Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Pottawattamie County

Pottawattamie County, IA

The Lincoln-Fairview Historic District — Victorian mansions and Queen Anne cottages built for railroad money in the 1870s through 1890s — brings steep interior staircases, narrow landings, and century-old oak banisters we thread curved rails past without touching a spindle. Huntington Avenue, winding along the hilltop above, runs to early-1900s Craftsman homes with stairwells as narrow as 26 inches wall-to-wall that only fit a compact-profile rail. South and east of the bluffs, the Madison Avenue corridor, Mynster Springs, and Twin City neighborhoods are where we do the highest volume — 1950s and 1960s ranches and split-levels with a 90-degree landing turn between the entry and the bedrooms. We staff the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro as a single coverage area, so Carter Lake, Crescent, Treynor, Underwood, and Glenwood are all within our same-day service radius.

Lincoln-Fairview Victorian — straight rail on original oak treads

Lincoln-Fairview, IA Installed March 2026

An 1889 Victorian in the Lincoln-Fairview Historic District with 14 original dark oak treads and an open-tread staircase rising from the entry hall. The Sorensens had preserved every inch of the original millwork — refinished oak banisters, hand-carved newel posts, original plaster rosettes. We mounted the straight rail directly into the oak treads using oak-rated lag bolts, ran the track along the wall side opposite the banister to clear every spindle, and parked the beige seat at the bottom landing where it folds flush against the wall. The warm wood tones of the staircase match the seat upholstery almost exactly.

Mynster Springs split-level — curved rail with 90-degree turn at upper landing

Mynster Springs, IA Installed February 2026

A 1963 split-level in Mynster Springs with a clearly curved staircase that bends around a half-wall at the upper landing. The Rasmussens had lived there since 1972. We laser-scanned the full run, fabricated a single curved rail that follows the 90-degree bend, and parked the brown-upholstered seat at the upper floor landing where Mrs. Rasmussen steps off directly onto the hallway carpet. Framed family photos line the stairwell wall — we cleared every frame by two inches. The foundation had settled a quarter-inch on the lower run over 60 years; we shimmed the rail brackets to keep the ride level.

Madison Avenue bungalow — straight rail on stone-tile treads in compact stairwell

Madison Avenue, IA Installed January 2026

A 1954 bungalow on Madison Avenue with 11 original stone-tile treads and a narrow stairwell next to a wooden sideboard the family has kept in the same spot since the 1960s. Mrs. Petersen needed the lift before coming home from hip replacement rehab at CHI Health Mercy. We anchored the slim-profile straight rail into the stone tile with chemical-set masonry bolts, left clearance past the sideboard and its potted plant, and parked the brown seat at the bottom landing. The cozy cottage proportions of the stairwell meant every inch counted — the compact rail leaves 21 inches of clear stair width for other household members.

Outdoor

Huntington Avenue Craftsman — weather-sealed outdoor lift on stone porch steps

Huntington Avenue, IA Installed December 2025

An early-1900s Craftsman on Huntington Avenue with a raised front porch, nine rough-cut natural stone steps, and a covered entry. Mr. Larsen is a retired Air Force officer who qualified for the full HISA grant through the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System. The cream-colored outdoor seat is UV-rated and weather-sealed against Iowa's freeze-thaw cycles, anchored into the stone paving with chemical-set bolts rated for the stone thickness. The IP55-sealed motor housing sits at the top landing near the front door. The lift survived a March blizzard and two ice storms without a single service call — the cold-rated battery held through three days without power.

Twin City ranch — straight rail on carpeted stairs at the landing

Twin City, IA Installed November 2025

A 1958 ranch in Twin City with 13 carpet-covered treads and a landing area where the carpet meets tile at the bottom. The brown-upholstered seat matches the warm brown carpet tones almost exactly — several family members said they barely notice it when parked. Luis conducted the full walkthrough in Spanish and left a Spanish-language operating manual. The grandchildren's footrest-folding test was part of the final safety check — both kids could fold it up without help. Wall-mounted light switches near the landing were relocated two inches to clear the rail path.

Platform Lift

South Council Bluffs home — indoor wheelchair platform lift between levels

South Council Bluffs, IA Installed October 2025

A 1970s bi-level in South Council Bluffs where Mr. Koehler uses a power wheelchair full-time after bilateral knee replacement surgery at CHI Health Mercy. A seated stairlift was not an option — he needed to stay in the chair. We installed an indoor inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat black anti-slip platform, yellow high-visibility safety edges on all four sides, white handrails, and upper and lower landing gates. The warm-toned interior walls frame the lift against a window on the stairway landing. The platform folds vertically against the wall when not in use, leaving the stairwell clear for other household members. The constant-pressure control means the lift only moves while the button is held.

Common Questions

Everything Council Bluffs Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Council Bluffs right now?

Straight rails in standard Council Bluffs homes — the Madison Avenue ranches, the Mynster Springs split-levels, the Twin City two-stories — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for split-levels with 90-degree landings run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is custom-fabricated to your staircase geometry. Outdoor weather-sealed models for raised porches and exterior entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, cold-rated battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices higher on the Iowa side than in Omaha?

No. Equipment costs are identical across the metro. What varies slightly is install complexity: threading a curved rail past century-old spindles in a Lincoln-Fairview Victorian takes longer than a straight run in a 1960s ranch. We show every line item on the quote before you sign. No surprise premiums, no hidden zone charges.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. Every assessment can be conducted in Spanish at your request — Luis is bilingual and has walked dozens of Council Bluffs families through every line of the paperwork in their preferred language. Every printed quote, consent form, and operating manual is available in Spanish. Zero surcharge.

Any hidden fees for 55+ community installs?

Our quote includes the community paperwork we handle for you. Fair Housing accommodation letters are templated and included at no charge. If a board requires its own engineer's letter, we disclose that before starting. Every line item is visible on the written quote.

A word from Luis

Council Bluffs calls follow a pattern. A daughter in Omaha watches her father grip the banister in a Lincoln-Fairview Victorian he's lived in for 40 years. A wife in a Mynster Springs ranch worries every time her husband takes the basement stairs after his knee replacement. A veteran in a Madison Avenue bungalow finally decides the seven porch steps are one fall away from a nursing home conversation nobody wants to have.

My job is simple: drive across the river within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
