Stairlift Service Across Erie County

Erie County, NY

Aurora is a National Register village on the eastern shore of Cayuga Lake — the entire village was placed on the NRHP in 1976. The Aurora Village–Wells College Historic District along Main Street carries 1790s Patrick Tavern, 1820s Federal Leffingwell House, 1838 Greek Revival Taylor House, and a stretch of Italianate and Queen Anne homes — steep central-hall stairs, hand-hewn oak treads, walnut banisters owners refuse to touch. Cherry Avenue and Court Street hold smaller 1880s frame cottages with stone entry steps. The hamlets of Sherwood and Levanna in the Town of Ledyard run mid-1800s farmsteads and 1950s ranches. Dublin Hill Road climbs the ridge above the lake — 1970s split-levels where curved rails handle landing turns in one ride.

1838 Greek Revival on Main Street — straight rail bolted to original oak treads

Aurora Village–Wells College Historic District, NY Installed March 2026

An 1838 Greek Revival home on Main Street in the NRHP-listed Aurora Village District with 13 original oak treads and a hand-carved walnut banister the family has polished for generations. We laser-measured a 14-foot run and bolted the slim-profile rail to the treads opposite the banister — historic-district preservation rules satisfied, woodwork untouched. The cream seat parks flush at the bottom landing.

Dublin Hill Road split-level — curved rail through a 90° landing turn

Dublin Hill Road, NY Installed February 2026

A 1970s split-level on Dublin Hill Road overlooking Cayuga Lake — five steps from the front entry to the living area, a 90-degree landing, then eight more to the bedrooms. We laser-scanned the run, bent a single curved rail in the factory, and parked the brown swivel-exit seat at the upper landing. His Syracuse VA provider wrote the HISA prescription and the grant covered $6,800. One ride, zero transfers.

Cherry Avenue cottage — straight rail on stone entry treads, brown seat at bottom

Cherry Avenue, NY Installed January 2026

An 1880s frame cottage on Cherry Avenue with stone entry treads and a tight 30-inch stairwell typical of older Aurora village construction. The brown seat parks at the bottom next to the family's original oak sideboard. Stone treads need a different mounting bracket — we anchored the rail to the wall studs through the stone setting. Folded, the rail and seat take 11 inches; the hallway clears 24 inches for her walker.

Sherwood farmhouse — outdoor lift on stone porch steps, lake-effect rated

Sherwood, NY Installed December 2025

An 1870s farmhouse in the Sherwood hamlet south of Aurora with seven stone front-porch steps that iced over every lake-effect storm rolling off Cayuga Lake. The cream weather-resistant seat parks at the bottom. Every component carries freeze-rated lubricant, UV-stabilized upholstery, and an IP55-sealed motor housing that keeps out blowing snow and the freeze-thaw moisture typical of Finger Lakes winters.

Court Street home — slim-profile rail on carpeted stairs, same-week install

Court Street, NY Installed November 2025

An 1890s frame home on Court Street with carpeted treads and a simple straight-run staircase. The slim-profile rail mounts flush against the wall through the carpet pile into the wooden treads beneath — no carpet removal, no damage. The brown swivel seat at the upper landing lets him step off facing the bedroom hallway. The NHTD Waiver covered the majority of the cost; the install crew finished Thursday afternoon.

Platform Lift

Levanna home — inclined wheelchair platform with yellow safety edges

Levanna, NY Installed October 2025

A multi-level home in the Levanna hamlet north of Aurora village where Mr. Patterson uses a power wheelchair after a service-connected injury. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform along the indoor stairway: flat black anti-slip deck, yellow high-visibility safety edges on every threshold, white handrail, keyed lockout so visiting grandchildren cannot run it. HISA covered $6,800 and the NHTD Waiver picked up the rest.

Common Questions

Everything Aurora Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Aurora, NY?

Straight rails in standard Aurora homes — the Federal and Italianate homes in the historic district along Main Street, the worker-cottages on Cherry Avenue and Court Street, the ranches in Sherwood and Levanna — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for landing turns in older two-story homes and split-levels along Dublin Hill Road run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is fabricated to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised entries and porch steps run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored 30 days.

Are Aurora prices different from Auburn or Ithaca?

Equipment prices are identical across Cayuga County — we do not inflate or discount based on village size. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: hand-hewn oak treads in the NRHP-listed Aurora Village–Wells College Historic District, narrow stairs in 1880s farmsteads along Sherwood and Levanna, and the corrosion-resistant rail coating we spec on every Aurora install for the road-salt and lake-effect humidity off Cayuga Lake. Those are baseline specs, not upcharges.

Is a stairlift cheaper than moving to a single-story home?

Moving costs in Cayuga County — real estate commission, closing costs, packing, new deposits — typically run $12,000 to $25,000 minimum given current home values in the Finger Lakes region. A straight stairlift installs in under four hours for $2,800 to $5,500 and lets you stay in the home you have lived in for decades, near the lake and your community. For most Aurora families, the stairlift costs less than the real estate commission alone — and you keep the house.

Do you offer financing for Aurora homeowners?

Yes. We offer 12-month interest-free financing and extended terms up to 60 months starting at $79 per month for a standard straight install. Approval takes minutes during the in-home visit. We also help you stack financing with VA HISA, the NY NHTD Waiver, or the NYS RESTORE program through Cayuga County so you pay the lowest possible out-of-pocket.

A word from Luis

Aurora families usually call after a close call on the stairs — a retired Wells College professor whose knees gave out after years on the lakefront campus, a grandmother in the historic district who slipped on the steep central-hall oak landing in her 1840s Federal home, a son in Syracuse worried about his father in a farmhouse out on Sherwood Road he refuses to leave. I drive out, measure the staircase, and hand you a written quote honored for 30 days. No pressure, no upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
