Stairlift Service Across Suffolk County

Suffolk County, NY

From the postwar colonials and Cape Cods of Nesconset, where oak-tread staircases and turned-spindle banisters have been refinished twice over fifty years, to the 1960s split-levels of Kings Park with their signature mid-landing 90-degree turns, our team has measured stairs in every corner of Smithtown. We know which St. James cottages have pre-war fieldstone walls that rule out wall-mount options, which Hauppauge raised ranches have carpeted stairs where brackets must compress through the pad, and which Head of the Harbor and Nissequogue waterfront homes need marine-grade coating and stainless fasteners because salt air off Long Island Sound corrodes standard steel in a single season.

1972 Nesconset colonial — straight rail on original oak treads

Nesconset, NY Installed March 2026

A four-bedroom colonial on a cul-de-sac in Nesconset with original red oak treads and a turned-spindle banister the family had refinished twice in fifty years. Mrs. Kowalski's orthopedic surgeon at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center cleared her for stair use only with a mechanical lift after a second knee replacement. We bolted the rail directly into the oak treads — never touched a spindle, never drilled into the wall, never scraped the finish on the newel post. The chair folds flat against the wall at the bottom landing. She tested it fourteen times the first afternoon.

Kings Park split-level — curved rail past the upper landing turn

Kings Park, NY Installed February 2026

A 1965 split-level in Kings Park — the single most common staircase layout in western Suffolk County. Seven steps from the foyer to the living level, a 90-degree landing turn, then six more steps to the bedrooms. Two other companies told the DeLucas they would need two separate straight rails and a transfer at the landing. We laser-scanned the staircase during the first visit, fabricated a single curved rail that carries Mr. DeLuca from the front door to the upper hallway in one uninterrupted ride, and added a swivel-exit seat at the top so he steps off onto the carpet instead of the top tread.

St. James stone cottage — rail mounted on fieldstone-flanked interior stair

St. James, NY Installed January 2026

A 1938 stone cottage in St. James with an interior staircase flanked by exposed fieldstone on one side and a plaster wall on the other. The treads were original tongue-and-groove hardwood with decades of wax buildup. Standard mounting brackets would not sit flush on the uneven tread surfaces, so we shimmed each bracket to compensate for the wax crown and the slight settlement in the 86-year-old subfloor. The stone wall ruled out any wall-mount option entirely. The finished rail runs dead straight from the foyer to the second-floor hallway.

Head of the Harbor raised entry — outdoor lift on bluestone paving

Head of the Harbor, NY Installed December 2025

A waterfront colonial in Head of the Harbor with a raised front entry, six bluestone steps, and salt air rolling in off Long Island Sound less than a quarter mile away. Mr. Fitzgerald is a Korean War-era veteran who processed his HISA grant through the Northport VA Medical Center — we prefilled VA Form 10-0103, the prescription came back in four weeks, and installation was authorized two weeks after that. Every fastener is 316-stainless, the rail has marine-grade epoxy coating standard for any Suffolk County install within five miles of saltwater, and the motor housing carries an IP55 weather seal.

Hauppauge raised ranch — straight rail over wall-to-wall carpet

Hauppauge, NY Installed November 2025

A 1978 raised ranch in Hauppauge with wall-to-wall carpet on the stairs. Mrs. Patel had been sleeping on the living room couch for three months after a hip fracture because her bedroom and only full bathroom were upstairs. Her daughter found us through the Suffolk County Office for the Aging referral list. We measured on Wednesday morning, installed Friday afternoon, and Mrs. Patel slept in her own bed that night. The carpet was not cut, not pulled, not damaged — the brackets compress through the pad and the holes are invisible if the lift is ever removed.

Platform Lift

Smithtown center hall colonial — indoor wheelchair platform lift with safety edges

Smithtown, NY Installed October 2025

A center-hall colonial in Smithtown proper where Mr. Morales uses a power wheelchair full-time after a spinal cord injury. A seated stairlift would have required a second wheelchair upstairs and two daily transfers — his occupational therapist at Stony Brook University Hospital said that was not safe without a caregiver present. We installed an indoor vertical platform lift with high-visibility yellow safety edges along the platform perimeter and automatic safety gates at both levels. Mr. Morales rolls on at the bottom, presses one button, and rolls off at the top without ever leaving his chair.

Common Questions

Everything Smithtown Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Smithtown and western Suffolk County right now?

Straight rails in standard Suffolk County homes — the colonials in Nesconset, Cape Cods in Kings Park, raised ranches in Hauppauge — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for the split-level landing turns common in 1960s Kings Park and Commack homes run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor units with marine-grade coating for North Shore waterfront properties run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Does proximity to Long Island Sound affect the price?

No. Every Suffolk County install within five miles of saltwater — Head of the Harbor, Nissequogue, Fort Salonga, the Kings Park waterfront — gets marine-grade epoxy rail coating and 316-stainless fasteners at zero upcharge. We don't add a waterfront premium. The coating and fasteners are standard because we know what salt air does to unprotected steel on the North Shore after one winter.

Are Smithtown prices higher than other Long Island towns?

Equipment prices are identical across Nassau and Suffolk counties. What can vary slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: shimming brackets on settled 1930s cottage treads in St. James, compensating for uneven wax buildup on pre-war hardwood, or coordinating HOA paperwork in gated communities. We itemize everything on the quote. No surprise line items after the handshake.

Will you damage my original hardwood stairs?

No. The rail bolts into the stair treads only — never into your wall, your banister, your spindles, or your newel post. We've installed on original oak treads in 1950s Nesconset colonials, wax-finished hardwood in 1930s St. James cottages, and carpet-over-plywood in 1970s Hauppauge raised ranches. If the lift is ever removed, you're left with a handful of small pilot holes in the tread surface — nothing else is touched.

A word from Luis

Smithtown families call after a fall on the stairs — or after the third time a daughter drives from Commack to help her father get to the bedroom. The parents aren't leaving the colonial they've owned since Nixon. The stairs changed. The hips changed. The house didn't.

My promise: on-site within 24 hours anywhere from Nesconset to Head of the Harbor, a written quote honored for 30 days, marine-grade coating standard on every North Shore install within five miles of saltwater, and the NHTD or MLTC paperwork started before I leave your kitchen table. The Northport VA on Middleville Road is 15 minutes away — I know their HISA coordinator by name.
