Oak Treads, 1908 Victorian in Old Town

Old Town, MO Installed June 2026

The Callahans live in a 1908 Victorian on Pine Street in Old Town. Dark oak treads, steep rise, narrow hallway at the bottom landing. The straight rail ran 13 feet and bolted directly into the hardwood treads. The beige seat tucks against the wall at the base when parked — still leaves 20 inches of walking clearance for the rest of the family.

90° Turn at Upper Landing in Clinton/Dean Ford

Clinton/Dean Ford, MO Installed April 2026

A 1968 two-story with a curved staircase wrapping around a half-wall at the upper landing. The bend is a tight 90 degrees — no standard rail could handle it. Laser measurement took 55 minutes. The brown seat parks at the top floor, right under the chandelier. The Morrisons chose the darker upholstery to match their walnut banister.

Stone Treads, Compact Home off Forum Drive

Forum Drive area, MO Installed March 2026

A 1978 cottage-style home with stone tile treads and tight clearance. The brown seat sits at the bottom near a wooden sideboard, blending into the traditional interior. Stone treads take a slightly different bracket — we use masonry anchors instead of wood screws. Total rail length was 11 feet, one of the shorter installs we do in Rolla.

Outdoor

Front Porch Entry, Stone Paving in Vida

Vida, MO Installed October 2025

The Kowalskis live out in Vida on a few acres. Their front porch has four rough stone steps with no railing — Mrs. Kowalski slipped there last winter. We installed the cream outdoor lift with the IP55-rated chassis and cold-weather battery pack. The rail anchors into the stone with epoxy-set bolts. Natural daylight exposure all day — the UV-treated seat cover hasn't faded.

Carpeted Stairs, Split-Level in Rolla Southeast

Rolla Southeast, MO Installed February 2026

A clean split-level from 1994 with beige wall-to-wall carpet on the stairs. The brown upholstered seat nearly disappears against the carpet tone. Tiled floor at the base landing — the rail bracket sits in the grout line so removal would leave almost no trace. Twelve-foot straight run, one of the most common configurations we see in Rolla Southeast.

Platform Lift

Wheelchair Platform in Northwye Split-Entry

Northwye, MO Installed January 2026

Mr. Reeves uses a wheelchair full-time. His Northwye home has a split entry — six stairs up from the front door to the main living level. We installed an inclined platform lift with the flat black deck and yellow safety edges along the right wall. Rated for 600 lb with the chair. White handrail runs parallel. Indoor use only — the platform folds up against the wall when not needed.

Common Questions

Everything Rolla Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Rolla, Missouri?

A straight stairlift in Rolla starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts, which are custom-built to your staircase, start at $9,000. Outdoor lifts for porch or deck stairs start at $4,000. Heavy-duty models rated for 600 lb start at $5,050. These prices include the assessment, the rail, the chair, labor, and cleanup. We give you a firm number at the assessment — no surprise fees after the fact.

Are there financing options for a stairlift in Rolla?

Yes. Financing starts at $79/month through our third-party partner. The application takes about five minutes at the assessment and you'll have an answer before Luis leaves your house. No prepayment penalty, and you can pay it off early with no extra charge.

Why is there such a price difference between straight and curved stairlifts?

A straight rail comes in standard lengths off the shelf. A curved rail is a one-off — we come to your Rolla home, spend about an hour taking laser measurements of every turn and rise, and send those specs to the factory. The rail is bent to match your stairs exactly. That custom fabrication is what drives the price from $2,800 for straight to $9,000 for curved.

Does insurance cover stairlift costs in Rolla?

Standard Medicare does not cover stairlifts. However, Missouri's MO HealthNet Aged and Disabled Waiver (ADW) can cover home modifications including stairlifts for qualifying residents age 63+. The VA HISA grant covers up to $6,800 for service-connected veterans. Some long-term-care policies reimburse stairlift costs — we can help you check your policy language at the assessment.

A word from Luis

"Rolla's housing stock tells you exactly what kind of stairlift you'll need. The Old Town neighborhood — those homes from the 1880s through 1940s — nearly always have narrow staircases with tight turns at the landing. We measure with a laser on site and the curved rail comes back bent to that exact geometry. Over in Clinton/Dean Ford, the split-levels from the 1960s and 70s are usually straight runs, 12 to 14 feet. I've done installs off Forum Drive where the stairs open right into the living room — those are quick, three-hour jobs."

"What catches people off guard is the freeze-thaw cycle here. Rolla gets 50 to 75 frost days a year. For outdoor lifts on porches in places like Rolla Southeast or out toward Vida, we spec the IP55 weather-sealed package with the cold-weather battery kit. The 24-volt DC motor doesn't slow down even when it's 10 degrees out. And we bolt the outdoor rail to concrete or stone — no deck-mount shortcuts that shift when the ground heaves."

"I also tell families about the VA situation here. The St. James VA Clinic at 207 Matlock Drive handles HISA grant paperwork — that's $6,800 toward a stairlift for service-connected veterans. And by summer 2027, the new 75,000-square-foot Rolla VA Clinic on Old Wire Road opens. That's going to make the whole process faster for Phelps County veterans."

— Luis Ramírez, Rolla
