Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Hays County

Hays County, TX

Our San Marcos coverage spans the full range of housing stock in the city. The Belvin Street Historic District and surrounding blocks hold Victorian-era homes where original woodwork preservation drives every install decision. The Dunbar neighborhood, settled in the 1880s, presents stone foundations and mixed-material construction requiring masonry-specific hardware. Heritage and the La Cima master-planned community on the west side represent newer two-story construction with wide builder-grade staircases. Along the Blanco River corridor, flood-zone properties in Blanco River Estates ship with quick-release seat brackets as standard. We also serve the Downtown and Hopkins Street historic districts and the growing subdivisions along the I-35 corridor south toward Kyle.

Heritage ranch home — original hardwood treads preserved

Heritage, TX Installed March 2026

A Heritage ranch home with 13 original hardwood treads leading from the main level to the upstairs bedrooms. Mrs. Treviño’s mother had her hip replaced at Ascension Seton Hays in Kyle and needed the lift before discharge. We matched the rail hardware to the warm hardwood tone, bolted exclusively into the treads without touching the original oak banister on the opposite wall, and finished in three hours. The hardwood shows no damage — the mounting bolts sit flush in the tread surface, and the banister the family refinished in 2019 remains untouched.

90° upper-landing turn in a 1905 Heritage cottage

Heritage, TX Installed February 2026

A 1905 folk Victorian cottage with long-leaf pine treads, a hand-turned oak banister, and a 90-degree turn at the upper landing. Mrs. Callahan has lived in this house since 1974 and the banister is the reason she bought it. We laser-scanned the staircase, fabricated an 18-foot custom curved rail that threads past the original newel post without touching a single spindle, and bolted into the pine treads only. The powered swivel at the upper landing lets her step off onto the hallway floor. Her neighbor came for coffee and did not notice the lift until she pointed it out.

Compact Dunbar cottage — stone-tile treads beside a wooden bookcase

Dunbar, TX Installed January 2026

Mr. Washington’s Dunbar cottage dates to the early 1920s — a compact single-story-with-loft layout where four stone-tile treads lead from the main living area up to the loft bedroom. The narrow stairway sits next to a wooden bookcase he built by hand forty years ago. We specified the slim-profile model, bolted the rail into the stone tiles with masonry anchors rated for the substrate, and positioned the seat so it parks flush without blocking the bookcase or the light switch on the adjacent wall. The cozy, traditional space did not change at all. He walks to the Calaboose Museum on Saturdays and rides to bed every evening.

Raised porch entry in Blanco River Estates — limestone steps with flood bracket

Blanco River Estates, TX Installed December 2025

A 1990s ranch in Blanco River Estates with a raised front entry and six exterior limestone steps up to the covered porch. The lot sits inside the FEMA 500-year floodplain. Mr. Garza is a retired Army staff sergeant who processed his HISA grant through the Central Texas VA Health Care System in Temple. We anchored a weather-sealed outdoor rail into the limestone treads with stainless masonry bolts, fitted the cream-colored IP54-sealed seat, and installed the quick-release flood bracket as standard for any Blanco River address. Natural daylight floods the covered porch entry. The lift has been through two Texas summers on a south-facing exposure without a single repair.

14 carpeted treads in a La Cima two-story

La Cima, TX Installed November 2025

A wide, builder-grade staircase in a La Cima master-planned home with 14 fully carpeted treads. Mrs. Morales had double knee replacement surgery and her bedroom is upstairs. We bolted the rail through the carpet into the wooden subfloor beneath — no carpet removal, no tack strip disturbance. The brown upholstered seat blends with the warm carpet tones. Luis walked the family through the controls in Spanish, positioned the seat so it parks at the top without blocking the hallway, and finished in three hours flat. The carpet shows no creasing and the grandchildren still run up and down without obstruction.

Platform Lift

Indoor wheelchair platform lift on the I-35 corridor

I-35 Corridor, TX Installed October 2025

Mr. Peña uses a power wheelchair full-time after a construction-site spinal injury and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. His south San Marcos home has a five-step rise between the main living area and the upper hallway. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift against the stairway wall — a flat black anti-slip platform with high-visibility yellow safety edges on all sides, interlocked gates at top and bottom, and battery backup. He rolls onto the platform, presses one button, and rides to the upper level without leaving his chair. Luis explained the controls and maintenance in Spanish at the kitchen table. The lift has handled daily use since October without a service call.

Common Questions

Everything San Marcos Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in San Marcos right now?

Straight rails in standard San Marcos homes — the La Cima two-stories, the Heritage ranch homes, the newer subdivisions between here and Kyle — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you will need for the split-level homes on the west side and some of the Belvin Street Victorians with landing turns, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor lifts for raised front entries and porch steps run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, heat-rated battery backup, and the first service visit.

My Belvin Street home is on the National Register. Does that add to the cost?

No. Interior stairlift installs are outside the San Marcos Historic Preservation Commission’s jurisdiction, even in the Belvin Street and Downtown National Register districts. The rail bolts into the stair treads — never into the banister, the plaster, or the original millwork. The only time historic review applies is if you are adding an outdoor porch lift on a contributing structure’s public-facing side. When that is the case, we prepare the city application at no charge. Equipment prices do not change based on historic district status.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. Every Hays County assessment can be conducted in Spanish at your request — Luis is bilingual and has walked families in San Marcos, Kyle, and Martindale through every line of the paperwork in their preferred language. Printed quotes, consent forms, and operating manuals are available in Spanish. Zero surcharge, zero delay, same timeline as any English-language assessment.

Are prices higher here than in Austin or San Antonio?

Equipment prices are identical across Central Texas — we do not inflate quotes based on zip code, and we do not add mileage fees for Hays County addresses. What can vary slightly is labor when we run into unusual conditions: masonry-anchor installs in pre-1900 Dunbar and Belvin Street homes, or a quick-release flood bracket for addresses inside the Blanco River floodplain. Every line item goes on the written quote before you sign anything.

A word from Luis

San Marcos sits on the I-35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio, but the homes here are nothing like either city. You have National Register Victorians on Belvin Street with original 1890s millwork, the Dunbar neighborhood with stone-and-frame construction from the Reconstruction era, brand-new master-planned homes in La Cima, and Blanco River properties that flood. Every one of those requires a different install approach. I handle the VA paperwork for the Fort Cavazos veterans, the STAR+PLUS authorization for Medicaid-eligible families, and the historic district questions so you don’t have to.
