Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Cayuga County

Cayuga County, NY

From the stately Victorians, Italianates, and Queen Annes lining South Street in the South Street Area Historic District to the brick foursquares and worker cottages along Genesee Street through downtown, our crew has measured staircases in every corner of Auburn. The West End features a mix of pre-war bungalows, duplexes, and Craftsman homes with narrow interior stairways and raised front porches. Eastside neighborhoods near Owasco Lake have mid-century ranches, split-levels, and newer colonials with wider treads and open floor plans. Homes along North Street and Franklin Street in the north end include older two-story frames with steep original treads dating to the late 1800s. The neighborhoods south of Route 20 toward Owasco Lake feature larger lots with raised foundations and concrete entry steps that become treacherous during Finger Lakes winters.

Genesee Street foursquare — straight rail on carpeted treads with swivel-exit seat

Genesee Street, NY Installed March 2026

A two-story foursquare on Genesee Street with 14 carpeted treads and a tight newel post at the bottom. Mrs. DiMaggio had been sleeping on the parlor sofa for three weeks after a fall on the top step. We laser-measured the run, confirmed the slim-profile rail would leave 22 inches of clear passage, and installed the same week. The swivel seat at the top lets her step onto the hardwood landing instead of balancing on the top tread. Mrs. DiMaggio slept in her own bed that night.

South Street Victorian — curved rail through a 90° landing turn on original hardwood

South Street, NY Installed February 2026

A two-story Victorian in the South Street Area Historic District with eight steps from the front parlor to a 90-degree landing, then seven more steps to the upstairs bedrooms. The Kowalczyk family has owned this home since 1958. We digitally scanned the entire run on the first visit, fabricated a single curved rail that carries Mr. Kowalczyk from the parlor to the upper hallway without stopping, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the top so he steps onto hardwood instead of balancing on the top tread. His VA provider at the Syracuse VA wrote the HISA prescription and the grant covered $6,800.

West End bungalow — straight rail on hardwood stairs beside oak banister

West End, NY Installed January 2026

A 1940s bungalow in the West End with hardwood stairs and a standard 34-inch-wide staircase. The brown-upholstered seat sits at the bottom next to the family's oak banister. The rail bolts into the wooden treads — no wall damage, no banister modification. Folded, the seat and rail take up 11 inches, leaving 23 inches of clear passage. Luis walked the family through every control at the kitchen table after install. They had questions about the battery backup during lake-effect storms — it holds 40 trips on a full charge.

Owasco Lake area ranch — outdoor lift on concrete entry steps with winter-rated hardware

Owasco Lake area, NY Installed December 2025

A raised ranch south of Route 20 near Owasco Lake with six poured-concrete front steps leading to the covered entry. Mr. Sullivan had not used his own front door since the first lake-effect storm in November — his daughter had been driving him around to the garage entrance. The cream-colored weather-resistant seat sits at the bottom step, ready when he comes home from errands. Every component is freeze-thaw rated, coated against road-salt corrosion, and carries a waterproof cover for the seat and controls. The sealed motor housing keeps out moisture, ice melt, and the sand-salt mix the county spreads on roads every winter.

North Street two-story — straight rail on wide oak treads, same-week install

North Street, NY Installed November 2025

A two-story frame home on North Street with wide oak treads and a standard 36-inch staircase. Mr. Tomasetti's daughter in Syracuse called on Wednesday, we measured Thursday morning, and the install crew arrived Friday afternoon. The rail mounts flush against the wall on the right side, leaving the left banister fully open. The swivel seat at the top lets Mr. Tomasetti step off onto the hardwood landing facing the upstairs hallway. He was riding it by Friday evening.

Platform Lift

Franklin Street home — inclined wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Franklin Street, NY Installed October 2025

A two-story home on Franklin Street where Mr. Castellano uses a power wheelchair full-time after a spinal cord injury during his Army service. A seated stairlift was not an option — he needed to ride his chair between floors. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the indoor stairway: a flat black anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges on all thresholds, white handrails, and a keyed lockout so visiting grandchildren cannot activate it unsupervised. The HISA grant covered $6,800 and NY Medicaid covered the remaining balance through his service coordinator at Cayuga County DSS. Mr. Castellano rolls onto the platform, presses one button, and rides the incline to the upper floor without leaving his chair.

Common Questions

Everything Auburn Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Auburn, NY?

Straight rails in Auburn homes — the foursquares along Genesee Street, the bungalows in the West End, the ranches near Owasco Lake — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for the Victorians and Italianates on South Street with landing turns run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your staircase's exact geometry. Outdoor models for raised front porches run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are Auburn prices different from Syracuse or Geneva?

Equipment prices are identical across Central New York — we do not adjust based on city size. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: narrow pre-war treads in the South Street Historic District, steep back stairs in older North Street duplexes, and the freeze-thaw-rated hardware we spec as standard on every outdoor Auburn install. Those are baseline specs, not upcharges. We list every line item on the written quote.

Is a stairlift cheaper than moving to a single-story home?

Relocation costs in Cayuga County — real estate commission, closing costs, moving crew, new deposits — run $10,000 to $20,000 minimum. A straight stairlift installs in under four hours for $2,800 to $5,500 and lets you stay in the home you have lived in for decades, in the neighborhood you know, close to your doctors at Auburn Community Hospital. For most Auburn families, the stairlift costs less than the real estate commission alone.

Do you offer financing for Auburn homeowners?

Yes. We offer 12-month interest-free financing and extended terms up to 60 months starting at $79 per month for a standard straight install. Approval takes minutes during the in-home visit. We also help you stack financing with VA HISA, NY Medicaid waivers, or the IRS medical deduction so you pay the lowest possible out-of-pocket.

A word from Luis

Auburn families usually call after a fall or a close call on the stairs — a grandmother who lost her balance on the worn treads of a South Street Victorian, a father recovering from knee surgery at Auburn Community Hospital who hasn't been upstairs in six weeks, a daughter in Syracuse worried about her parents in a foursquare on Genesee Street they've owned since the 1960s.

I drive out, measure the staircase, and hand you a written quote good for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. The assessment is free regardless of whether you move forward.
