Stairlift Service Across Plymouth County

Plymouth County, MA

Scituate's neighborhoods run from Minot—the 'Irish Riviera' with its rocky shoreline and older Capes—south through Sand Hills and Egypt to Humarock, a seaside village cut off from the mainland by the 1898 Portland Gale. North Scituate holds the town's oldest homes, many with steep, narrow staircases dating to the 1700s. Greenbush clusters near the MBTA commuter rail terminus. Second Cliff and Third Cliff face the harbor with water-view colonials. Shore Acres and Peggotty Beach are tightly settled waterfront enclaves. Every neighborhood has its own stair geometry — a 1750 Cape staircase is nothing like a 1980s split-level — and we've installed lifts in all of them.

Straight

Straight Rail on Original Oak Treads in Greenbush Colonial

Greenbush, MA Installed March 2026

The Collins family's 1920s Colonial in Greenbush had original oak treads — beautiful but steep and slick after a century of wear. We installed a straight rail in just under 3 hours, bolting directly into the oak. The beige seat tucks against the newel post at the bottom landing. Mrs. Collins had been sleeping in the dining room for six months before the lift went in. She's back upstairs now.

Curved Rail Around Switchback at Upper Landing in Minot

Minot, MA Installed June 2026

The O'Briens' waterfront home in Minot has a switchback staircase with a 90-degree turn at the upper landing beneath a brass chandelier. The curved rail was laser-measured on site, custom-fabricated, and installed in about 5 hours. The brown upholstery matches the hardwood balusters. The seat parks neatly at the top floor outside the master bedroom. No wall anchors — the rail follows the treads through the turn.

Compact Straight Lift on Stone Tile Stairs in Humarock Cottage

Humarock, MA Installed April 2026

This Humarock beach cottage has stone tile treads on a compact staircase — tight quarters, low ceiling at the landing. The straight rail fit with inches to spare. We bolted through the tile into the sub-treads using longer anchors. The brown seat sits beside a wooden sideboard at the base. The homeowner, a retired teacher, uses the lift year-round and had us add the marine-grade coating even though it's an indoor install — the salt spray finds its way in.

Outdoor Lift on Stone-Paved Porch in Sand Hills

Sand Hills, MA Installed May 2026

An outdoor install on a stone-paved porch entry in Sand Hills, facing the Atlantic about 200 yards from the tideline. The cream-colored seat is IP55-rated with marine-grade seals on every joint. We anchored the rail into the granite porch pavers. The homeowner uses it to get from the driveway up to the front door — about eight feet of rise. After two nor'easter seasons, the lift shows no corrosion. The battery backup got her through a three-day outage last winter.

Straight Lift on Carpeted Stairs in North Scituate Split-Level

North Scituate, MA Installed February 2026

A classic North Scituate split-level with carpeted stairs and a ceramic-tile floor at the base. The brown upholstery blends with the beige carpet — you barely notice the rail from the living room. Straight install, three hours, five bolts into the treads. The homeowner is a retired firefighter with knee trouble. His wife told us she'd been helping him up the stairs every night for two years. Now he runs the lift himself, and she sleeps through the night.

Platform Lift

Wheelchair Platform Lift on Straight Staircase in Egypt

Egypt, MA Installed July 2026

The Murphys' Egypt neighborhood home needed a wheelchair platform lift, not a seat lift — Mr. Murphy uses a power chair and cannot transfer. We installed an inclined platform lift on their straight staircase: flat black deck with yellow safety edges, white handrail, 600-pound weight capacity. The platform folds up against the wall when not in use, leaving about 18 inches of stair width for foot traffic. Indoor only, battery-backed. Twenty-foot rail, installed in about 5 hours.

Common Questions

Everything Scituate Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a straight stairlift cost in Scituate?

A straight stairlift in Scituate starts at $2,800 installed. That covers a standard straight staircase up to about 14 feet, with battery backup included. The final price depends on rail length and any optional upgrades like a powered swivel seat. Most straight installs in Scituate homes — especially in the Capes and Colonials around North Scituate and Greenbush — fall between $2,800 and $3,500.

How much is a curved stairlift in Scituate?

Curved stairlifts in Scituate start at $9,000. These are custom-built to your exact staircase geometry after a laser measurement. Scituate has many homes with switchback staircases, especially in Minot and the Cliff neighborhoods, where a curved rail is the only workable option. The price includes the measurement visit, custom fabrication, installation, and the same battery backup and warranty as our straight lifts.

Are there financing options for a stairlift in Scituate?

Yes. We offer financing starting at $79/month. There's no prepayment penalty and no early-payoff fee. We also walk families through the MassHealth Frail Elder Waiver, the Massachusetts Home Modification Loan Program (HMLP), and the VA HISA grant — all of which can cover part or all of a stairlift installation.

Is an outdoor stairlift more expensive in Scituate because of the coastal weather?

Outdoor stairlifts start at $4,000. The unit itself costs more than a straight indoor lift because of the marine-grade coating and weather-sealed components. In Scituate, where salt spray and nor'easters are facts of life, we strongly recommend the outdoor-rated model for any exterior install — a standard indoor lift left on a porch in Minot or Sand Hills will corrode within two winters.

A word from Luis

I've been installing stairlifts in Scituate since before the Greenbush commuter line reopened. The thing about Scituate homes is the variety — you'll get a 1750 Cape in North Scituate with stairs so steep and narrow a standard straight rail barely fits, and two miles away in Minot, a 1990s colonial with a wide switchback staircase that needs a custom-curved rail. Coastal air is the other factor. I spec the outdoor lift's marine-grade coating on every indoor install within a half-mile of the water. Salt spray gets into everything — hinges, motors, rail joints. A standard indoor lift on a Humarock or Sand Hills porch will show rust inside of eighteen months. The marine-grade units hold up. That's not an upsell — that's me not wanting to get a call in two winters about a seized motor.

— Luis Ramírez, Scituate
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Scituate is a town shaped by the sea — the harbor, the lighthouse on Cedar Point, and the nor'easters that reshape the coast every few winters. For families here, aging in place means dealing with staircases that were built when the town was young. Whether your home is a 1750s Cape off Country Way or a beach cottage on Peggotty Beach, a stairlift keeps you moving between floors without having to gut the stairwell or move inland to a single-level condo.

When you're ready, Luis can come out, measure your stairs, and walk you through what fits — straight rail, curved rail, outdoor lift for the porch, or a platform lift for a wheelchair. Most installs take a morning. The rail bolts to the treads, the drywall stays intact, and the battery backup runs the lift through a nor'easter outage. Call or fill out the form — we'll set up an assessment at your convenience.
