Stairlift Service Across Essex County

Essex County, NJ

From the center of Cedar Grove — where 1950s Cape Cods and split-levels line Fairview Avenue and Bradford Place with mature oaks shading narrow front walks — to the raised ranches along Pompton Avenue near the Montclair border and the colonial-style homes backing up to the Watchung Reservation along Ridge Road, our team has measured staircases across every Cedar Grove section. North End split-levels need curved rails for their mid-landing turns. Little Falls Road’s post-war Cape Cods have steep narrow runs that call for slim-profile hardware. The newer builds near Panther Park have wider treads and open floor plans that simplify every install.

1954 Fairview Avenue Cape Cod — straight rail on original hardwood treads

Fairview Avenue, NJ Installed March 2026

A 1954 Cape Cod on Fairview Avenue with 13 original hardwood treads and a narrow staircase typical of Cedar Grove’s post-war housing. Mrs. Martinelli had been sleeping on the living room sofa for ten days after hip surgery at St. Joseph’s Wayne because the steep stairs were off-limits. We measured the 14-foot run with a laser, confirmed the solid hardwood treads could accept the mounting hardware, and installed the same week. The slim-profile rail folds to just 11 inches from the wall, leaving enough clearance for her grandson to pass on the stairs. Mrs. Martinelli slept in her own bedroom that night.

1962 North End split-level — curved rail through a 90° landing turn

North End, NJ Installed February 2026

A 1962 split-level in the North End with five steps from the front entry to the living area, a 90-degree landing, then nine more steps to the bedrooms. Mr. DeFalco has lived in this house since 1974 and retired from PSE&G after 38 years. We laser-scanned the full run on the first visit, fabricated a single curved rail that carries him from the entry to the upper hallway without stopping, and installed a swivel-exit seat so he steps off onto carpet instead of balancing on the top tread. One ride, zero transfers.

1958 Bradford Place colonial — compact stairway with slim-profile rail

Bradford Place, NJ Installed January 2026

A 1958 colonial on Bradford Place with a compact staircase only 33 inches wide between the banister and the wall. The brown-upholstered seat sits at the bottom of the stairs next to the family’s wooden sideboard and a potted plant Mrs. Giordano keeps by the landing. The hardwood treads gave the slim-profile rail solid anchoring — folded, the seat and rail together take up just 11 inches, leaving 22 inches of clear passage for the grandchildren who visit every Sunday after Mass at St. Catherine of Siena.

Pompton Avenue raised ranch — outdoor lift on icy front-porch steps

Pompton Avenue, NJ Installed December 2025

A 1966 raised ranch near the Montclair border with a front porch and six concrete steps that ice over every December. Mr. Brennan fell on those steps twice last February and his daughter insisted on a solution before the next freeze. We installed an outdoor rail with a weather cover, IP55-sealed motor housing, and corrosion-resistant hardware rated for New Jersey’s freeze-thaw cycles and ice-melt salt. The rail survived the January nor’easter without a single stall. Mr. Brennan walks out the front door, sits down, and rides to the sidewalk.

Ridge Road colonial — straight rail on carpeted stairs, same-week install

Ridge Road, NJ Installed November 2025

A 1972 colonial backing up to the Watchung Reservation with carpeted stairs and a standard 36-inch-wide staircase. The brown-upholstered seat blends with the neutral carpet tones on the landing. Mrs. Russo’s son called on Tuesday, we measured Tuesday afternoon, and the install crew was at the house Thursday morning. The rail bolts through the carpet into the wooden treads beneath — no carpet removal, no damage to the pile. The seat folds flat against the wall, and her grandchildren ran up and down the stairs all Thanksgiving weekend without bumping into it once.

Platform Lift

Fairview Avenue home — inclined wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Fairview Avenue, NJ Installed October 2025

A two-story home on Fairview Avenue. Mr. Kowalski is a disabled veteran who uses a power wheelchair full-time. A seated stairlift was not an option — he needed to ride his chair between floors. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the indoor stairway: a flat black anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges on all thresholds, white handrails, and a keyed lockout so visiting grandchildren cannot activate it unsupervised. The HISA grant covered the full $6,800 service-connected maximum and JACC covered the remaining balance through his care manager. Mr. Kowalski rolls onto the platform, presses one button, and rides the incline to the upper floor without ever leaving his chair.

Common Questions

Everything Cedar Grove Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Cedar Grove, NJ right now?

Straight rails in standard Cedar Grove homes — the Cape Cods on Fairview Avenue, the colonials along Ridge Road, the raised ranches near Pompton Avenue — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you’ll need for most North End split-levels with landing turns, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised front porches and back-deck steps run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are Cedar Grove prices different from Montclair or West Orange?

Equipment prices are identical across northern New Jersey — we do not inflate or discount based on town size. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: narrow pre-war treads in older Cape Cods, split-level landing fabrication in North End homes, or corrosion-resistant hardware we spec as standard on every outdoor install in Essex County. Those are baseline, not upcharges. We tell you the line items upfront on the written quote.

Is a stairlift cheaper than moving to a single-story home?

Moving costs in Essex County — real estate commission, closing costs, packing, new deposit — typically run $25,000 to $50,000 minimum given northern New Jersey home values. A straight stairlift installs in under four hours for $2,800 to $5,500 and lets you stay in the home you’ve lived in for decades, in the neighborhood you know, near the doctors and friends you already have. For most Cedar Grove families, the stairlift costs less than the real estate commission alone.

Do you offer financing for Cedar Grove homeowners?

Yes. We offer 12-month interest-free financing on straight and curved installs. Monthly payments on a $3,500 straight rail work out to about $292 a month — less than most car payments. The application takes five minutes on-site during your free assessment. We also accept credit cards, checks, and direct bank transfers. No prepayment penalties.

A word from Luis

Cedar Grove families call when the stairs in a house they’ve owned since the Eisenhower years stop being routine. A retired teacher on Fairview Avenue whose second-floor bedroom is suddenly unreachable after hip surgery at St. Joseph’s in Wayne. A son in Montclair worried about his mother navigating the steep colonial staircase alone every night.

I drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and hand you a written quote honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.
