Stairlift Service Across Lee County

Lee County, AL

Cary Woods is where the stairlift conversation happens most in Auburn — 1950s faculty ranches with 12-to-14-tread staircases, original hardwood banisters, and red-clay foundation settlement that requires shimmed rail brackets. Downtown Auburn and the South College corridor have older bungalows with narrower stairs, steeper pitches, and occasional knob-and-tube wiring needing a dedicated circuit before install day. Moore’s Mill and Yarbrough Farms are newer builds with wider stairs and installs that wrap in under three hours. In Opelika, Historic Downtown and Northside hold the most challenging work — early-1900s homes with steep runs, narrow treads, and original millwork owners refuse to alter.

1958 Cary Woods ranch — straight rail on settled hardwood treads

Cary Woods, AL Installed March 2026

A 1958 ranch in Cary Woods with original hardwood treads and a banister the family has never refinished. Mrs. Etheridge is a retired English professor who broke her hip on the top tread last November. The red-clay foundation had settled about 3/8 inch over 66 years, leaving two treads noticeably uneven. Rail brackets were shimmed to match the actual stair geometry, and the track bolted into the original hardwood treads without touching the banister. She was riding between floors before her follow-up orthopedist appointment.

1907 Historic Downtown Opelika — curved rail past an original poplar banister

Historic Downtown Opelika, AL Installed February 2026

A 1907 two-story in the Historic Downtown Opelika district with an original tulip poplar banister, steep 43-degree pitch, and a 90-degree turn at the upper landing. The curved rail threads past the original newel post without touching a single spindle, and a swivel-exit seat at the top lets Mrs. Slaughter step off onto the hallway floor. The rail parks flush at the lower landing and the banister is exactly where it’s been for 119 years.

South College bungalow — straight rail on stone-tile treads beside the hall cabinet

South College corridor, AL Installed January 2026

A 1948 bungalow on the South College corridor with original stone-tile treads, plaster walls, and a narrow stairwell with a wooden sideboard and potted plant at the bottom landing. The straight rail was anchored into the stone treads using masonry anchors, and the seat parks flush beside the sideboard in the compact stairwell. The cottage character of the space is unchanged — visitors walk past without noticing the rail tucked against the wall.

Opelika raised porch — weather-sealed outdoor lift on stone paving for a veteran

Opelika, AL Installed December 2025

A 1960s ranch in Opelika with a raised front porch, exterior steps, and rough natural stone paving at the ground level. Mr. Tate is a veteran enrolled at the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System in Tuskegee. The HISA grant covered $6,800 of the cost after his VA provider wrote the prescription. The cream-colored weather-resistant seat is sealed against Alabama humidity, UV-coated for the Southern summer, and the motor housing carries an IP55 rating against the afternoon thunderstorms that sweep through Lee County.

Moore’s Mill colonial — straight rail on carpeted stairs with HOA approval

Moore's Mill, AL Installed November 2025

A 2002 colonial in Moore’s Mill with carpeted stairs, a landing at the midpoint, and an HOA that required a reasonable-accommodation filing before install. The brown-upholstered seat matches the carpet tones, and the rail bolts through the carpet into the wooden substructure without pulling or tearing a single fiber. Moore’s Mill’s HOA approved the accommodation packet in three days. Mrs. Calloway hosted her book club the following week and nobody mentioned the lift.

Platform Lift

Yarbrough Farms — indoor wheelchair platform lift for full-time chair user

Yarbrough Farms, AL Installed October 2025

A 2008 two-story in Yarbrough Farms where Mr. Poole transitioned to a full-time wheelchair after his double knee replacement at East Alabama Medical Center. A seated stairlift was not an option at 340 lbs with limited ability to transfer from his chair. The inclined wheelchair platform lift features a flat black anti-slip surface with high-visibility yellow safety edges, white handrails on both sides, and rides the indoor carpeted stairway between floors. The wide stairs in this post-2000 build leave clearance for family to walk past the folded platform.

Common Questions

Everything Auburn Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Auburn-Opelika right now?

Straight rails in standard Auburn homes — the Cary Woods ranches, the Moore’s Mill two-stories, the newer builds in Yarbrough Farms — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, needed for most early-1900s Opelika homes and non-standard stair runs, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised front porches run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices higher for homes in Moore’s Mill or Ogletree Village?

Equipment prices are the same whether your home is a 1955 Cary Woods ranch or a 2020 custom build in Moore’s Mill. What can vary slightly is install labor for unusual conditions — shimming brackets on settled foundations in older Cary Woods homes, pulling a dedicated circuit in a pre-1960 house with original wiring, or fabricating a curved rail for a non-standard Opelika staircase.

Do you charge a travel fee for Opelika or Tuskegee installs?

No. Auburn, Opelika, Loachapoka, Notasulga, Camp Hill, and Tuskegee are all inside our standard coverage area. Same pricing, same response time, same installer. The only scenario where a mileage fee could apply is if you’re well outside Lee and Macon counties.

Do you offer Auburn University employee or retiree pricing?

We don’t run a formal university discount — our standard pricing is already lower than the national chains because we don’t add corporate overhead or dealer markups. Many Auburn retirees combine the IRS medical expense deduction (if a physician recommends the lift in writing) with Alabama Homestead Exemption savings to reduce the effective out-of-pocket cost significantly.

A word from Luis

Most Auburn families call me after a specific moment — a retired professor who slipped on the stairs in a Cary Woods ranch she’s lived in since 1968, a grown child in Birmingham worried about a parent alone in a two-story near campus, a widow in Opelika whose husband handled the stairs and now she has to figure them out herself.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days.
