Stairlift Service Across Travis County

Travis County, TX

Hyde Park is Austin’s oldest planned suburb — 1890s Victorian and Craftsman bungalows with narrow 28-to-32-inch stair runs, original long-leaf pine treads, and hand-turned oak banisters. Every Hyde Park install uses a slim-profile rail bolted into the tread wood, never into the banister or wall plaster. Exterior-visible installs inside the National Register boundary require an Austin Historic Landmark Commission review, which we file at no charge.

Travis Heights and Bouldin Creek south of Lady Bird Lake are the 1910–1940 bungalow belt — limestone foundations, hand-built treads with tread-to-tread variation that requires shimmed mounting brackets. Pemberton Heights and Tarrytown in Old West Austin have wide curved staircases that almost always need laser-scanned custom curved rails. Westlake Hills is our outdoor specialty — 15-to-40-step hillside runs from driveway to front door, weather-sealed with multi-day battery backup after the 2021 ice event. Mueller townhomes are the fastest Austin installs — standard geometry, often under three hours.

1912 Hyde Park Craftsman — slim rail on original pine treads

Hyde Park, TX Installed March 2026

A 1912 Craftsman bungalow on Avenue B in the Hyde Park National Register district. The treads are original long-leaf pine over dark-stained oak risers, and Mrs. Halverson insisted nothing — not a spindle, not a newel cap — be touched. We bolted a slim-profile straight rail directly into the pine tread wood, color-matched to the original oak so it reads as part of the stair millwork when the seat parks at the bottom landing. The warm wood tones throughout the open-tread staircase made the rail nearly invisible from the foyer.

Pemberton Heights Georgian — curved rail past hand-carved newel

Pemberton Heights, TX Installed January 2026

A 1936 Georgian Revival on West Lynn Street with a sweeping curved staircase and a 90-degree turn at the upper landing. We laser-scanned on the first visit and fabricated a custom curved rail that threads past the original hand-carved oak newel with two inches of clearance. The seat parks at the upper floor hallway next to framed art on the wall, and Dr. Fairbanks rides from the foyer to his second-floor study in one continuous sweep. The rail was color-matched to the trim in the modern, upscale interior.

Travis Heights bungalow — straight rail in a compact 1924 staircase

Travis Heights, TX Installed December 2025

A 1924 limestone-and-wood-frame bungalow on Alameda Drive south of Lady Bird Lake with stone-tile treads and a cozy, compact staircase next to the original wooden sideboard in the hallway. The cottage feel of the home — decorative potted plants, warm wood furniture — meant the rail needed to fit tight against the wall without dominating the narrow space. We bolted the straight rail into the stone substrate beneath the tile and parked the seat at the bottom landing flush against the cabinet. Mrs. Delgado’s mother, 82, rode it the same afternoon. Luis ran the full consultation in Spanish.

Clarksville cottage — outdoor rail on stone-paved front porch entry

Clarksville, TX Installed October 2025

An 1890s wood-frame cottage on West 10th Street in the Clarksville Historic District with a raised front porch and stone-paved entry steps. Ms. Beatrice, 86, needed a weather-sealed outdoor rail from the sidewalk up to her front door. We anchored the cream-colored seat unit into the concrete step footings on the rough natural stone paving, filed the Austin Historic Landmark Commission review at no charge, and received approval in 11 business days. The weather-sealed motor and UV-stabilized upholstery handle Austin’s 100°F summers and the occasional 20°F cold snap.

Allandale ranch — straight rail on carpeted stairs to bonus room

Allandale, TX Installed November 2025

A 1958 Allandale ranch with a carpeted staircase leading to an upstairs bonus room. The plush brown carpet over wood-frame treads required precise stud-finding and pilot-drilling beneath the carpet before placing each bracket. The seat’s brown upholstery matches the carpet tones almost exactly, and the rail parks at the landing area next to the wall-mounted light switches. Mr. Sutherland, recovering from a partial knee replacement, needed the lift running before his discharge from St. David’s. We installed in three hours and he rode it the same evening.

Platform Lift

East Austin — indoor wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

East Austin, TX Installed September 2025

A renovated East Austin home with a four-step interior level change between the main living area and the back hallway. Mr. Morales uses a wheelchair full-time and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat black anti-slip platform, high-visibility yellow safety edges on the perimeter, and a white handrail along the indoor stairway wall. The orange-toned walls and window light in the stairwell give the space a warm residential feel despite the industrial-rated platform. His ALTCS — correction, his STAR+PLUS case manager authorized the modification through Superior HealthPlan in 19 days.

Common Questions

Everything Austin Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Austin right now?

Straight rails in a standard two-story Austin home — Mueller townhomes, Crestview ranches with a basement stair, Allandale mid-century rebuilds — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which are the default in Pemberton Heights Georgian Revivals, Tarrytown Tudors, and the 1910–1940 bungalows of Travis Heights and Hyde Park, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact stair geometry. Outdoor hillside runs in Westlake Hills — the 15-to-40-step driveway-to-door installs — run $4,500 to $9,500 depending on total rise. Every Austin quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes the rail, seat, battery backup, install labor, and the first service visit.

My Hyde Park bungalow is on the National Register. Does the historic review cost extra?

No. If your address is inside the Hyde Park National Register Historic District or one of the other Austin historic districts — Clarksville, Rainey Street, Swede Hill, Robertson/Stuart Mountain, Congress Avenue — and the install is exterior-visible, we file the Austin Historic Landmark Commission review application at no charge. Interior-only installs, which is the vast majority of Hyde Park jobs since the rail bolts into the tread wood rather than the wall or the front porch, don’t require historic review at all. We’ll confirm exactly which category your install falls into during the free assessment, before you commit to anything.

Is there a price difference between Central Austin and suburbs like Round Rock or Cedar Park?

No geographic premium. Our Austin quote covers all of Travis County and extends into Williamson and Hays counties — Hyde Park, Pemberton Heights, and the 78704 zip codes carry the same base price as Round Rock, Cedar Park, Leander, and Kyle. The only pricing variable is the type of installation: straight rail, curved rail, outdoor hillside, or platform lift. Stair geometry drives the number, not the neighborhood or ZIP. Westlake Hills and Rollingwood are also no-surcharge — we staff a dedicated specialist for both cities so there’s no travel cost passed to you.

Do I need to budget separately for battery backup after the 2021 freeze?

No — multi-day battery backup is included in every Austin quote at no additional charge. After Winter Storm Uri stranded seniors upstairs across Hyde Park, Allandale, and Travis Heights for up to a week, we changed our Travis County baseline spec. Every install now ships with a battery rated for multiple days of normal use plus a generator-compatible charge circuit. Outdoor installs in Westlake Hills also get a cold-rated battery because 20°F Hill Country cold snaps fall outside a factory battery’s operating range. This is standard, not an upsell.

A word from Luis

Most Austin families call me after something has already gone wrong — a fall on the original pine treads in a Hyde Park bungalow, a week trapped upstairs during the 2021 freeze, a discharge from Ascension Seton where the surgeon said no stairs for six months. By the time I walk through the door, the family has already decided they need this. My job is to measure once, quote honestly, and install before the next scare.

Half my week is inside 1910–1940 bungalows in Travis Heights and Clarksville — narrow treads, original oak banisters, families who will not let me touch a spindle. The other half is Westlake Hills hillside runs and Mueller townhomes where the real question is battery backup after what February 2021 taught this city. I carry a Chapter 209 HOA packet, a historic-review application, and VA HISA forms in my truck at all times. Atendemos en español.

I have installed over 1,500 stairlifts in Travis County. I know which treads hold, which walls are plaster, and which HOAs need the paperwork before the install truck arrives. Call me directly — you will not reach a call center.
