Stairlift Service Across Albany County

Albany County, NY

Latham is Colonie's largest hamlet — postwar Cape Cods, split-levels, and colonials with 13–15 carpeted treads make up our most common straight-rail installs. Latham also leads Albany County in NHTD-waiver-funded stairlifts.

Loudonville homes are Colonie's largest — 1920s–1960s Tudors and colonials with formal oak staircases and landing turns that require curved rails color-matched to original woodwork.

Roessleville & the Village of Colonie hold tight, narrow 1940s–1950s stairwells where slim-profile rails are the only option that leaves room to walk past. Many residents here qualify for NHTD or MLTC funding.

We also cover Watervliet, Menands, and the entire Albany–Schenectady–Troy metro with no travel surcharge.

1952 Loudonville colonial — rail color-matched to original oak banister

Loudonville, NY Installed March 2026

A 1952 colonial on a half-acre lot in Loudonville with original red oak treads, a turned-spindle banister, and crown molding in the front hall. Mr. Brennan's daughter called from Saratoga Springs after her father slipped on the top step. We brought finish samples on the first visit, matched the rail to the existing red oak, and bolted the track into the treads only — never grazing a single spindle. The rail parks flush at the upper landing and the chair folds flat against the wall.

90° landing turn in a 1965 Latham split-level — one rail, zero transfers

Latham, NY Installed February 2026

A 1965 split-level in Latham with a 90-degree landing connecting the entry foyer to the upper bedrooms. We laser-scanned the staircase, fabricated a single curved rail that carries from the entry to the upper hallway in one continuous ride, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the top so Mr. DeStefano steps off onto the hallway carpet. The rail follows the landing turn with three inches of wall clearance. The battery backup carried through an 18-hour February power outage without missing a trip.

Village of Colonie cottage — stone-tile treads, slim-profile rail in a narrow stairwell

Colonie Village, NY Installed January 2026

A 1944 cottage in the Village of Colonie with stone-tile entry treads and a stairwell barely 31 inches wide. Mrs. Kowalski has lived there since 1983. We mounted a slim-profile rail along the wall side, anchored the brackets through the stone tile with masonry fasteners, and added a folding footrest so the chair parks tight against the wall. A wooden sideboard with a potted plant sits right at the base of the stairs — the compact install tucks in without crowding the furniture.

Raised front porch in Newtonville — stone-paved entry, cold-weather outdoor lift

Newtonville, NY Installed December 2025

A 1958 colonial in Newtonville with a raised front porch and six exterior stone-paved steps — the only path from the driveway to the front door. Mrs. Fitzgerald had been using the garage entry through the basement to avoid the front stairs. We mounted an outdoor lift with the full cold-weather package: epoxy rail coating, 316 stainless fasteners, sealed IP55 motor housing, and a cream weather-resistant seat. The lift has run through a full Capital District winter — snow, ice, and road salt — without a single weather-related issue.

Latham Cape Cod — carpeted stairs, swivel-exit, NHTD-funded

Latham, NY Installed November 2025

A 1955 Cape Cod in Latham with 13 carpeted treads and a landing that opens into the upstairs hallway. Mrs. Abrams qualified for the NHTD waiver through the NY Department of Health. The installation went through the carpet without removing it — we bolted the rail brackets through the carpet pad into the tread wood beneath. The seat's brown upholstery blends with the carpet tones on the stairway. The swivel-exit seat rotates at the top so she steps off onto the hallway carpet, not the top tread.

Platform Lift

Indoor wheelchair platform for a Roessleville split-entry — MLTC-funded

Roessleville, NY Installed October 2025

Mr. Vasquez suffered a spinal cord injury at 58 and uses a power wheelchair full-time. The Roessleville split-entry has five steps from the garage level to the main floor. A seated stairlift would not work because he cannot transfer out of his chair. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat anti-slip deck, yellow high-visibility safety edges along both sides, and a white handrail. The platform folds up when not in use so the rest of the family walks the stairs normally. His Fidelis MLTC plan authorized the modification.

Common Questions

Everything Colonie Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Colonie right now?

Straight rails in standard Colonie homes — the Latham Cape Cods, the Newtonville colonials, the Roessleville two-stories — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for landing turns and formal staircases in Loudonville run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised porches and covered entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Loudonville than Latham?

Equipment prices are the same across Colonie and the Capital District — we don't inflate quotes for Loudonville addresses or discount for Roessleville. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: curved rails for formal Tudor staircases in Loudonville, color-matched finishes for original oak banisters, and slim-profile installs in tight Roessleville stairwells. We tell you the line items upfront.

Does the cold-weather battery spec cost extra?

No. Every install in the Capital District ships with the cold-weather battery rated to -20°F as baseline spec. The national chains charge $200–$350 for a cold-weather upgrade. We build it into the standard quote because a standard lithium pack fails in an unheated stairwell when Albany County drops to single digits in January.

Can I rent a stairlift in Colonie instead of buying?

We offer short-term rentals for straight-rail models starting at $200 per month with a 3-month minimum. Rentals include installation, removal, and full maintenance. This works well for post-surgery recovery when you only need the lift for 8–12 weeks, or when a family member is visiting for an extended stay. If you decide to buy, we credit up to two months of rental payments toward the purchase price.

A word from Luis

Most Colonie families call me after something has already shifted — a fall on the carpeted stairs in a Latham Cape Cod, a father in Loudonville who stopped going to the basement workshop after his second knee replacement, a daughter in Manhattan worried about her parents in the same colonial they've owned since 1962.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.
