Stairlift Service Across St. Clair County

St. Clair County, IL

From the 1890s-1920s worker cottages in West Belleville — narrow two-story frames with steep, enclosed stairwells built for coal miners and brewery workers — to the 1950s-1970s ranches and splits on Signal Hill and along Highway 15, from the Victorian-era homes along West Main and East Main Street with their ornate balusters and 10-foot ceilings to the 1980s-2000s subdivisions near Scott Air Force Base in Shiloh and O'Fallon, our team has mapped the housing stock across the entire Metro East. We know which West Belleville homes have the 26-inch stairwells that only fit a compact rail, which downtown Victorian conversions need creative rail routing around original newel posts, and which Swansea and Fairview Heights splits need curved rails at the half-landing. We serve all of St. Clair County without travel fees — O'Fallon, Swansea, Shiloh, Fairview Heights, Mascoutah, and every township in between.

West Belleville worker cottage — compact rail in a 26-inch stairwell

West Belleville, IL Installed March 2026

A 1908 worker cottage in West Belleville with a stairwell measuring 26 inches wall-to-wall and original fir treads worn smooth from a century of foot traffic. Mrs. Brueggemann is 84 and had been sleeping in the downstairs parlor for six months after a hip replacement. We installed the narrow-seat compact rail, bolted directly into the original fir treads, and added a powered swivel at the top. The folded chair clears the opposite wall by three inches. She uses the upstairs bedroom again every night.

Downtown Victorian — curved rail around an L-shaped staircase

Downtown Belleville, IL Installed February 2026

An 1895 Victorian on East Main Street with an L-shaped staircase, ornate original newel post, and a 90° turn at the landing. Two other companies quoted demolishing the newel post to fit a straight rail. We laser-scanned the staircase and fabricated a curved rail that wraps around the original woodwork without touching it. The chair parks flush at the upper landing and swivels away from the top step. The Illinois Community Care Program covered the full installation cost for Mr. Eckert, who is 78.

Signal Hill ranch — straight rail to lower-level family room

Signal Hill, IL Installed January 2026

A 1965 ranch on Signal Hill with carpeted stairs leading to a lower-level family room. Mr. Schaefer is a retired master sergeant from Scott AFB with degenerative disc disease. The stairs are 14 treads with a tight newel post at the bottom. We bolted the rail into the treads, added a swivel-exit seat at the bottom landing so he steps off facing the family room, and positioned the upper park station flush against the wall. The HISA grant through the St. Louis VA covered $6,800 of the cost.

Swansea split-entry — outdoor stoop lift on raised concrete steps

Swansea, IL Installed November 2025

A 1970s split-entry in Swansea with seven concrete entry steps and an exposed front porch. Mrs. Nguyen is 73 and had fallen on the wet steps during a May thunderstorm. We installed an outdoor stoop lift with weather-sealed motor housing, galvanized hardware, and a drain channel on the rail to prevent water pooling. The Metro East gets severe thunderstorms from April through September, so every outdoor install ships with sealed electrical connections and a corrosion-resistant rail coating as standard.

O'Fallon colonial — rail color-matched to cherry banister

O'Fallon, IL Installed October 2025

A 1990s colonial in O'Fallon with a formal cherry banister and carpeted treads leading to four bedrooms. Mrs. Reinhold was clear: the lift cannot look like a medical device in her front foyer. We specified the slim-profile rail, matched the finish to the cherry stain, and positioned the lower park station so the folded chair sits flush against the wall under the banister. Her book club meets in the dining room monthly and nobody has mentioned the lift.

Platform Lift

Fairview Heights — HISA-funded platform lift for power wheelchair user

Fairview Heights, IL Installed September 2025

A split-level in Fairview Heights with a homeowner who has used a power wheelchair for five years after a combat injury during his service at Scott AFB. A seated stairlift was not an option — Mr. Watkins cannot safely transfer out of his chair. We installed an indoor vertical wheelchair platform lift alongside the existing staircase, with yellow safety edges on the platform perimeter per ADA visibility standards and a keyed lockout so visiting grandchildren cannot operate it unsupervised. The HISA grant through the St. Louis VA Medical Center covered $6,800. We prefilled VA Form 10-0103 and the prescription came back in three weeks.

Common Questions

Everything Belleville Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in the Belleville area?

Straight rails in standard Metro East homes — the Signal Hill ranches, the Swansea splits, the O'Fallon colonials — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for older West Belleville homes with switchback staircases or downtown Victorian conversions with L-shaped turns run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact geometry. Outdoor models for raised entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Belleville is more affordable than St. Louis. Are stairlift prices lower here?

Equipment prices are the same across Illinois. What makes Metro East installs often more affordable is the housing stock — shorter stair runs in post-war ranches, standard tread spacing in the 1960s-1970s construction around Signal Hill and Swansea, and more straight-rail situations than you find in the older Victorian districts. A typical O'Fallon or Shiloh straight rail is at the lower end of the price range. We quote line items, not bundles.

Does Illinois Medicaid cover stairlifts?

Yes, through two programs depending on your age. The Home Services Program (HSP), run by the Illinois Department of Human Services Division of Rehabilitation Services, covers ages 18-59 with significant disabilities. The Community Care Program (CCP), run by the Illinois Department on Aging, covers ages 60+. Both classify stairlifts as Environmental Accessibility Adaptations under the Medicaid HCBS waiver. We are registered with both programs. Ask your DRS counselor or CCP case coordinator about the Environmental Accessibility Adaptation benefit. IDHS Helpline: 1-800-843-6154.

Is there ongoing maintenance or yearly cost?

A stairlift should run for 10+ years with almost no attention. We recommend an annual service visit at around $150 that tops up the battery backup, tests the safety sensors, and lubricates the rail. Batteries typically last 4-6 years and cost $120-$180 to replace. No subscription, no monitoring fees, no cloud account. The Metro East humidity can accelerate rail corrosion on outdoor models — our annual check includes a corrosion inspection on any exterior install.
