The standard for Endwell ranches, West Corners Capes, and Endicott Junction two-stories.

More than 70% of the stairlifts we install across Union and Broome County are straight rails. Most Endwell ranch and West Corners Cape installs wrap in under four hours. We're credentialed with NY Medicaid NHTD and all major MLTC plans.

Stairlift Service Across Broome County

Broome County, NY

From the postwar ranches of Endwell — where finished basements and original hardwood treads define nearly every install — to the Cape Cods of West Corners with their characteristic upper-landing turns that require a curved rail, to the IBM-era two-stories of Endicott Junction with their six-step concrete front stoops, our team has measured staircases across every Union neighborhood. We know which Grippen bungalows have the 27-inch stairwells where the compact-profile rail is the only answer, which Union Center colonials have the top-tread drop that makes a swivel-exit seat non-negotiable, and which East Maine split-levels have the open-riser layout where the finish matters as much as the function. We also staff dedicated coverage for Endwell, Endicott, Johnson City, and Vestal so you never wait on a specialist driving in from outside Broome County.

Straight

Endwell ranch — straight rail on original hardwood treads

Endwell, NY Installed March 2026

A 1958 Endwell ranch with a finished basement — twelve hardwood stairs between the main floor and the workshop, laundry, and guest bedroom below. Mrs. Kowalczyk has severe rheumatoid arthritis and the stairs had stopped being viable long before she called us. Her son found our number through the Broome County Office for Aging. We measured on a Wednesday, returned Thursday morning with the rail, and had her riding by noon. The slim-profile track bolts into the hardwood treads only — the original painted railing and drywall walls are completely untouched. The cold-weather battery backup is rated to -20 degrees for the Binghamton winters that regularly drop that far before February ends.

West Corners Cape Cod — curved rail past a 90° upper-landing turn

West Corners, NY Installed February 2026

A 1950 Cape Cod in West Corners with the upper-landing turn that appears in nearly every postwar Broome County Cape — a 90-degree change of direction at the top of the stairs before the bedroom hallway begins. Mr. Petroski is a retired IBMer with Parkinson’s, and his neurologist at UHS Wilson Medical Center recommended the stairlift in writing. We laser-scanned the staircase on the first visit, fabricated a single continuous curved rail that navigates the upper turn without requiring a transfer, and added a powered swivel-exit seat so Mr. Petroski steps off onto the hallway floor instead of the top tread. The doctor’s letter also qualified the full installation as an IRS medical deduction.

Union Center colonial — straight rail on carpeted stairs with swivel-exit seat

Union Center, NY Installed January 2026

A 1970s colonial in Union Center with fourteen carpeted stairs and a top landing that offers almost no clearance before the bedroom door opens. The Marcellus family’s mother had slipped twice at the top tread — not on the way up, but stepping off. We installed a straight rail with a powered swivel-exit seat that rotates 90 degrees at the top landing so she stands on the hallway floor before she stands up. The rail mounts right through the carpet into the treads beneath — no carpet removal, no visible fasteners, no mess. The folding seat and footrest clear the stair entirely when not in use.

Outdoor

Endicott Junction raised entry — outdoor lift on a six-step concrete stoop

Endicott Junction, NY Installed October 2025

A 1940s two-story in Endicott Junction with a six-step concrete stoop between the driveway and the front door — the layout that repeats throughout the IBM-era housing stock in this part of Broome County. Mr. Ferrara has COPD and the outdoor stairs were leaving him winded before he reached the front door. The outdoor lift is IP55 weather-sealed, carries a cold-weather battery rated to -20 degrees, and uses a heated joystick enclosure for January mornings when Binghamton’s valley weather produces black ice on every surface. The rail carries marine-grade epoxy coating as standard. Mr. Ferrara rode it through the full 2025–2026 winter — including the January ice storm that closed Route 17 — without a single service call.

Grippen neighborhood cape — compact rail in a narrow postwar stairwell

Grippen, NY Installed November 2025

A 1952 Cape Cod in the Grippen neighborhood with a stairwell that another company had measured and declined — the opening was 27 inches between the wall and the open side, one inch below most standard rails. We brought the compact-profile rail, verified clearance on arrival, and installed without issue. Mr. Sobieski is a veteran and had applied for the VA HISA grant before calling us; we received the authorization from the Bath VA Medical Center and billed the VA directly for the covered amount. His out-of-pocket was $490 on a $3,200 install. The cold-weather battery handles the Binghamton winters and then some.

Platform Lift

East Maine split-level — inclined platform lift for a wheelchair user

East Maine, NY Installed December 2025

A 1985 split-level in East Maine with a half-flight between the front entry and the main living area. Mrs. Battaglia uses a power wheelchair full-time after a spinal cord injury and a seated stairlift was never going to work. We installed an inclined platform lift with a flat black platform and yellow safety edges — she rolls on at the bottom, presses the joystick, and rides to the upper level without ever leaving the chair. The platform folds flat against the wall when not in use, leaving the full stair width for other household members. The NY NHTD Medicaid waiver covered the full cost as an environmental modification through her Service Coordinator, and we billed the state directly.

Common Questions

Everything Union Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Union right now?

Straight rails in standard Union and Broome County homes — the Endwell ranches, the West Corners Cape Cods, and the IBM-era two-stories in Endicott Junction — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for staircases with an upper-landing turn, which is the dominant layout in postwar Cape Cods throughout the Binghamton metro, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models sealed for Binghamton winters run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, cold-weather battery backup, and the first service visit.

Does the cold-weather battery spec cost extra for Union homes?

No. Every stairlift we install in Union and Broome County — indoor or outdoor — ships with the cold-weather battery rated to -20 degrees as a standard baseline spec. Binghamton valley winters regularly drop to -15 degrees and produce extended power outages. Off-the-shelf lithium batteries fail in unheated stairwells by the second season. We don't charge extra for equipment that's appropriate to the climate.

Are there any upstate surcharges or travel fees for Union?

No. We're based in the Binghamton metro area and Union is a home-territory install for us. No travel fees, no distance surcharges, no "upstate premium" pricing. Equipment costs are the same across all of New York. What can vary slightly is labor for unusual conditions — 27-inch stairwells requiring a compact-profile rail, or postwar concrete entry stoops requiring masonry anchor work. Every variable appears as a named line item on your written quote before you sign anything.

Is there a discount for veterans or senior residents?

We don't discount off a published list price — that model inflates the initial quote and then the "discount" brings it back to fair market. What we do is help qualifying veterans access the VA HISA grant (up to $6,800 for service-connected disabilities), help qualifying seniors navigate the NY NHTD Medicaid waiver (up to $15,000 for eligible participants), and offer 0% APR financing for qualified buyers through three lending partners. Many Union and Broome County families combine those sources to bring net out-of-pocket to near zero.

A word from Luis

Union is IBM country — and a lot of the calls I take are from retired IBM families who've lived in the same Endwell ranch or West Corners Cape Cod since 1965. The house is paid off, the kids are in other states, and the stairs are the one thing standing between them and the life they've built here. I hear that story every week.

What I can tell you is this: the stairs are a problem we can solve in about 24 hours from the time you call. A written quote, an install date, and a lift that will carry you through every Broome County winter the Susquehanna Valley can produce.
