Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Plymouth County

Plymouth County, MA

In Montello and downtown Brockton, the conversation is almost always about triple-decker stairwells — narrow, steep, original fir treads that have been walked smooth over a hundred years. We know which buildings have the 28-inch clear width that requires a slim-profile rail and which have the wider 32-inch stairwells that take a standard mount. In Campello and the South Side, the Campanelli ranches and post-war Cape Cods dominate — these are the split-level-to-basement installs and the straight 13-step bedroom runs that make up the bulk of our Plymouth County work. Over in Brockton Heights and Clifton Heights, the housing shifts to Colonial Revivals and larger Cape Cods with formal front staircases — wider treads, hardwood banisters, homeowners who care about the finished look. We also cover Abington, West Bridgewater, Whitman, and Stoughton.

Montello triple-decker — straight rail on original hardwood oak treads

Montello, MA Installed March 2026

A 1920s triple-decker on North Montello Street with original oak treads worn concave from a century of use. Mrs. DaSilva has lived on the second floor for 41 years and hadn't been down to the first-floor laundry in three months after a fall on the landing. The stairwell was 30 inches wide — tight but workable with our slim-profile rail. We bolted the track into the oak treads, not the plaster walls, and mounted the chair so it parks flush at the second-floor landing with the seat folded. Mrs. DaSilva did her own laundry the morning after install.

Brockton Heights Colonial Revival — curved rail with upper-landing turn

Brockton Heights, MA Installed February 2026

A 1940s Colonial Revival in Brockton Heights with a formal walnut banister and an L-shaped staircase that turns 90 degrees at the upper landing before opening onto the second-floor hallway. Mr. Keane had both knees replaced at Good Samaritan Medical Center and was sleeping in the den for six weeks because the turn at the top was impossible with a walker. We laser-scanned the staircase, fabricated a curved rail that follows the full run including the upper turn, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the top so he steps off directly onto the hallway floor.

Campello Cape Cod — straight rail on cottage-style stone-trimmed entry stairs

Campello, MA Installed January 2026

A 1952 Cape Cod in Campello with a stone-trimmed entry foyer and a straight 13-step run to the second-floor bedrooms. Mrs. Paiva's son called us after she missed the bottom step carrying a laundry basket and fractured her wrist. The treads were original hardwood under wall-to-wall carpet that had been pulled up, leaving clean wood in good condition. We mounted a standard straight rail with reinforced brackets on the exposed treads, added a folding footrest and armrest so the narrow hallway at the bottom stays passable, and left the stone entry trim untouched. Three hours from unboxing to her first ride.

Clifton Heights raised porch — outdoor rail on stone-paved entry steps

Clifton Heights, MA Installed December 2025

A 1930s bungalow in Clifton Heights with a raised front porch and eight exterior stone-paved steps. Mr. Correia is a Korean War-era veteran enrolled at the Brockton VA Medical Center on Belmont Street — the HISA grant covered the full install. The outdoor rail is marine-grade coated for coastal Plymouth County salt air, and the motor housing is IP55 sealed against the nor'easters that dump freezing rain across Brockton every winter. The stone paving was not drilled; the rail anchors into the concrete substructure beneath the stone caps.

West Side Campanelli ranch — straight rail on carpeted split-level stairs

West Side, MA Installed November 2025

A 1958 Campanelli ranch on the West Side with a five-step carpeted drop from the main living area to the basement family room. After a hip replacement at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital, Mr. Nguyen's physical therapist flagged those five carpeted steps as the biggest fall risk in the house. We bolted a short rail through the carpet into the subfloor — no carpet removal, no tread modification — and added a swivel-exit seat at the bottom so he steps off onto the basement floor level. The grandchildren still run up and down beside it without ducking.

Platform Lift

Downtown Brockton two-family — indoor wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Downtown Brockton, MA Installed October 2025

A 1910 two-family house on Warren Avenue in downtown Brockton where Mr. Baptiste uses a power wheelchair after a spinal cord injury and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an indoor inclined platform lift with a flat black non-slip platform, high-visibility yellow safety edges, automatic folding ramp at both levels, and a keyed lockout so the first-floor tenants aren't affected. The Brockton VA Medical Center's spinal cord injury unit referred Mr. Baptiste — HISA covered the full $6,800 grant amount and we financed the balance at 0% for 24 months.

Common Questions

Everything Brockton Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Brockton right now?

Straight rails — the standard for Brockton's triple-deckers, Campanelli ranches, and Cape Cod second floors — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for L-shaped staircases in Brockton Heights colonials and older two-family homes run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is fabricated to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor rails for raised front porches and triple-decker exterior stairs run $4,000 to $7,500 with marine-grade coating included. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes the rail, seat, battery backup, installation, and first service visit.

Do prices differ between a triple-decker install and a single-family Cape Cod?

Equipment prices are the same. What can vary slightly is install labor for the narrow stairwells in Montello and downtown triple-deckers — a 28-inch-wide stairwell takes more precision than a 36-inch-wide Cape Cod staircase, and we sometimes need a slim-profile rail instead of the standard mount. We tell you which rail you need and what it costs during the free assessment — line items on paper, not a vague estimate.

Is there a travel fee for Brockton or Plymouth County?

No. Brockton is the center of our Plymouth County coverage area and we staff it from a local team. No travel surcharge anywhere in Plymouth County — Brockton, Abington, West Bridgewater, Whitman, Stoughton, Holbrook, or any of the surrounding towns served by Old Colony Elder Services.

Does the quote price include everything, or are there add-on charges?

The written quote is all-in — rail, seat, armrests, footrest, safety sensors, battery backup, wall brackets, and installation labor. The only potential add-on is an electrical outlet if your stairway does not have one within 6 feet of the top landing (about $50 to $200 if needed). Marine-grade coating is standard on every Plymouth County outdoor install at no surcharge. No trip fees within the county.

A word from Luis

Most Brockton families call me after a scare on the stairs in a triple-decker or a Campanelli ranch that was built for a young family in 1955, not for the 78-year-old who still lives there. The stairwells in those triple-deckers off Main Street are narrow, steep, and the treads have 70 years of wear. The Campanelli ranches in Campello look flat from the street, but half of them have a split-level drop to the basement family room that gets harder every winter.

I drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a written price honored for 30 days. If you qualify for MassHealth through Old Colony Elder Services down on Main Street, I'll walk you through the waiver paperwork before I leave your kitchen table. En español si lo prefiere.
