Straight Stairlift

The right spec for Valdosta's colonials, Remerton bungalows, and Moody-area subdivision homes.

Straight rails are the most common install we do in Lowndes County — post-1970s colonials on Gornto Road and Lake Park Road, older two-story homes near North Patterson Street, and the subdivisions surrounding Moody AFB. The rail bolts to your stair treads, the seat and footrest fold flat, and the heat-rated battery keeps you moving through Valdosta's summer outages. Most installs wrap in under four hours.

Starting at $2,750 installed

What's Included

  • Battery backup for power outages
  • Swivel seat with safety lock
  • Two wireless remote controls

Stairlift Service Across Lowndes County

Lowndes County, GA

Valdosta’s residential geography fans out from the downtown core in a mix of eras and housing types. The North Patterson Street corridor holds the oldest stock — 1930s through 1960s wood-frame homes with steep, narrow staircases. The West Gordon Street neighborhoods are similar vintage with more brick ranch and two-story construction. Moving east, Gornto Road and Lake Park Road include post-1970s subdivisions with standard two-story colonial floor plans — the most common straight-rail installs in Lowndes County. Remerton has a concentrated cluster of bungalows we serve regularly. The Moody AFB-adjacent subdivisions along Inner Perimeter Road are where much of our veteran-funded work originates. Nearby Bemiss, Hahira, and Dasher fall within our standard service radius — no extra travel charge.

Moody AFB-area colonial — VA HISA-funded straight rail, installed before PCS orders arrived

Inner Perimeter Road, GA Installed March 2026

A 2001 colonial near Inner Perimeter Road, home to a retired Moody airman with a service-connected knee injury. The VA HISA grant covered most of the cost — we prefilled Form 10-0103, the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin issued the prescription, and authorization came back in six weeks. The 14-step straight run to the master bedroom was textbook geometry. We installed on a Thursday morning. Mr. Reyes was upstairs that evening for the first time in four months without holding both walls.

North Patterson Street — 1952 two-story, original hardwood treads preserved

North Patterson Street, GA Installed February 2026

A 1952 wood-frame two-story on North Patterson Street with original hardwood treads, a narrow stairwell, and a banister that the family refused to alter. Mrs. Whitmore's daughter had driven from Tallahassee to manage the assessment. We brought the slim-profile rail, bolted into the tread substructure without touching the banister, and matched the bracket profile to the original wood as closely as possible. The staircase still looks like it did in 1952. Mrs. Whitmore rides it to her bedroom every night and has not once mentioned the stairs to her family since.

Gornto Road colonial — curved rail past a 90° upper-landing turn

Gornto Road, GA Installed January 2026

A 1988 colonial on Gornto Road with 15 carpeted treads and a 90° turn at the upper landing where the stairs meet the second-floor hallway. Mr. Thomas had been using the downstairs study as a bedroom since his knee replacement in October. Two local estimates came back saying the turn was too tight without removing a section of the original banister. We laser-scanned the geometry, fabricated a curved rail that threads the turn without touching the banister, and installed a swivel-exit seat so Mr. Thomas steps off onto the hallway carpet at the top. He was back in the master bedroom the week of install.

Remerton bungalow — compact straight rail on steep original treads

Remerton, GA Installed December 2025

A 1940s bungalow in Remerton with steep, compact stairs — only 10 steps, but a rise angle steeper than modern code allows, and treads narrow enough that the rail selection mattered. Ms. Jenkins, 79, had started sleeping in the downstairs den after a close call on the top step. The Georgia EDWP Medicaid waiver covered the installation cost; we prepared the modification justification packet and her DCH Care Coordinator filed it within the week. Once the waiver was approved, Ms. Jenkins paid nothing out of pocket. She was back in her bedroom upstairs by Christmas.

West Gordon Street — outdoor front-entry lift, humidity-sealed for Valdosta's climate

West Gordon Street, GA Installed November 2025

A 1960s brick ranch on West Gordon Street with a raised front entry — eight brick steps from the driveway to the door, fully exposed on a south-facing lot. Mr. Simmons uses a walker after a series of strokes and the entry stairs had isolated him inside the house. The outdoor rail is UV-coated and humidity-sealed for Valdosta's summer climate, the motor carries an IP55 rating, and the battery is heat-rated for sustained temperatures that regularly reach 95°F on south-facing South Georgia entries. The desiccant pouch in the rail cavity gets replaced at every 12-month service call. No service calls in the first year.

Lake Park Road subdivision — carpeted straight rail with swivel-exit seat

Lake Park Road, GA Installed October 2025

A 1995 two-story on Lake Park Road with 13 carpeted treads and a tight landing at the top. Mrs. Flowers's specific concern was stepping off at the upper landing — she'd been gripping the banister so hard she had bruising on her palm. We installed the swivel-exit seat, which rotates 90° at the top landing so she steps onto the hallway carpet facing the hallway, not the top stair edge. Her son in Hahira called on a Thursday, we measured Friday, and the lift was running Monday morning. The one design detail that addressed the exact fear she had.

Common Questions

Everything Valdosta Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Valdosta right now?

Straight rails for the typical Valdosta home — the post-1970s colonials on Gornto Road, the older two-story homes near North Patterson Street, and the Remerton bungalows — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, needed when your staircase has a landing turn, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is custom-fabricated to your geometry. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes the rail, seat, installation, battery backup, and first service visit. No Valdosta surcharge, no South Georgia distance fee.

What financing options are available for Valdosta homeowners?

Three lending partners offer 0% APR for qualified buyers and fixed-rate plans from $79/month. Application is a soft credit pull — no impact to your score — takes about 4 minutes, and approval is usually instant. Many Valdosta families stack financing with a partial VA HISA grant or the IRS medical deduction to bring the monthly figure down further. We walk you through the math on paper during the free assessment.

Is a refurbished stairlift a good option in South Georgia?

For straight staircases, a certified refurbished unit can save 30-40% — we carry factory-reconditioned straight rails with new upholstery, new batteries (heat-rated for South Georgia temperatures), and a 2-year warranty. We do not sell refurbished units with original batteries because factory lithium cells fail within two South Georgia summers in the heat that accumulates near staircases adjacent to attics. For curved rails, refurbished almost never works because the rail is custom-built. Ask during your assessment which option fits your staircase.

Are there any hidden fees for older homes near downtown Valdosta?

No. Our quote covers everything: rail, seat, installation labor, battery backup, and first service visit. The only thing that affects price is staircase geometry — straight vs. curved, indoor vs. outdoor. If an older Valdosta home has an unusually narrow stairwell that requires a non-standard bracket, we tell you the line item before we start. No surprise charges after the fact.

A word from Luis

Valdosta runs on Moody Air Force Base. A significant share of the calls I take here come from active-duty families, veterans with service-connected injuries, and retired airmen who settled in Lowndes County after their last assignment. VA HISA is the first conversation I have almost every time, and I know the Moody VA benefit pipeline well enough to tell you what the timeline looks like before we discuss equipment.

Free in-home assessment, written price, 30-day hold. South Georgia's humidity is harder on stairlift hardware than most people realize — I spec components for the climate down here, not the Northeast. If you're on Georgia Medicaid or the EDWP waiver, I'll walk you through the paperwork before we do anything else.
