Stairlift Service Across Onondaga County

Onondaga County, NY

From the 1890s Victorians of Strathmore — where curved rails thread past original walnut newel posts without touching a spindle — to the compact worker housing on Tipp Hill with 29-inch stairwells that demand slim-profile rails, our team has mapped every Syracuse stair type. Meadowbrook ranches and split-levels are the highest-volume straight installs. Sedgwick homes have the largest floor plans and angular staircases. Eastwood and the Near Westside are where NHTD and MLTC funding paths are most common.

Straight

Strathmore Victorian — straight rail on original oak treads

Strathmore, NY Installed March 2026

A 1902 Strathmore Victorian with original oak treads and a walnut banister the family has maintained for four generations. Mrs. O’Brien had been sleeping on the main floor for three weeks after a hip replacement at Upstate Medical. We bolted the straight rail into the oak treads — zero contact with the walnut banister — and she was upstairs in her own bedroom that evening. The cold-weather battery handled a March ice storm without missing a trip.

Meadowbrook split-level — curved rail with swivel-exit at upper landing

Meadowbrook, NY Installed February 2026

A 1958 Meadowbrook split-level with a 90° turn at the mid-landing between the main floor and the upstairs bedrooms. Two other companies said the Kellers would need two separate lifts. We laser-scanned the entire staircase, fabricated a single curved rail that carries Mr. Keller from the lower foyer to the upper hallway in one ride, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the top so he steps off directly onto the landing instead of the top tread.

Tipp Hill Irish-heritage home — slim-profile rail in a 29-inch stairwell

Tipp Hill, NY Installed January 2026

A 1918 Tipp Hill row house with one of the narrowest stairwells in Onondaga County — 29 inches from wall to banister. Two other companies said a lift wouldn’t fit. We measured on the first visit, confirmed clearance for the slim-profile rail at just 10.5 inches from the wall, and installed in three hours. Mr. Flanagan still has 17 inches of clear walking width beside the folded seat, and he was upstairs in his own bedroom that night for the first time in two months.

Outdoor

Eastwood colonial — outdoor rail through 120+ inches of Syracuse snow

Eastwood, NY Installed December 2025

An Eastwood colonial with a raised front porch and 10 exterior concrete steps — the only path from the driveway to the front door. Mrs. Jennings qualified for the NHTD Waiver, which covered the full outdoor install. We anchored the rail into the concrete steps with stainless-steel fasteners, sealed the motor housing to IP55, and installed the heated joystick enclosure. The rail has survived a full Syracuse winter — 120+ inches of snow, -20°F windchill, and repeated freeze-thaw cycles — without a service call.

Sedgwick home — straight rail on hardwood treads, VA HISA funded

Sedgwick, NY Installed November 2025

A large Sedgwick home with 14 hardwood treads and a Vietnam-era veteran who had been avoiding the second floor for months. Mr. Palazzo’s HISA grant through the Syracuse VA Medical Center covered the entire straight-rail install. We bolted the rail into the original hardwood treads, mounted the seat with a swivel exit at the upper landing, and had him riding upstairs the same afternoon. Not one service call since November.

Platform Lift

Westcott duplex — indoor wheelchair platform lift with safety edges

Westcott, NY Installed October 2025

A 1920s Westcott duplex where Mr. Morales uses a power wheelchair after a spinal cord injury. The five-step interior level change between the main entry and the living area required a wheelchair platform lift — not a seated stairlift. We installed a flat platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges, controls at wheelchair height on both levels, and an automatic safety gate that locks before the platform moves. A new dedicated 120V circuit was pulled under our licensed electrician. Mr. Morales rolls on, presses one button, and rolls off on the main floor.

Common Questions

Everything Syracuse Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Syracuse right now?

Straight rails in standard Syracuse homes — the Meadowbrook ranches, the Eastwood colonials, the Westcott two-stories — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for Strathmore Victorians and Sedgwick homes with mid-landing turns run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is fabricated to your exact stair geometry. Outdoor models for raised porches and exterior steps run $4,000 to $7,500 with cold-weather spec standard. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Do cold-weather batteries cost extra?

No. Every stairlift we install in Syracuse ships with the cold-weather battery pack rated to -20°F as standard. National chains price this as a $250 to $400 add-on. We include it because a standard battery in a Syracuse home with an unheated stairwell or an outdoor rail can fail during a January cold snap. Our quote covers the upgraded battery, the heated joystick enclosure on outdoor models, and the stainless-steel fasteners. No line-item surprises.

Are prices different in Syracuse than Rochester or Buffalo?

Equipment prices are identical across New York State — we don’t inflate quotes for a Strathmore address or discount for an Eastwood one. What can vary slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: threading a curved rail past original walnut millwork in a Strathmore Victorian, pulling a dedicated circuit in a Tipp Hill home with original 1920s knob-and-tube, or running a 20-foot outdoor rail on a Sedgwick raised porch. We itemize everything. No hidden Syracuse premiums.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift available in Syracuse?

Used straight rails run $1,500 to $2,800 installed — roughly half the cost of new. We recondition every unit in-house: new cold-weather batteries, new upholstery, factory-tested motor and safety sensors. Curved rails cannot be reused because every curved track is fabricated to one specific staircase. If your Meadowbrook ranch or Eastwood colonial has a standard straight run, a refurbished unit is a solid option with the same labor warranty and 24-hour service coverage.

A word from Luis

Syracuse calls split into two categories — families in Strathmore or Sedgwick Victorians with original walnut banisters they refuse to let anyone touch, and homeowners who need an outdoor rail that survives 120 inches of snow and -20°F windchill without corroding. I drive out within 24 hours, measure every tread, and hand you a written quote good for 30 days.

Cold-weather battery packs and stainless-steel fasteners are standard on every install — not an add-on. I also handle NHTD waiver paperwork through the Regional Resource Development Center and VA HISA applications for Onondaga County veterans. En español si lo prefiere.
