Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Bartholomew County

Bartholomew County, IN

From the Craftsman bungalows near Downtown Columbus — built between 1905 and 1928, with steep staircases and original oak treads that demand careful tread-mounted rails — to the Lincoln Park colonials of the 1940s where half-landing turns require custom curved rails, our team has measured staircases in every Columbus neighborhood. Eastbrook split-levels from the 1970s have the six-step garage entry that becomes the daily mobility problem nobody anticipated. Parkside ranches have raised-entry foyers that catch people off guard after knee replacements. We've preserved original banisters in the historic homes near downtown and threaded compact rails into Forest Park townhomes. We also serve Taylorsville, Elizabethtown, and the smaller towns along US-31.

1923 downtown Columbus foursquare — rail matched to original oak treads

Downtown Columbus, IN Installed March 2026

A 1923 foursquare two blocks from downtown with original oak treads and a warm residential interior. We matched the rail color to the century-old oak, bolted the track into the dark hardwood treads without touching a single spindle, and parked the seat at the bottom landing. Mrs. Schroeder's daughter visited three weeks later and didn't notice the lift until her mother rode it upstairs.

Lincoln Park colonial — curved rail around the upper-floor balustrade

Lincoln Park, IN Installed January 2026

A 1948 Lincoln Park colonial with a graceful staircase that curves around a half-wall balustrade at the upper landing. Two contractors told the Brinkmanns they'd need separate lifts for the lower and upper runs. We laser-scanned the full staircase, fabricated a single curved rail that bends around the balustrade with the seat parked at the top-floor hallway. Framed art on the walls and the chandelier above remained untouched. Mrs. Brinkmann's mother rides from the entry hall to her bedroom in a single uninterrupted trip.

Parkside ranch — compact straight rail beside the hallway sideboard

Parkside, IN Installed February 2026

A cozy Parkside ranch with stone-tile treads and a wooden sideboard with a potted plant at the base of the stairs. The Hartmanns wanted the lift to blend into the traditional cottage feel of their compact staircase. We fitted a slim-profile straight rail alongside the sideboard with three inches of clearance and matched the seat upholstery to the warm tones of the interior. The sideboard and its plant stayed exactly where they were.

Tipton Lakes — weather-sealed porch lift for icy Indiana winters

Tipton Lakes, IN Installed November 2025

A Tipton Lakes home with eight front porch steps over rough natural stone paving that became hazardous after ice storms. Mr. Volz is a veteran who qualified for the VA HISA grant through Roudebush in Indianapolis. We installed a weather-sealed outdoor rail with a cream-colored UV-protected seat at the stone-paved entry. Every bracket is hot-dip galvanized, the motor housing is IP55 sealed, and the cold-weather battery has kept it running through two ice events this winter without a service call.

Eastbrook split-level — straight rail on carpeted stairs with matching upholstery

Eastbrook, IN Installed December 2025

A 1978 Eastbrook split-level with 12 carpeted treads leading to a landing. Mrs. Wendell's concern was getting off safely at the top, where her husband had stumbled twice before his hip surgery. We installed a straight rail with brown upholstery that matches the carpet tone, and added a swivel-exit seat that rotates 90 degrees at the upper landing so she steps off onto flat hallway floor. Wall-mounted light switches stayed accessible. One configuration change, one hazard eliminated.

Platform Lift

Clifty Farms — indoor wheelchair platform lift for a full-time chair user

Clifty Farms, IN Installed October 2025

A home in the Clifty Farms subdivision where Mrs. Obrecht uses a wheelchair full-time and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat black anti-slip platform, high-visibility yellow safety edges, and a white handrail along the indoor stairway. The orange-toned walls and natural light from the window frame the lift naturally. She rolls onto the platform ten times a day and hasn't needed assistance on the stairs since installation.

Common Questions

Everything Columbus Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Columbus, Indiana right now?

Straight rails in standard Columbus homes — the downtown bungalows, Lincoln Park colonials, Eastbrook split-levels — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, needed when your staircase has a landing turn, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to the exact geometry of your staircase. Outdoor models for raised front porches and icy entry steps run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, cold-weather battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are Columbus prices the same as Indianapolis?

Equipment prices are the same across Indiana. What can vary slightly is install labor for the older downtown housing stock — pre-1930 bungalows and foursquares with narrow treads, century-old plaster, and original millwork require more careful mounting technique than a 1990s two-story. That detail shows up as a line item on your quote, not as a surprise after install. No 'Columbus premium.'

Is a refurbished unit worth considering in Columbus?

For standard straight staircases, a factory-reconditioned unit saves 30-40% — we carry certified refurbished straight rails with new upholstery, new cold-weather batteries, and a 2-year warranty. For curved rails, refurbished isn't a real option because every curved rail is custom-fabricated for a specific staircase. If your Columbus home has a standard straight run, ask about it during the assessment.

Are there hidden fees for older Columbus homes?

Our quote covers everything: rail, seat, install labor, cold-weather battery, and the first service visit. The occasional add-on in the older downtown neighborhoods is a dedicated electrical circuit when the outlet near the stairs is on an undersized circuit — common in pre-1940 homes still running 60-amp panels. If your home needs it, we tell you at the assessment. A new circuit runs $200-$400 and is handled by our licensed electrician.

A word from Luis

Columbus surprises people who haven't been here — for a city of 50,000 it has an extraordinary mix of housing: century-old Craftsman bungalows within walking distance of downtown, postwar colonials in Lincoln Park, 1970s split-levels in Eastbrook, and newer ranch homes in Tipton Lakes. Every one of those house types presents a different staircase challenge.

What doesn't change is the timeline: I drive out within 24 hours, measure the staircase, walk you through every option, and hand you a written quote that's honored for 30 days. You decide when you're ready. No pressure, no follow-up calls.
