Stairlift Service Across Aiken County

Aiken County, SC

From the tree-lined avenues of Aiken’s Historic District — where two-story Victorians and antebellum homes sit behind magnolias on deep lots a short walk from Hitchcock Woods — to the gated villas of Woodside Plantation with their single-story floor plans and wide hallways designed for active adult living, our team has measured staircases across every Aiken neighborhood. Houndslake’s golf-course homes take standard straight runs on carpeted treads. Aiken Heights’ brick colonials have wider staircases with landing turns. The Estates at Chukker Creek feature two-story foyers with curved stairwells. Aiken Estates’ postwar ranch-style homes along Whiskey Road often have basement stairs with tight banister clearances that require our slim-profile rail.

Aiken Heights brick colonial — straight rail on carpeted treads

Aiken Heights, SC Installed March 2026

A brick colonial in Aiken Heights with 13 carpeted treads and a wooden banister. Mr. Jenkins retired from the Savannah River Site in 2009 and had been avoiding the upstairs bedrooms for three months after bilateral knee replacement surgery at Aiken Regional Medical Center. We drove over the next morning, laser-measured the 14-foot run, confirmed the wooden treads beneath the carpet could accept the mounting hardware, and installed the same week. The rail parks flush against the wall at the bottom. Mr. Jenkins slept in his own bedroom that night for the first time in three months.

1890s Historic District Victorian — curved rail through a sweeping banister turn

Historic District, SC Installed February 2026

An 1890s Victorian in Aiken’s Historic District with a sweeping wooden staircase that curves 180 degrees from the front parlor to the upper hallway. The original heart-pine banister and newel post are part of the home’s historic character and could not be altered. We laser-scanned the full run, fabricated a curved rail that follows the existing geometry without touching any original woodwork, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the top. Mrs. Fletcher is 84 and has lived in this house for 52 years. She takes the lift to her upstairs bedroom every night and says it feels like the house was built for it.

Aiken Estates ranch — slim-profile rail on basement stairs

Aiken Estates, SC Installed January 2026

A postwar ranch in Aiken Estates along Whiskey Road with a basement staircase only 32 inches wide between the handrail and the concrete block wall. The basement houses Mr. Lawson’s woodworking shop and he refused to give it up. The slim-profile rail folds to just 11 inches from the wall, leaving 21 inches of clear passage. We anchored the mounting hardware directly into the concrete treads using masonry-rated fasteners. Mr. Lawson rides the lift to his shop every morning and says his golf game at Houndslake improved because he’s not exhausted from the stairs before he even gets to the first tee.

Woodside Plantation villa — outdoor lift on raised front porch steps

Woodside Plantation, SC Installed December 2025

A villa in Woodside Plantation with a raised front porch and five brick steps that get slippery during Aiken’s summer thunderstorms. Mrs. Mitchell slipped on the top step last August during a downpour and bruised her hip. Her daughter called us the following morning. We measured the entry steps, installed the outdoor lift with UV-stabilized housing rated for South Carolina’s 95°F+ summers, marine-grade stainless fasteners, a drainage channel to prevent standing water on the rail, and a fitted cover. The battery backup kept the lift running through three summer power outages. Mrs. Mitchell hasn’t worried about those steps since.

Houndslake golf community home — straight rail, same-week install

Houndslake, SC Installed November 2025

A two-story home in the Houndslake golf community with a standard 36-inch-wide staircase and carpeted treads. Mr. Lawrence’s daughter in Charlotte called on Tuesday, we measured Wednesday morning, and the install crew was at the house Friday. The rail bolts through the carpet into the wooden treads beneath — no carpet removal, no damage to the pile. The seat folds flat against the wall. Mr. Lawrence plays golf at Houndslake three mornings a week and says the stairs at home used to be harder than the back nine. Now he doesn’t think about them.

Platform Lift

Chukker Creek home — inclined wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Chukker Creek, SC Installed October 2025

A two-story home in the Chukker Creek neighborhood where Mr. Washington uses a power wheelchair full-time after a service-connected injury at Fort Gordon. A seated stairlift was not an option — he needed to ride his chair between floors. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the indoor stairway: a flat black anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges on all thresholds, white handrails, and a keyed lockout so visiting grandchildren can’t activate it unsupervised. The HISA grant covered the full $6,800 service-connected maximum, and the Community Choices Medicaid Waiver covered the remaining balance through his case manager at the Aiken Area Council on Aging. Mr. Washington rolls onto the platform, presses one button, and rides the incline to the upper floor without ever leaving his chair.

Common Questions

Everything Aiken Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Aiken, SC?

Straight rails in standard Aiken homes — the ranches along Whiskey Road, the villas in Woodside, the colonials in Aiken Heights — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for landing turns in Historic District Victorians and Chukker Creek stairwells run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised front porches and garage-to-entry stairs run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are Aiken prices different from Augusta or North Augusta?

Equipment prices are identical across the Central Savannah River Area — we don’t inflate or discount based on whether you’re in South Carolina or Georgia. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: steep Victorian stairwells in the Historic District, multi-level landing fabrication in Chukker Creek, and the humidity-rated lubricant and UV-stabilized motor housing we spec as standard on every Aiken install (those are baseline, not upcharges). We list every line item on the written quote so you see exactly what you’re paying for.

Is a stairlift cheaper than moving from a two-story to a single-story?

Moving costs in Aiken County — real estate commission, closing costs, packing, new deposit — typically run $15,000 to $30,000 minimum in today’s market. A straight stairlift installs in under four hours for $2,800 to $5,500 and lets you stay in the home you’ve lived in for decades, in the neighborhood you know, near the doctors and friends you already have. For most Aiken families, the stairlift costs less than the real estate commission alone.

Do you offer financing in Aiken?

Yes. We offer fixed-rate financing from $79 per month with no prepayment penalties. Most Aiken homeowners choose 36- or 60-month terms. You can also combine financing with VA HISA grant funds or South Carolina’s Community Choices Medicaid Waiver to reduce or eliminate out-of-pocket cost. We walk you through every option during the free assessment.

A word from Luis

Most Aiken calls start the same way — a retired Savannah River Site engineer whose knees gave out in a Woodside villa, a widow in the Historic District whose two-story Victorian has a staircase she hasn’t climbed since hip surgery at Aiken Regional Medical Center, or a military family in Aiken Heights whose father served at Fort Gordon and now needs the VA to help cover the cost.

My job is straightforward: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure the staircase, and hand you a written quote that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
