Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Contra Costa County

Contra Costa County, CA

From the executive homes along Livorna Road — where 1970s and 1980s custom-built four-bedrooms on wooded hillside lots have long straight staircases with hardwood treads and wrought-iron banisters — to the ranch-style homes along Stone Valley Road with their split-level floor plans and mid-landing turns, our team has measured stairs across every part of Alamo. The estates backing up to Las Trampas Regional Wilderness have wide open-tread staircases that install in three hours. Round Hill and Westside Drive properties from the 1960s often have narrower treads and original oak banisters that demand slim-profile rails. The newer builds along Danville Boulevard near the Alamo Plaza shopping center have builder-grade carpeted stairs and standard dimensions.

1982 Livorna Road custom — straight rail on original hardwood treads

Livorna Road, CA Installed March 2026

A 1982 custom-built four-bedroom on a wooded hillside lot along Livorna Road with 14 original hardwood treads and a wrought-iron banister. Mrs. Kimura had been sleeping on the living room sofa for six weeks after knee replacement surgery at John Muir Medical Center because the 15-foot straight run to the master bedroom was impossible. We drove out Monday morning, confirmed the measurements with a laser, verified the solid hardwood treads could accept the mounting bolts, and installed Wednesday afternoon. The rail parks flush against the wall at the bottom landing. Mrs. Kimura slept in her own bed that night.

1975 Stone Valley Road ranch — curved rail through a 90-degree landing turn

Stone Valley Road, CA Installed February 2026

A 1975 ranch-style home on Stone Valley Road with five steps from the entry to the living area, a 90-degree landing, and nine more steps to the upper bedrooms. Mr. Larson retired from the Army in 2001 and has lived in this house since 1988. We laser-scanned the full run on the first visit, fabricated a single curved rail that carries him from the entry to the upper hallway without stopping, and installed a swivel-exit seat so he steps off onto carpet instead of balancing on the top tread. His VA provider at the Martinez Outpatient Clinic wrote the HISA prescription, and the grant covered $6,800 of the cost.

1965 Round Hill ranch — compact stairway beside wooden sideboard, narrow treads

Round Hill, CA Installed January 2026

A 1965 ranch near Round Hill Country Club with a compact staircase only 33 inches wide between the banister and the wall. The brown-upholstered seat sits at the bottom of the stairs next to the family's wooden sideboard and a potted plant Mrs. Diaz keeps by the landing. The original oak treads gave the slim-profile rail solid anchoring — folded, the seat and rail together take up just 10 inches, leaving 23 inches of clear passage for the grandchildren who visit from Walnut Creek every weekend. Luis walked the family through every button at the kitchen table.

Westside Drive hillside lot — outdoor lift on stone-paver entry steps

Westside Drive, CA Installed December 2025

A hillside home on Westside Drive with a raised front entry and six stone-paver steps from the driveway to the covered porch that get slick during the Bay Area's rainy season from November through March. Mrs. Novak slipped twice in one month after the December rains started. The cream-colored weather-resistant seat mounts on a galvanized rail anchored directly into the stone paving with stainless anchors. The IP55-sealed motor housing handles winter rain and the UV-coated components withstand summer sun on the west-facing entry. The battery backup kept the lift running through the January power outage.

Danville Boulevard two-story — straight rail on carpeted stairs, same-week install

Danville Boulevard, CA Installed November 2025

A 2001 two-story near the Alamo Plaza shopping center with carpeted stairs and a standard 36-inch-wide staircase. The brown-upholstered seat matches the carpet tones on the landing, blending into the stairway rather than standing out. Mr. Chen's daughter called from San Francisco on Monday, we measured Monday afternoon, and the install crew was at the house Wednesday morning. The rail bolts through the carpet into the wooden treads beneath — no carpet removal, no damage to the pile. The seat folds flat against the wall, and the grandchildren who visit on weekends use the stairs without bumping into it.

Platform Lift

Las Trampas estate — inclined wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Las Trampas, CA Installed October 2025

A custom home backing up to Las Trampas Regional Wilderness with a five-step interior rise between the garage entry and the main living level. Mr. Hernandez is a disabled veteran who uses a power wheelchair full-time after bilateral below-knee amputation. A seated stairlift was not an option — he needed to roll on, ride up, and roll off. We installed an indoor inclined platform lift with a flat black anti-slip surface, bright yellow high-visibility pressure-sensitive safety edges on all sides, and a white handrail. The VA HISA grant covered the full $6,800 service-connected maximum, and Medi-Cal HCBS covered the remaining balance through his managed care plan coordinator. Mr. Hernandez rolls onto the platform, presses one button, and rides the incline to the main floor without ever leaving his chair.

Common Questions

Everything Alamo Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Alamo, CA right now?

Straight rails in standard Alamo homes — the hillside customs along Livorna Road, the ranches on Stone Valley Road, the newer builds near Danville Boulevard — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for homes with landing turns or L-shaped staircases run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised front entries and hillside porch steps run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are Alamo prices higher than Walnut Creek or Concord?

Equipment prices are identical whether you are in Alamo, Walnut Creek, or Concord. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: the extra-long staircases in Livorna Road hillside homes that need 18-foot or 20-foot rails, the narrow original treads in 1960s Round Hill ranches, and the custom iron banisters in Las Trampas estates that require slim-profile mounting. We tell you the line items upfront on the written quote.

Is a stairlift cheaper than moving in the current Alamo market?

Median home prices in Alamo run above $2 million. Moving costs — real estate commission, closing costs, packing, new deposit — easily exceed $120,000 for a typical transaction. A straight stairlift installs in under four hours for $2,800 to $5,500 and lets you stay in the home you built your life in, in the community you know, near John Muir Medical Center and the doctors who already have your records. For most Alamo families, the stairlift costs less than one percent of the real estate commission.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. Every Alamo assessment can be conducted in Spanish at your request. Luis is bilingual and has walked families across Contra Costa County through every line of the paperwork in their preferred language. Every printed quote, consent form, and operating manual is available in Spanish. Zero surcharge.

A word from Luis

Alamo families call because they built the life they want in a home they love — a four-bedroom on a hillside lot off Livorna Road, a ranch on an acre near Round Hill Country Club, a custom home backing up to Las Trampas ridge — and leaving is not on the table. The stairs worked fine at 65. After a knee replacement at John Muir or a fall nobody saw, those 14 steps become the one barrier between your parent and the master bedroom they have slept in for 30 years.

I drive out the same day you call, measure your staircase, and hand you a written quote that holds for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.

— Luis Ramírez, Alamo
