Stairlift Service Across Kent County

Kent County, MI

From the 1930s–1950s bungalows and cottages of Clyde Park — where the conversation is almost always about steep basement stairs, narrow treads, and the washer-dryer access problem that no one planned for seventy years ago — to the 1950s–1960s ranches and split-levels of Oriole Park with their midcentury floor plans and driveways that slope to a below-grade garage, our team has mapped every neighborhood in Wyoming. We know which Kelloggsville Cape Cods have the second-floor bedroom behind the kitchen door with a staircase barely 30 inches wide, which Urbandale split-levels need a curved rail for the 90-degree landing, and which South Grandville duplexes have identical stair runs on both floors.

1955 Oriole Park ranch — slim-profile rail on the original hardwood entry stairs

Oriole Park, MI Installed March 2026

A 1955 ranch in Oriole Park with an original hardwood staircase — dark oak treads, simple square balusters, the kind of clean midcentury carpentry that west Michigan builders got right the first time. Mrs. Vandenberg had been gripping the railing with both hands for the past year after a balance issue that her neurologist couldn’t quite pin down. We bolted the rail into the oak treads without touching the balusters, matched the beige seat to the warm wood tones, and parked the chair at the bottom landing where it folds flat against the wall. Her bridge group came over the following Thursday and the lift sat there for two hours before anyone asked about it.

1962 Urbandale split-level — curved rail through the 90° landing to the bedrooms

Urbandale, MI Installed February 2026

A 1962 split-level in Urbandale with seven steps from the entry to the living area, a 90-degree landing, then eight more steps to the bedrooms. Mr. Kowalski retired from the furniture factory on 36th Street in 1998 and has lived here since 1975. His knees gave out after decades of warehouse work and the stairs had become a twice-daily ordeal. We laser-scanned the full run on the first visit, fabricated a single curved rail that carries him from the entry to the upper hallway without stopping, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the top so he steps off onto carpet instead of balancing on the top tread.

1948 Clyde Park bungalow — compact rail on a steep basement stair beside the hutch

Clyde Park, MI Installed January 2026

A 1948 bungalow in Clyde Park with the steepest basement stairs we measured all year — 47-degree pitch, 28-inch width, original fir treads worn smooth from seven decades of foot traffic. The washer and dryer sit at the bottom and Mrs. Garza had been hauling laundry up those stairs three times a week at age 76. We mounted the rail flush to the wall side so the stair stays fully walkable, used a compact seat that folds against the rail, and ran the install while her daughter translated the operating instructions into Spanish at the kitchen table. Mrs. Garza rode it to the basement and back before we packed our tools.

Kelloggsville Cape Cod — weather-sealed outdoor entry lift on the stone front steps

Kelloggsville, MI Installed November 2025

A Cape Cod in Kelloggsville with five stone front steps that had become the most treacherous part of Mr. Patterson’s day — especially between November and March when lake-effect ice coats everything west of US-131. He’s a Korean War-era veteran and the VA HISA grant covered the full cost after we prefilled the paperwork through the Wyoming VA Clinic. The outdoor rail is sealed against moisture, rated to sub-zero temperatures, and has run through an entire Michigan winter without a single service call. The stone treads are original and untouched.

South Grandville duplex — carpeted stairs, bilingual walkthrough, three-hour install

South Grandville, MI Installed October 2025

An upper-unit duplex in South Grandville with 13 carpeted steps from the shared entry to Mrs. Morales’s second-floor apartment. She fell on the stairs last autumn and spent two weeks on her daughter’s couch downstairs because she refused to climb them again. Luis conducted the entire assessment in Spanish, walked her through every button and safety interlock twice, and installed the rail in a single morning. The carpet shows no damage, the stair stays fully walkable for the downstairs tenants, and Mrs. Morales rode upstairs that afternoon and closed her own bedroom door for the first time in a month.

Platform Lift

Byron Center Park — indoor wheelchair platform lift for a full-time chair user

Byron Center Park, MI Installed September 2025

A bi-level home in Byron Center Park with eight steps from the attached garage to the kitchen. Mr. Hendricks uses a power wheelchair full-time and two contractors had quoted a ramp addition at $25,000. We installed an inclined platform lift with a flat black platform, yellow safety edges, and automatic safety gates at both landings. The MI Choice Waiver through the Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan covered the full cost. Mr. Hendricks rolls onto the platform, presses one button, and he’s in the kitchen — no transfers, no lifting, no ramp construction.

Common Questions

Everything Wyoming Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Wyoming, Michigan right now?

Straight rails in the typical Wyoming home — the Oriole Park ranches, the Clyde Park bungalows, the Kelloggsville Cape Cods — run $2,700 to $5,100 installed. Curved rails, which you’ll need for 1950s–1960s split-levels with a mid-landing turn and some of the Cape Cod attic-stair layouts, run $8,800 to $14,500 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised entries and Michigan-weather front steps run $4,000 to $7,200. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Wyoming than in Grand Rapids or Kentwood?

Equipment prices are the same across our west Michigan coverage — we don’t inflate quotes based on your zip code. What can vary slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: a 1940s Clyde Park bungalow with a basement stair so steep it barely meets code, a Cape Cod with a second-floor stair under 30 inches wide, or the sealed motor housing and humidity-rated lubricant we spec as standard on every Kent County install. Those are baseline specs, not upcharges. We tell you the line items upfront on the written quote.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. Every Wyoming assessment can be conducted in Spanish at your request — Luis is bilingual and has worked dozens of consultations along Division Avenue, 28th Street, and throughout the South Grandville and Clyde Park neighborhoods where about a quarter of the population is Hispanic. Every printed quote, consent form, and operating manual is also available in Spanish. Zero surcharge.

Any hidden fees for duplex or rental property installs?

Our quote covers the full install regardless of whether you own or rent. For renters, the federal Fair Housing Act and Michigan’s Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act require landlords to permit reasonable disability modifications — we prepare the accommodation packet with a medical-necessity letter template if your landlord needs documentation. No additional charge for duplexes, triplexes, or multi-unit properties.

A word from Luis

Most Wyoming families call me after a quiet conversation — a parent who stopped going downstairs to do laundry three months ago in a Clyde Park bungalow, a fall on the basement steps that nobody mentions until I ask, a daughter in Grandville worried about her father alone in the Oriole Park ranch he’s owned since 1962.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
