Straight Stairlift

Most Common

The workhorse of Greenwood's colonials, bungalows, and builder-grade two-stories. Roughly 70% of the stairlifts we install across Johnson County are a single straight run — the 14-step climb in a Valle Vista or Honey Creek colonial, the 12-tread Old Town bungalow run, the finished-basement stairs in a Smocktown or east-side ranch. The rail bolts into your stair treads (never into the wall), the seat and footrest fold flat, and the cold-weather battery backup keeps you moving through the next Indiana ice storm.

Starting at $2,750 installed

What's Included

  • Battery backup for power outages
  • Swivel seat with safety lock
  • Two wireless remote controls
  • Soft start and soft stop motion
  • Fold-up seat, arms, and footrest
  • 10-year motor & gearbox warranty

Compared to Alternatives

vs Curved: 3x less expensive and installed in one visit. vs Home elevator: 10-15x less cost and no construction. vs Moving bedroom downstairs: Keeps your home exactly as it is.

Stairlift Service Across Johnson County

Johnson County, IN

From the 1870s–1920s homes in Old Town Greenwood along Madison Avenue — Victorians, Craftsman bungalows, and original wood banisters — to the 1970s split-levels east of US 31 where the mid-landing 90-degree turn is the most common curved-rail install in Johnson County, our team has measured stairs in every corridor of this city. Valle Vista floor plans from the 1980s have steep builder-grade staircases. Honey Creek Meadows and Stones Crossing colonials have wide post-2000 stairs that install in three hours flat. Smocktown has compact lots with shorter stair runs. We cover New Whiteland, Whiteland, Bargersville, and Franklin without a travel surcharge.

Straight

1988 Valle Vista colonial — straight rail on oak treads to second-floor bedrooms

Valle Vista, IN Installed March 2026

A 1988 two-story colonial in Valle Vista with 14 oak-tread steps from the foyer to the upstairs bedrooms. Mr. Decker had been sleeping in the downstairs den since a knee replacement in January because the stairs were too painful to navigate twice a day. We bolted the rail into the treads only — the original oak banister and turned spindles are untouched. The slim-profile seat folds flat against the wall at the bottom landing so the foyer stays clear. Mrs. Decker tested the soft-start ride and said it was quieter than their furnace kicking on. Mr. Decker slept upstairs the night of the install.

1973 split-level east of US 31 — curved rail with 90° turn at upper landing

East Greenwood, IN Installed February 2026

A 1973 split-level on the east side of US 31 with the classic Johnson County layout: six steps from the entry to the main living area, a mid-landing with a 90-degree turn, and eight more steps to the bedrooms. Mrs. Garza's mother moved in after a hip fracture and the split-level entry made a straight rail impossible. We laser-scanned the full run during the first visit, fabricated a single curved rail that carries her from the entry to the upper hallway in one continuous ride, and added a swivel-exit seat at the top so she steps off onto the hallway floor. The entire consultation with Mrs. Garza's mother was in Spanish — Luis walked her through every button twice.

1890s Old Town Victorian — compact rail through a narrow stairwell

Old Town Greenwood, IN Installed January 2026

An 1890s Victorian on Madison Avenue in Old Town Greenwood with a narrow 33-inch stairwell, plaster walls, and a wood banister that predates the 20th century. Mrs. Langley is 81 and had been sleeping on the parlor sofa for two weeks because the stairs scared her after a dizzy spell. We specified the compact-footprint rail and used longer lag bolts through the original pine treads into the subfloor joists. A wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs stays in place — the folding seat clears it with room to spare. The banister was not touched. Mrs. Langley slept in her own bedroom that night.

Old Town bungalow — outdoor lift on a raised stone-paved front porch

Old Town Greenwood, IN Installed December 2025

A 1920s Craftsman bungalow on Broadway Street in Old Town with a raised front porch and six stone-paved steps from the sidewalk to the entry. Mr. Hargrove is a retired National Guard veteran who served at Camp Atterbury and gets his care at Roudebush VA in Indianapolis. He qualified for a HISA grant — we prefilled VA Form 10-0103 and the prescription came back from Roudebush in 22 days. The cream-colored weather-resistant seat rides over rough natural stone pavers to the porch landing, with stainless fasteners and an IP55-sealed motor housing rated for Indiana freeze-thaw cycling. Natural daylight from above lights the entire run.

Honey Creek Meadows colonial — straight rail over wall-to-wall carpet

Honey Creek Meadows, IN Installed November 2025

A 2002 colonial in Honey Creek Meadows with 15 carpeted steps from the great room to the upstairs master suite. Mrs. Stoltz had a stroke in September and returned home from Franciscan Health Greenwood with orders not to climb stairs unassisted for 90 days. We measured on Wednesday, installed on Friday. The carpet meant longer lag bolts through the pad into the subfloor, and the brown-upholstered seat blends with the carpet tones at the landing. Wall-mounted light switches remain accessible, and the 37-inch staircase width leaves clearance with the seat folded. Her physical therapist cleared her for independent use at the three-week follow-up.

Platform Lift

Smocktown ranch — indoor wheelchair platform lift between main floor and basement

Smocktown, IN Installed October 2025

A 1965 ranch in Smocktown with a finished walkout basement that Mr. Pruitt uses as his workshop. He served 22 years in the Army, including deployments out of Camp Atterbury, and uses a power wheelchair after a service-connected spinal injury. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the indoor stairway — a flat black anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges on all four sides. The orange-terracotta walls frame the run, and a window on the stairwell wall provides natural light. The platform folds against the wall when not in use so the stairs stay passable for his wife and grandchildren. His HISA grant through Roudebush VA covered most of the cost.

Common Questions

Everything Greenwood Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Greenwood right now?

Straight rails in standard Greenwood homes — the Valle Vista colonials, the Honey Creek two-stories, the Smocktown bungalows, the Stones Crossing builds — install for $2,800 to $5,500. Curved rails, which you'll need for most 1970s split-levels east of US 31 and some Old Town Victorians with half-landings, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor stoop and porch lifts for the raised front entries common on Old Town bungalows run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, cold-weather battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are Greenwood prices different from Indianapolis or Franklin?

Equipment prices are identical across the south metro — we don't charge a zip-code premium. What varies slightly is labor when special conditions come up: masonry anchoring into stone treads in an Old Town home, HOA paperwork for the Stones Crossing or Valle Vista communities, adjustable-angle mounting on steep split-level retrofit stairs, or dedicated-circuit electrical work in older homes with 60-amp panels. Every line item is on the written quote before you sign anything.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. Every assessment can be conducted in Spanish at your request — our specialist Luis is bilingual. The written quote, consent form, and operating manual are all available in Spanish. Zero surcharge.

Are there hidden fees for HOA installs in Stones Crossing or Valle Vista?

The HOA paperwork is included. We've worked with multiple Greenwood-area HOAs including the Valle Vista and Stones Crossing associations. The federal Fair Housing Act reasonable-accommodation letters are already templated and we handle the submission. The only time anything adds cost is when a board requires its own engineer's letter. If that happens, we tell you before we order the equipment, not after.

A word from Luis

Most Greenwood families call after a winter morning when the front steps iced and a parent grabbed the banister hard enough to pull a muscle — a split-level on the east side where the landing turn has been a problem for a decade, an Old Town Victorian where the stairs haven't changed since the 1890s, a Valle Vista ranch where the garage-to-kitchen step is the thing nobody mentions until someone falls.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
