Stairlift Service Across Appanoose County

Appanoose County, IA

We serve all of Appanoose County from Centerville. Around the Courthouse Square Historic District — the largest town square in Iowa — the 1880s-1900s Queen Annes have narrow servant staircases and original oak treads, so rails bolt to the treads to spare the woodwork. The mid-century ranches in Golfview and along Drake Avenue usually have wider carpeted flights. Compact homes off North 12th Street and near Lakeview often have tile-tread stairs with furniture crowding the base. Up the lake roads toward Rathbun Lake, exterior deck and stone steps call for a sealed outdoor lift built for Iowa snow and freeze-thaw. We also reach Moravia, Moulton, Seymour, and Numa.

Courthouse Square — straight rail on a 1901 Queen Anne's oak treads

Courthouse Square Historic District, IA Installed February 2026

The Hendersons live in a 1901 Queen Anne on Maple Street near the Square. Their front staircase — original oak treads, fourteen feet — had become impossible for Mrs. Henderson after hip surgery. Luis bolted a beige straight rail to the treads in just over three hours, with no wall drilling and no harm to the original banister. She used it the same afternoon.

Golfview split-level — custom curved rail at the upper landing

Golfview, IA Installed March 2026

The Millers' 1970s split-level in Golfview has a half-wall at the upper landing that creates a tight 90-degree turn. After a one-hour laser measurement, the curved rail was custom-bent off-site and Luis installed it in four hours. The brown seat parks at the top landing out of the walkway, and the rail wraps the turn cleanly.

Quail Ridge — straight rail on stone-look tile treads

Quail Ridge, IA Installed January 2026

The Larsons' home in Quail Ridge has a compact staircase with stone-look tile treads and a cabinet crowding the base. Luis mounted the rail to the treads in three hours, positioning the brown seat at the bottom where it tucks neatly beside the cabinet. The tile took the bolts cleanly with no cracking, and the footprint stayed tight.

Outdoor

Rathbun Lake — weatherproof outdoor lift on stone steps

Rathbun Lake, IA Installed October 2025

Tom Peterson's lake house sits on a wooded lot near Rathbun Lake, with six rough-hewn stone steps from the parking area up to the deck. Luis installed a weather-sealed outdoor stairlift on the stone — IP55-rated, galvanized rail, UV-resistant cream seat — built to take Iowa freeze-thaw and snow. It has run through a full winter without a hitch.

Drake Avenue — straight rail on a 1950s carpeted staircase

Drake Avenue, IA Installed April 2026

The Crawfords' 1950s two-story on Drake Avenue has a carpeted staircase — beige plush running wall-to-wall up thirteen treads. Luis bolted the straight rail through the carpet into the wood treads in three hours, with no cutting or re-carpeting needed. The brown upholstery blended into the carpet tones, and the tiled entry at the base stayed clear.

North 12th Street ranch — indoor wheelchair platform lift

North 12th Street, IA Installed May 2026

Greg Harmon uses a wheelchair full time and lives in a ranch off North 12th Street. We installed an indoor inclined platform lift: flat black deck, yellow safety-edge sensors, white handrail, and a folding ramp at both landings. It carries his chair up the half-flight with no transfer, and he runs it himself from the deck.

Common Questions

Everything Centerville Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding, no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a straight stairlift cost in Centerville?

A straight stairlift in Centerville starts at $2,800 installed. Most homes in the Courthouse Square district and Golfview have straight staircases — typically 12 to 14 feet — so the final price stays close to that starting number. The price includes the in-home measurement, the rail, the seat, installation, and a full demonstration before we leave.

What does a curved stairlift cost for Centerville's older homes?

Curved stairlifts in Centerville start at $9,000. The Victorians and Queen Annes around the Courthouse Square often have landings, 90-degree turns, or switchback staircases that require a custom-bent rail. After a laser measurement on site, the rail is fabricated to your exact staircase, which is what drives the cost above a standard straight run at $2,800.

What does an outdoor stairlift cost near Rathbun Lake?

Outdoor stairlifts start at $4,000 in the Centerville area. The Rathbun Lake cabins and farm properties around Appanoose County often have exterior stone or concrete steps. The weather-sealed unit includes a galvanized rail, a UV-resistant seat, and an IP55-rated motor built to take Iowa freeze-thaw cycles.

Can I finance a stairlift in Centerville?

Yes. Financing starts at $79 a month through a third-party lender with fixed-rate terms from 12 to 60 months and no prepayment penalty. It works for most retired budgets, and we'll walk through the monthly numbers during your free in-home assessment so you see the full cost up front.

A word from Luis

Centerville's homes run the whole spectrum, and after fifteen years here I know which lift fits which house before I'm through the door. Around the Courthouse Square you get 1880s and 1900s Queen Annes with narrow servant staircases barely thirty inches across — gorgeous, but tight, and the woodwork is original, so every rail bolts to the treads and never the wall.

Out in Golfview and along Drake Avenue it's mid-century ranches and split-levels with standard flights, and up the lake roads toward Rathbun there are cabins and decks that need a sealed outdoor unit for Iowa winters. I measure each one on site and tell you honestly what it'll take. In Appanoose County I've only met a couple of staircases I couldn't fit a lift to.
