Bestseller

The workhorse of Cicero's brick bungalows and two-flats — basement drops, second-floor runs, shared staircases. Over 75% of the stairlifts we install in Cicero are this model. The classic Chicago bungalow layout means at least two staircase runs per house — the six-step basement drop and the 13-15 tread climb to the second floor — and a straight rail handles both. Bolts into the stair treads, never into plaster or oak trim. The seat and footrest fold flat so tenants and family can still walk past in a shared two-flat staircase. Battery backup keeps you running through a winter ComEd outage.

Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Cook County

Cook County, IL

Cicero is compact — roughly two miles by two miles — but the housing stock varies block by block. The north end along Cermak Road has dense brick bungalows and small two-flats behind the 1920s commercial buildings. The east side bordering Austin has the oldest housing, with narrower lots, tighter stairwells, and original 60-amp panels that sometimes need a dedicated circuit before install. The south end near the Stevenson has bungalows and frame houses with the steepest basement drops in Cook County. The west side bordering Berwyn continues the same 1920s brick bungalow belt seamlessly across the municipal line. We serve Berwyn, Stickney, Forest View, Riverside, Forest Park, and Oak Park at the same rate — no travel surcharges.

1924 brick bungalow on 54th Avenue — six-step basement drop off the kitchen

Central Cicero, IL Installed March 2026

A 1924 Chicago-style brick bungalow on South 54th Avenue with the classic layout: kitchen on the first floor, six steep steps dropping straight down to the basement where the laundry, the extra refrigerator, and Señor Mendoza's workshop all live. He's 78 and hadn't been down those stairs since December. Luis ran the entire consultation in Spanish at the kitchen table, fitted the slim-profile rail to the existing softwood basement treads without touching the original oak trim on the upper landing, and Señor Mendoza was back at his workbench that same afternoon.

1928 two-flat — curved rail bends around the upper landing balustrade

North Cicero, IL Installed February 2026

A 1928 two-flat two blocks south of Cermak Road with a curved staircase that bends around a half-wall balustrade at the upper landing. Sra. Guzmán's second-floor unit sits at the top of that bend, and she hadn't been downstairs to her daughter's kitchen in five months. We laser-scanned the full run, fabricated a curved rail that follows the 90-degree turn at the upper floor, and parked the seat at the top landing where she steps off directly onto the hallway. Luis walked her through every button twice in Spanish. Her daughter said she came downstairs for dinner that same evening.

Straight

Compact east-side three-flat — straight rail beside the hallway sideboard

East Cicero, IL Installed January 2026

A 1918 three-flat on South Laramie Avenue near the Chicago border with a compact first-floor entry and stone-look tile treads leading to the second floor. The Salazars had a wooden sideboard and potted plant right at the base of the stairs and worried the rail would block the hallway. We mounted a slim straight rail tight to the wall side, with the seat folding flat against the banister so it clears the sideboard completely. The cottage-style interior stayed untouched — Mr. Salazar said two neighbors have already asked for our number.

Rear porch entry — cold-weather outdoor lift on a Cicero two-flat

South Cicero, IL Installed December 2025

A 1930s two-flat south of the Stevenson Expressway with a stone-paved rear entry and raised porch steps leading to the back door. Mr. Reyes, 74, uses the rear entry daily — it's the only way to the garage and the garbage cans. We anchored the weather-resistant cream seat rail into the stone paving at the base and sealed every penetration against winter water intrusion. The cold-weather battery is rated to negative 20 degrees. Mr. Reyes took the garbage out unassisted the next morning for the first time since September.

1926 bungalow — premium rail color-matched on carpeted stairs

West Cicero, IL Installed November 2025

A 1926 brick bungalow on South 58th Court, one block from the Berwyn line, with carpeted stairs running from the tiled entry landing up to the second floor. Mrs. Wojcik, 81, wanted nothing that clashed with the carpet tones her family chose decades ago. We specified the premium rail with a finish that blends with the brown carpet, mounted the track into the treads beneath the carpet layer, and parked the brown-upholstered chair at the landing where it sits flush against the wall switches. Her visiting home nurse didn't notice the lift for two weeks.

Platform Lift

Wheelchair platform lift in a south Cicero bungalow for a non-ambulatory veteran

South Cicero, IL Installed October 2025

A 1929 bungalow on South 50th Avenue with 14 treads from the first floor to the bedrooms upstairs. Mr. Delgado, 72, uses a wheelchair full-time and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat black anti-slip surface and high-visibility yellow safety edges along the platform rails. The indoor stairway's orange-tinted plaster walls stay untouched — the platform folds flat against the wall when not in use. Mr. Delgado rolls his chair onto the platform, locks the wheels, and rides to the second floor without leaving his wheelchair.

Common Questions

Everything Cicero Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Cicero right now?

Straight rails in a standard Cicero bungalow or two-flat run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. That covers the classic six-step basement drop off the kitchen and the full 13-15 tread run to the second floor. Curved rails — needed when the staircase has a mid-landing turn, common in the older east-side three-flats — run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for the rear wooden porch stair run $4,500 to $7,500 with cold-weather batteries included. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices the same in Cicero as in Chicago proper?

Equipment prices are identical — we don't charge differently based on municipality. What's different is the permitting: Cicero is outside Chicago city limits, so you don't need a City of Chicago General Contractor License or an E-Plan electrical permit. If we need a new dedicated circuit (common in 1920s bungalows still on the original 60-amp panel), the permit runs through the Town of Cicero building department, which is typically faster than the Chicago DOB process. We pull it for you.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. Every Cicero assessment runs in Spanish by default unless the family tells us otherwise — Luis is bilingual and based on the Southwest Side, which means Cicero, Berwyn, and Stickney calls get him directly. Every printed quote, consent form, and operator manual comes in Spanish at no charge. This isn't an add-on service. In Cicero, it's how we do business.

Any hidden fees for two-flat or three-flat installs?

No. The quote includes everything — rail, seat, battery, install, and first service visit. If the building needs a new dedicated circuit (roughly 15-20% of Cicero installs in older two-flats), that line item appears on the original quote, not as a surprise after we start. If the staircase is shared between units, we position the rail and park the chair so tenants and family members can still walk the stairs freely.

A word from Luis

Most Cicero calls come through the family, not the homeowner. A daughter in Berwyn who noticed her father hasn't gone downstairs to his basement workshop in three months. A son in Oak Park whose mother fell on the second-floor landing of the brick two-flat she's lived in since 1978. A granddaughter who found my number taped to the refrigerator in a bungalow on South 54th Avenue.

My job is simple: get to your Cicero address inside 24 hours, measure once, and hold the price for 30 days. En español desde la primera llamada — most of my Cicero consultations run entirely in Spanish, and every printed quote and operator manual comes in Spanish at no charge.
