Stairlift Service Across San Mateo County

San Mateo County, CA

From the postwar Doelger tracts of Westlake — where narrow stairwells and original hardwood treads demand the slim-profile seat on nearly every install — to the 1960s hillside split-levels of Serramonte with their landing turns and settling subfloors, our team has measured staircases in every Daly City neighborhood. We know which St. Francis Heights cottages have stone-and-plaster walls that rule out wall-mounted brackets, which Top of the Hill ranches still have deep-pile carpet requiring longer bolts and torque verification, and which Hillside lots have steep exterior stone entries needing marine-grade sealing against Pacific fog. Daly City is 57% Asian — we schedule multilingual assessments in Tagalog, Cantonese, and Spanish on request.

1952 Westlake Doelger home — straight rail on original hardwood oak treads

Westlake, CA Installed March 2026

A classic Henry Doelger tract home on St. Francis Boulevard with the original narrow hardwood staircase — 13 treads, tight walls on both sides, and oak that had been polished to a near-skating-rink finish after 70 years of foot traffic. Mrs. Reyes had taken a fall two months earlier and her daughter flew in from Honolulu to get the stairlift sorted. We confirmed clearance for the folded seat in the 32-inch-wide Doelger stairwell, bolted the rail into the oak treads on the right side, and the seat parks at the bottom landing folded flat enough that her grandson still walks past it carrying laundry.

Serramonte hillside split-level — curved rail with upper landing exit

Serramonte, CA Installed February 2026

A 1966 split-level on one of Serramonte's hillside streets where the staircase wraps 90 degrees at the upper landing before opening onto the bedroom hallway. Two other companies had quoted two separate straight rails with a transfer platform at the landing. We laser-scanned the entire run and fabricated a single curved rail that carries Mrs. Nakamura from the living room to the bedroom hallway in one continuous ride with a powered swivel-exit seat at the top. The scan picked up a half-inch settle in the landing subfloor that would have thrown off a template-based rail.

St. Francis Heights cottage — straight rail alongside stone-and-plaster walls

St. Francis Heights, CA Installed January 2026

A 1948 cottage-style home on a steep St. Francis Heights lot with stone-and-plaster interior walls and a straight run of 14 treads. Mrs. O'Brien has lived in the house since 1971 and was clear: no drilling into the stone walls, and the cat still needs to get past the chair. We mounted the rail entirely into the wooden treads — zero wall contact — and specified the slim-profile folding seat so the stairway keeps 26 inches of clear passage when the chair is parked. The compact, traditional space fits the rail snugly alongside her wooden sideboard and potted plant at the base of the stairs.

Hillside raised entry — outdoor lift over stone paving steps

Hillside, CA Installed December 2025

A Hillside home perched on one of Daly City's signature steep lots with nine exterior stone paving steps from the sidewalk up to the front door. Mr. Santos is 84 and had been entering through the garage for over a year because the front steps were too risky in the morning fog. We anchored the rail into the stone paving with sleeve bolts, installed a cream weather-resistant seat with marine-grade upholstery, and sealed the motor housing against salt-air corrosion. Natural daylight floods the entry from above. Mr. Santos used his front door for the first time in 14 months the day we finished.

Top of the Hill ranch — straight rail on deep-pile carpeted stairs

Top of the Hill, CA Installed November 2025

A 1970s ranch-style home near the Top of the Hill neighborhood with deep-pile carpeted stairs — the thick carpet that was standard in San Mateo County homes built in that era. The carpet-covered treads required longer mounting bolts driven through the pad into the tread substrate underneath, with each bolt torque-verified because soft carpet compresses over time and can loosen standard hardware. The brown upholstery on the seat blends with the carpet tone so the lift reads as part of the house. Mrs. Lam rides it to the kitchen every morning for congee and back upstairs for her afternoon nap.

Platform Lift

Broadmoor-adjacent home — indoor wheelchair platform lift with safety edges

Broadmoor Village, CA Installed October 2025

A single-story home near Broadmoor Village with a four-step interior level change between the original living area and a 1980s addition housing the primary bedroom. Mr. Aquino uses a powered wheelchair full-time and had been sleeping in the living room on a hospital bed for six months. We installed an indoor inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat black anti-slip platform, high-visibility yellow safety edges along the perimeter, and automatic fold-down ramps at both levels. The lift runs on standard 120V household current against the warm-toned interior walls, with a keyed lockout so visiting grandchildren cannot operate it unsupervised.

Common Questions

Everything Daly City Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Daly City right now?

Straight rails in Daly City's postwar tract homes run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for split-level homes with landing turns run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is custom-fabricated. Outdoor lifts for steep exterior entries run $4,000 to $7,500 with full coastal sealing included. All quotes include the rail, seat, battery backup, installation, and first service visit.

Does the coastal location add to the price?

No surcharge. Every install ships with sealed IP54 motor housings and stainless fasteners as baseline specification. Salt-air corrosion protection is factored into standard pricing for all San Mateo County work — not an optional upcharge.

Is Daly City more expensive than other Bay Area cities for stairlift work?

Equipment pricing is identical across the Bay Area. What can vary slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: extra-narrow Doelger stairwells, stone paving on exterior steps needing anchor sleeves, or deep-pile carpet installs requiring longer mounting bolts. These line items appear on written quotes before signing.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift worth considering in Daly City?

A factory-recertified straight rail runs $1,800 to $2,800 installed — roughly 40% less than new. We inspect every recertified unit, replace batteries, safety sensors, and upholstery, and back it with a 2-year parts-and-labor warranty. Curved rails cannot be refurbished because every curved track is manufactured for one specific staircase. If your Doelger stairwell is a standard straight run, recertified is a solid option we recommend without hesitation.

A word from Luis

Most Daly City families call after a fall scare on the steep, narrow stairs inside a 1950s Doelger tract home — those original hardwood treads get slick in the coastal fog humidity, and the stairwell was built tight to save square footage.

I drive down from the Peninsula, measure the staircase in person, and leave you with a written price good for 30 days. One visit. One quote. No pressure. Tagalog, Spanish, or Cantonese — whatever language your lola or abuela is most comfortable in, that's the language we use at the kitchen table.
