Stairlift Service Across Lake County

Lake County, IL

Vernon Hills' subdivisions each shape the install differently. Deerpath and Stone Fence Farms are 1970s–'80s colonials on standard 36-inch oak staircases — straight rails fit cleanly. Gregg's Landing, with Augusta Green and Riviera Estates inside it, has 1990s–2000s customs where wider treads and an occasional 90° upper-landing turn call for a curved rail. Hawthorn Club (late-'80s) often has ceramic tile treads that need careful pilot drilling. Centennial Crossing homes leave room for heavy-duty seats. New Century Town and Grosse Pointe Village townhomes frequently need outdoor porch lifts and association sign-off, which we handle. We cover all of Lake County.

New Century Town, IL Installed October 2025

The Millers' New Century Town townhome has a front porch entry — four stone-paved treads. Luis installed the cream outdoor unit with stainless-steel brackets and IP55 weather-sealing. It came through a full Illinois winter of snow, sleet, and freeze-thaw running like new. Mr. Miller, a Navy veteran, used the HISA grant to cover most of the cost.

The brown seat at the bottom landing folds up to leave the entry completely clear. Mrs. Harrison, 68, climbed the stairs the same afternoon.

Common Questions

Everything Vernon Hills Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding, no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

How much does a stairlift cost in Vernon Hills?

Straight stairlifts start at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts — which need custom rail fabrication — start at $9,000. Outdoor units for porch entries begin at $4,000, and heavy-duty units rated to 600 lb start at $5,050. These are turnkey prices covering the assessment, rail, installation, and a warranty. Financing is available from $79/month with no prepayment penalty. No hidden fees.

Are there any Vernon Hills-specific fees or permits I should know about?

Vernon Hills doesn't require a permit for stairlift installation in single-family homes. Condos and townhomes — common in New Century Town and Grosse Pointe Village — may need association approval under Illinois Condominium Property Act §18.4(q), which mandates reasonable accommodation for accessibility modifications. We assist with that paperwork so the association can't stall the request.

What affects the cost of a curved stairlift in Vernon Hills homes?

The number of turns. Most Vernon Hills curved jobs have a single 90° bend at the upper landing, typical in Gregg's Landing customs. Each additional turn increases rail fabrication cost. A one-hour laser measurement gives you exact pricing before you commit to anything — no estimates that drift upward later.

Does insurance cover stairlift costs in Vernon Hills?

Medicare does not cover stairlifts. The Illinois Persons Who Are Elderly Waiver can cover home modifications including stairlifts for seniors who would otherwise need nursing-home care. The VA HISA grant covers up to $6,800 for service-connected veterans. Some private long-term-care policies cover home modifications — check your policy for 'home modification' or 'durable medical equipment' language.

A word from Luis

Vernon Hills started as 125 houses in 1958 and grew into 40-plus subdivisions, so the stairs run the full range. Deerpath and Stone Fence Farms are 1970s and '80s colonials — standard 36-inch oak staircases, mostly straight rails. Hawthorn Club and Centennial Crossing came a little later. And Gregg's Landing, with Augusta Green and Riviera Estates inside it, has the 1990s and 2000s customs where you start seeing curved staircases with a 90° turn at the upper landing.

The tricky part here is condo and townhome approvals — New Century Town and Grosse Pointe Village especially. I handle the Condominium Property Act §18.4(q) paperwork so the association can't stall you on a reasonable accommodation. The rail bolts to the tread, never the wall, so removal is clean.

Battery backup is standard on every install. Lake County loses power in winter, and your parent still needs to get upstairs. I show up, measure, and give you a real number that day.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Vernon Hills started as 125 houses in 1958 and grew to more than 40 subdivisions. The stairs run the gamut — oak treads from the '70s, tile from the '80s, custom curves from the 2000s, stone porch entries on townhomes built around the centennial. A stairlift fits all of them.

Luis comes to your home — Deerpath to Gregg's Landing to New Century Town — measures your stairs, and gives you a real number that day. The rail bolts to the tread, the install takes an afternoon, and the battery backup handles whatever Lake County winter brings. Call (800) 965-0350 for a free in-home assessment.
