mobility from the 6.25% state sales tax. Your prescribing physician at Hawthorn Medical Associates or a Southcoast Health provider provides the letter. Keep a copy for your tax file.

How does a Dartmouth stairlift compare to assisted living?

Assisted living in Bristol County averages $6,900-$8,200 per month in 2026. A one-time $2,800 stairlift pays for itself in under three weeks, and the homeowner stays in the Padanaram or Smith Mills house they've owned for thirty years.

A word from Luis

I do every Dartmouth measure-up myself. The town is a patchwork — a half-salt-box farmhouse in Hixville is a totally different job from a 1900 shingle-style in Padanaram Village or a ranch in Bliss Corner. You can't spec one rail type for Dartmouth.

Three things I always check here. One: Padanaram and South Dartmouth homes within a mile of Apponagansett Bay need marine-grade IP55 aluminum, even for a seat that lives indoors, because the salt-air chews cheap electronics. Two: old Russells Mills and Smith Mills farmhouses have narrower-than-code stairs (27-29 inches) — we use a compact 530 rail, not the standard. Three: nor'easter power outages are routine from November through March, so battery backup isn't optional, it's the whole point. Call me direct if you want a free measure — I'm out of New Bedford most days.
