Stairlift Service Across Hampden County

Hampden County, MA

From the postwar ranches along Suffield Street — where three-bedroom homes on half-acre lots sit within walking distance of Agawam High School — to the Colonial Revivals and garrison colonials that line the winding roads of Feeding Hills with their sunrooms and attached garages, our team has measured staircases across every Agawam neighborhood. Silver Hill Village’s single-story and split-level homes along Silver Street take standard straight runs. North Agawam’s older Cape Cods near the Connecticut River have steep, narrow stairs original to their 1940s construction. The newer developments near Robinson State Park feature wider treads and open floor plans. Along Springfield Street near Six Flags, the mid-century homes often have tight banister clearances and hardwood treads that require our slim-profile rail.

1952 Suffield Street ranch — straight rail on carpeted treads

Suffield Street, MA Installed March 2026

A 1952 ranch on Suffield Street with 12 carpeted treads and a wooden banister. Mr. Morrison had been avoiding the basement laundry room for six weeks after knee replacement surgery at Baystate Medical Center because the steep stairs were off-limits per his physical therapist. We drove over the next morning, laser-measured the 13-foot run, confirmed the wooden treads beneath the carpet could accept the mounting hardware, and installed the same week. The rail bolts through the carpet into the treads — no carpet removal, no damage. The seat folds flat against the wall at the bottom. Mr. Morrison does his own laundry again.

1968 Feeding Hills garrison colonial — curved rail through a 90° landing

Feeding Hills, MA Installed February 2026

A 1968 garrison colonial in Feeding Hills with six steps from the front entry to a 90-degree landing, then nine more steps to the second-floor hallway. Mrs. Dubois is 78 and has lived in this house since 1975. She stopped using the upstairs bedrooms after her husband passed and was sleeping in the sunroom. We laser-scanned the full run on the first visit, fabricated a single curved rail that carries her from the entry to the upper hallway without stopping, and installed a swivel-exit seat so she steps off onto carpet. She sleeps in her own bedroom again for the first time in two years.

1945 North Agawam Cape Cod — slim-profile rail on steep original staircase

North Agawam, MA Installed January 2026

A 1945 Cape Cod near the Connecticut River in North Agawam with a steep, narrow staircase only 31 inches wide between the original banister and the plaster wall. The dense hardwood treads gave the slim-profile rail solid anchoring — folded, the seat and rail together take up just 11 inches, leaving 20 inches of clear passage. We never touched the original banister or crown molding. Mr. Kowalski is a Korean War-era Army veteran whose VA provider at the Boland VA Medical Center wrote the HISA prescription. The grant covered $6,800 toward the total cost.

Silver Hill Village ranch — outdoor lift on icy front porch steps

Silver Hill Village, MA Installed December 2025

A ranch-style home in Silver Hill Village with a raised front porch and six concrete steps that ice over every winter. Mrs. Pellegrini slipped on the top step during the January nor’easter and fractured her wrist. Her daughter called us while she was still at Baystate Medical Center. We measured the entry steps, installed the outdoor lift with heated rail contacts to prevent ice buildup, marine-grade stainless fasteners to resist the freeze-thaw cycle, and a fitted cover. The battery backup kept the lift running through a February power outage. Mrs. Pellegrini hasn’t worried about those steps since.

Robinson State Park area colonial — straight rail, same-week install

Robinson State Park area, MA Installed November 2025

A 1980s colonial near Robinson State Park with a standard 36-inch-wide staircase and carpeted treads. Mr. Lavoie’s son in Connecticut called on Monday, we measured Tuesday morning, and the install crew was at the house Thursday. The rail bolts through the carpet into the wooden treads beneath — no carpet removal, no damage to the pile. The seat folds flat against the wall. Mr. Lavoie walks to Robinson State Park twice a week and says knowing the stairs are handled when he gets home changed everything.

Platform Lift

Springfield Street home — inclined wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Springfield Street, MA Installed October 2025

A two-story home on Springfield Street where Mr. Hernandez uses a power wheelchair full-time after a service-connected spinal injury. A seated stairlift was not an option — he needed to ride his chair between floors. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the indoor stairway: a flat black anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges on all thresholds, white handrails, and a keyed lockout so visiting grandchildren can’t activate it unsupervised. The HISA grant covered the full $6,800 service-connected maximum, and the MassHealth Frail Elder Waiver covered the remaining balance through his case manager at WestMass ElderCare. Mr. Hernandez rolls onto the platform, presses one button, and rides the incline to the upper floor without ever leaving his chair.

Common Questions

Everything Agawam Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Agawam, MA?

Straight rails in standard Agawam homes — the ranches along Suffield Street, the Cape Cods in North Agawam, the colonials in Feeding Hills — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for landing turns in Silver Hill split-levels and Feeding Hills garrison colonials run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised front entries and bulkhead stairs run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are Agawam prices different from Springfield or West Springfield?

Equipment prices are identical across the Pioneer Valley — we don’t inflate or discount based on proximity to Springfield. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: steep pre-war treads in North Agawam Cape Cods, split-level landing fabrication in Silver Hill Village, and the freeze-rated lubricant and winterized motor housing we spec as standard on every Agawam install (those are baseline, not upcharges). We list every line item on the written quote so you see exactly what you’re paying for.

Is a stairlift cheaper than moving to a single-story condo?

Moving costs in Hampden County — real estate commission, closing costs, packing, new deposit — typically run $15,000 to $35,000 minimum in today’s Pioneer Valley market. A straight stairlift installs in under four hours for $2,800 to $5,500 and lets you stay in the home you’ve lived in for decades, in the neighborhood you know, near the doctors and friends you already have. For most Agawam families, the stairlift costs less than the real estate commission alone.

Do you offer financing in Agawam?

Yes. We offer fixed-rate financing from $79 per month with no prepayment penalties. Most Agawam homeowners choose 36- or 60-month terms. You can also combine financing with VA HISA grant funds, MassHealth Frail Elder Waiver coverage, or the Home Modification Loan Program (HMLP) through MassAbility to reduce or eliminate out-of-pocket cost. We walk you through every option during the free assessment.

A word from Luis

Most Agawam calls start the same way — someone’s parent fell on the stairs in a 1950s ranch off Suffield Street, or a retired couple in Feeding Hills realized the second-floor bedrooms in their Colonial Revival are going unused because the staircase feels too steep after knee replacement surgery at Baystate Medical Center.

My job is straightforward: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure the staircase, and hand you a written quote that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
