1992 Wedgewood two-story — slim-profile rail on the original builder-grade oak treads

Wedgewood, MN Installed March 2026

A 1992 two-story in the Wedgewood development with the standard 14-step oak-tread run that Minnesota Mutual platted into every floor plan of that era. Mrs. Lindgren had her right knee replaced at Woodwinds in January and her surgeon told her no stairs for six weeks — but the only bathroom with a walk-in shower was upstairs. We measured on a Wednesday, installed on Friday, and she rode it home from discharge the following Monday. The rail sits flush against the wall, the seat folds flat, and Mr. Lindgren walks past it on the oak treads every morning without adjusting his stride.

Colby Lake split-level — curved rail around a 90° landing turn

Colby Lake, MN Installed February 2026

A 1986 split-level off Woodlane Drive with the classic layout — six steps up from the front entry to the main level, a 90° landing, then twelve more steps to the upper bedrooms. A straight rail was impossible. We laser-scanned the staircase on the first visit, fabricated a curved rail that carries Mr. Erickson from the foyer to the upstairs hallway in a single continuous ride, and added a swivel-exit seat at the top so he steps off onto the carpet instead of the top tread. Thirty-eight years of foundation settling had shifted the treads about a quarter inch — we shimmed the rail brackets to compensate, and the ride is perfectly level.

Century Avenue villa — compact straight rail beside a wooden sideboard on stone-tile treads

Century Avenue corridor, MN Installed January 2026

A 55+ villa near Century Avenue with stone-tile treads on a compact interior staircase flanked by a wooden sideboard and a potted peace lily at the bottom landing. The home has that traditional Minnesota cottage warmth — furniture tucked into every corner, family photos lining the stair wall. The brown-upholstered seat matches the earthy tone of the stone treads. We bolted the straight rail into the tile treads using masonry anchors, kept the seat profile slim enough that Mrs. Olson can still reach her sideboard without moving it, and completed the install in a single morning. She told us the compact space was why a previous company had said it couldn't be done.

Bailey Road split-level — outdoor entry lift on stone-paved steps with cream seat

Bailey Road area, MN Installed November 2025

A 1984 split-level along Bailey Road where the front entry has five concrete steps from the driveway to the front door — not enough to justify a ramp, too many for Mr. Sorensen after his second hip replacement. The steps face north, which means ice from November through March, and the concrete had developed hairline cracks after forty Minnesota winters. We mounted a weather-sealed outdoor rail to the steps, installed a cream-colored UV-resistant seat with a snap-on cover, and spec'd the cold-pack battery rated to -30°F. Mr. Sorensen used it through the entire 2025-26 winter without a single ice-related worry. His daughter shovels the driveway; the lift handles the rest.

Copper Hills two-story — carpeted stairs, standard-width, under three hours

Copper Hills, MN Installed October 2025

A 2004 two-story east of Radio Drive with the wide, carpeted stairs that came standard in that era of Woodbury construction — 14 steps, 40-inch width, plush beige carpet. Mrs. Nguyen's mother had moved in after a stroke and needed a way to reach the guest bedroom on the second floor without her daughter carrying her. We bolted the rail through the carpet into the tread lumber, matched the brown seat upholstery to the carpet tone so the chair almost disappears when parked at the landing, and had the whole install finished before lunch. Fastest Woodbury job of the quarter.

Platform Lift

Eagle Valley split-entry — indoor inclined wheelchair platform lift

Eagle Valley, MN Installed September 2025

A 2006 split-entry home in Eagle Valley where Mr. Hoffman, a full-time wheelchair user after a spinal cord injury, needed access from the garage-level entry to the main living floor — seven steps with a short landing. A seated stairlift was not an option because he cannot transfer from his wheelchair. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat anti-slip platform, yellow high-visibility safety edges, and a white safety rail that locks during the ride. The platform carries Mr. Hoffman and his power chair from the lower entry to the kitchen level in about 40 seconds. His VA HISA grant covered the full cost — we prefilled VA Form 10-0103 and coordinated with the Minneapolis VA.

Common Questions

Everything Woodbury Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Woodbury right now?

Straight rails in the typical Woodbury home — the Wedgewood two-stories, the Colby Lake split-levels, the Evergreen raised ranches — run $2,800 to $5,200 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for 1980s quad-levels and split-levels with a mid-landing turn along Bailey Road and the western neighborhoods, run $9,000 to $14,500 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised front entries and three-season porch access run $4,000 to $7,200 with the cold-pack battery standard. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices higher in Woodbury than the rest of the east metro?

Equipment prices are the same across our Minnesota coverage — we don't mark up quotes for Woodbury or Stillwater addresses. What can vary slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: a 1980s quad-level with two separate turns, a three-season porch entry that needs cold-weather sealing, or a home where the builder used a non-standard tread depth that requires shimmed brackets. We tell you the line items upfront. No surprise add-ons.

What if I only need the lift for recovery — say, six to eight weeks after knee surgery?

We hear this constantly from Woodbury homeowners coming out of Woodwinds or Regions with a hip or knee replacement. We offer short-term rental programs for straight-rail installs — the lift goes in, you use it through your recovery, and we remove it when your PT clears you for stairs. You pay a fraction of the purchase price, and the removal fills the pilot holes in the tread so your stairs look untouched. Ask during the free assessment and we'll quote both options side by side.

Any hidden fees for 55+ community or HOA installs?

Our quote includes the HOA paperwork we handle for you. We've worked with the 55+ villa associations along Century Avenue, the townhome boards in Wedgewood and Bailey's Arbor, and several Copper Hills and Stonemill Farms HOAs — the reasonable-accommodation letters are already templated. Minnesota Common Interest Ownership Act and the federal Fair Housing Act require accommodation for disabled residents. If a board requires its own engineer's letter, we tell you before we start — not after.

A word from Luis

Most Woodbury families call me after something quiet happens — a parent gripping the railing harder each morning in a Wedgewood split-level, a knee replacement at Woodwinds that means six weeks of no stairs, a grown daughter in Chicago calling because Mom mentioned she’s been sleeping in the recliner since October instead of walking up to the bedroom in their Colby Lake two-story.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
