Stairlift Service Across Jefferson County

Jefferson County, LA

River Ridge stretches between Harahan and Kenner along the east bank of the Mississippi, roughly 10 miles from downtown New Orleans. Little Farms is the historic core — named for the truck farms that predated suburban development — with 1950s ranch homes on generous lots and oak-tread staircases. Highland Acres, near the Kenner line off Jefferson Highway, holds split-levels from the early 1960s whose half-flight stairs often need a curved rail at the landing turn. The River Ridge Citrus pocket and the streets off Hickory and Dickory Avenue have compact floor plans with tile or stone tread surfaces. Along the Mississippi River levee, several homeowners have added outdoor stairlifts to manage the steep porch-to-driveway drop. Sauve Road threads through it all as the main north–south route.

Straight

Little Farms — straight rail on dark oak treads

Little Farms, LA Installed March 2026

Classic 1959 ranch on Little Farms Avenue with dark oak hardwood treads. The staircase runs 14 feet straight from the living room up to a hallway serving three bedrooms. The beige seat parks at the bottom landing, out of the traffic path to the kitchen. The Guidrys had the assessment on a Monday and the lift in by Thursday afternoon — no drywall work, the brackets bolted straight into the oak treads.

Curved

Highland Acres — curved rail at the upper landing

Highland Acres, LA Installed February 2026

1964 split-level near the Kenner line with a 90-degree turn at the upper landing where the stairs meet a half-wall. The curved rail was laser-measured on site and fabricated over six weeks. The brown seat parks at the top floor, invisible from the front entry, and a chandelier above the landing was cleared by about 18 inches.

Straight

Sauve Road — straight rail on stone-tile treads

Sauve Road, LA Installed January 2026

Compact 1962 home off Sauve Road with stone-faced tile treads and a narrow stairwell alongside a wooden sideboard. The staircase is 33 inches wide — tight but workable with the narrow rail. The brown seat parks at the bottom near the furniture without blocking the walkway to the den. The stone treads needed carbide bits and longer anchor bolts, adding about 20 minutes. Total install time: just over three hours.

Outdoor

Levee district — outdoor lift on a porch entry

Mississippi River Levee, LA Installed October 2025

Levee-side property with a nine-step outdoor staircase from the porch down to the driveway — exposed to full Louisiana sun and Gulf rain. The cream outdoor seat runs on an IP55-rated, corrosion-resistant rail with UV-stabilized upholstery, anchored into the concrete porch pad and the stone-paved landing below. Installed in October 2025, right before storm season — the Rousseaus report it ran through two named storms without a single fault.

Straight

Dickory Avenue — straight rail on carpeted stairs

Dickory Avenue, LA Installed April 2026

Standard 1961 ranch off Dickory Avenue with beige wall-to-wall carpet on 13 treads. The brown seat was chosen to blend with the carpet — from the living room, the lift nearly disappears against the stairs. The rail brackets punched through the carpet and pad into the wood sub-treads. A tiled base landing meant drilling the bottom bracket into grout, which added about 10 minutes but left no visible marks.

River Ridge Citrus — indoor wheelchair platform lift

River Ridge Citrus, LA Installed March 2026

Larger home in the River Ridge Citrus pocket with a wide interior staircase to the second-floor bedrooms. The flat black platform deck carries a wheelchair up to 600 lb, with yellow safety edges and a white handrail along the wall side. Indoor-rated unit, DC motor with battery backup. The Washingtons' son uses a power wheelchair — the platform is wide enough for its 26-inch wheelbase.

Common Questions

Everything River Ridge Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding, no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in River Ridge?

A straight stairlift in River Ridge starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts start at $9,000 — the price varies with the number of turns and rail length. Outdoor units for porch entries start at $4,000. These prices include the rail, seat, installation, and a five-year warranty on the motor plus lifetime coverage on the rail.

Are there hidden costs with a River Ridge stairlift install?

No. The quote from the in-home assessment is the price you pay. It covers the rail, carriage, seat, labor, and a demo of how to use it. Stone or tile treads — common in the River Ridge Citrus pocket — take carbide bits and slightly longer anchors, but that's part of the quoted job, not an add-on. If a tread needs reinforcement, we flag it at the assessment before any work begins.

Does insurance cover stairlift installation in Jefferson Parish?

Standard Medicare (Parts A and B) does not cover stairlifts — they're classified as home modifications, not durable medical equipment. Some Medicare Advantage plans in Louisiana offer a home-modification allowance. Louisiana's Community Choices Waiver (CCW), administered through the Office of Aging and Adult Services, covers Environmental Accessibility Adaptations — which include stairlifts — for Medicaid-eligible seniors who meet nursing-home level-of-care criteria.

How much is monthly financing for a River Ridge stairlift?

Financing starts at $79 per month through a third-party lender, with terms from 12 to 60 months at fixed rates. There's no prepayment penalty — if a VA HISA grant or CCW funding comes through later, you can pay the balance off early with no extra cost.

A word from Luis

River Ridge homes follow a pattern — mostly brick ranch and split-level houses from the late '50s and early '60s, with staircases tucked between the living room and the hallway to the bedrooms. The treads are usually oak, sometimes tile, and the runs are tight by modern standards. I've installed lifts on Sauve Road, in Little Farms, over in Highland Acres — same house type, same stair geometry, just different finishes.

Most jobs here take about three hours for a straight rail. Curved rails need a laser measurement first, then four to six weeks for fabrication — those bend around the knee wall at the top of the split-levels off Citrus and Dickory. One thing I tell every River Ridge family: if your house was built before 1970, check the stair width before you order. Some older ranch models have 32-inch staircases, which is fine — our narrowest rail fits 28 inches — but you want to know before install day. And the humidity here means the rail grease wants a refresh every 18 months, not every two years. Small thing, but it keeps the ride smooth through August.

Luis Ramírez, River Ridge
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

River Ridge is a compact suburb — about 2.8 square miles, home to roughly 13,000 people, nearly built out by 1965. That means the housing stock is consistent, and the stairlift installs here follow a rhythm. Straight lifts go into the ranch houses off Little Farms Avenue and Sauve Road. Curved lifts go into the split-levels in Highland Acres where the stairs turn at a half-wall landing. Outdoor units handle the porch-to-driveway runs on the levee-side properties.

After 15 years working these streets, Luis can usually tell what rail a house needs from the year it was built and the subdivision name. Call us for a free in-home assessment — most straight installs are done in a single morning.
