Straight Stairlift

The workhorse of Thousand Oaks' 1970s-1980s two-stories and Newbury Park tract homes.

Over 70% of the stairlifts we install in the Conejo Valley are this model. A single straight run, the rail bolts to your stair treads (never into the wall), the seat and footrest fold up out of the way, and the battery backup keeps you moving — including during PSPS events. Most Thousand Oaks installs wrap in under four hours. Every unit ships with sealed motor housings for wildfire ash protection.

Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Ventura County

Ventura County, CA

From the 1960s single-story ranches of Conejo Village and older Newbury Park — where outdoor lifts for raised entries and garage transitions are the primary need — to the 1970s and 1980s two-story tract homes across central Thousand Oaks with standard carpeted straight runs, and the larger custom homes of North Ranch, Lang Ranch, and Dos Vientos with grand entries and curved staircases, our team has mapped every staircase pattern in the Conejo Valley. We know which Newbury Park floor plans have the L-shaped turn at the landing, which North Ranch custom homes have the sweeping curved entry that requires digital scanning, and which Dos Vientos hillside homes have the outdoor stairs that need fire-weather-rated hardware. We also serve Westlake Village, Oak Park, Moorpark, Casa Conejo, Lake Sherwood, and Santa Rosa Valley without travel fees.

1978 Newbury Park two-story — rail mounted on original oak treads

Newbury Park, CA Installed March 2026

A 1978 two-story in Newbury Park that Mrs. Jensen and her husband bought the year it was built. She's lived there for 48 years, raised three children, and intends to die there — her words. The stairs had become the obstacle. We color-matched the rail to the original oak treads, bolted in without touching the banister, and installed in a single morning. She rode upstairs, sat on her bed, and called her daughter to say 'I'm keeping the house.'

North Ranch custom home — curved rail through a sweeping entry staircase

North Ranch, CA Installed February 2026

A 1986 North Ranch custom home with a sweeping entry staircase — 16 marble treads, a gradual 90° curve, and a custom wrought-iron railing. Mrs. Goldstein had been using the guest bedroom downstairs since a hip replacement, and the entry staircase was the only route to the master suite. We laser-scanned the curve, fabricated a rail that follows the arc exactly, and installed without touching the ironwork. The chair parks in the alcove behind the entry column. Mrs. Goldstein rode upstairs and told her husband she was 'moving back home.'

1965 Conejo Village ranch — compact rail to converted upstairs bedroom

Conejo Village, CA Installed January 2026

A 1965 ranch in Conejo Village with an attic conversion that added a bedroom upstairs in the 1980s — narrow stairs, low ceiling at the top, and the only bathroom in the house. Mr. Matsuda is 81 and his arthritis made the steep stairs dangerous. We fitted the compact-profile rail with a folding footrest, positioned the top park point under the low header, and measured twice to clear the ceiling. He rides it four times a day to reach the bathroom and sleeps upstairs where it's quieter.

Dos Vientos hillside home — outdoor rail sealed against wildfire ash and heat

Dos Vientos, CA Installed December 2025

A 2001 hillside home in Dos Vientos with a raised entry and seven exterior steps. The home survived the 2018 Woolsey Fire, but the experience convinced Mrs. Hoffman that she needed reliable egress from every level — including power-independent operation during fire-weather power shutoffs. We installed an outdoor rail with UV-coated hardware, a sealed motor housing rated for ash and grit intrusion, and a battery backup that runs during PSPS (Public Safety Power Shutoff) events. She hasn't missed a single day outside since.

Lang Ranch two-story — swivel-exit on carpeted stairs

Lang Ranch, CA Installed November 2025

A 1988 Lang Ranch two-story with 14 carpeted treads and a tight newel post at the bottom. Mrs. Sullivan's husband had fallen at the top landing twice — both times while coming down. We installed the swivel-exit seat that rotates 90° at the upper landing so he steps off onto the hallway carpet instead of the top step. Coming down is now the easy part.

Platform Lift

Indoor wheelchair platform in a Newbury Park split-level

Newbury Park, CA Installed October 2025

The Nakamura family's father uses a power wheelchair after a car accident in 2022. Their Newbury Park split-level has five steps between the entry and the main living floor. We installed an inclined platform lift with yellow high-visibility safety edges, a fold-up deck when not in use, and a keyed call station at the entry. The Medi-Cal HCBA waiver covered the full cost through the Ventura County waiver agency. Mr. Nakamura reaches the kitchen, the living room, and the backyard deck independently.

Common Questions

Everything Thousand Oaks Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Ventura County right now?

Straight rails in standard Thousand Oaks two-stories — the 1970s and 1980s tract homes across Newbury Park, central corridors, and the older sections of Lang Ranch — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for L-shaped landings and custom entries in North Ranch and Dos Vientos run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact geometry. Outdoor models for raised entries and garage transitions run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Thousand Oaks than LA or Oxnard?

Equipment prices are the same across California. What varies is install complexity: a curved rail through a North Ranch custom entry is more labor-intensive than a straight bolt-on in a Newbury Park tract home. We detail every line item on the quote. No Conejo Valley premium, no surprise surcharges.

Does the Woolsey fire rebuild affect anything about the install?

If your home was rebuilt after Woolsey, the new framing and stair treads actually make installation easier — modern lumber and code-compliant construction accept anchors perfectly. If your home survived the fire, the existing stairs are exactly the same as any other 1970s-1980s Thousand Oaks home. We assess both types regularly.

Does the CSLB license really matter?

Yes — California law makes it a criminal offense to perform residential contracting over $500 without a CSLB license. The license requires a $25,000 surety bond, workers' comp insurance, and trade exams. Verify at cslb.ca.gov before signing. Our CSLB number is on every written quote.

A word from Luis

Most Thousand Oaks families call me because they're planning — they bought a two-story in Newbury Park or North Ranch in the 1970s or 1980s when the kids were young, the kids are gone, and the stairs are the one thing keeping them from staying in the house they've lived in for 40 years. Some call after the Woolsey fire, because rebuilding meant rethinking accessibility in a house they'd never thought about that way before.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.
