Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Albemarle County

Albemarle County, VA

Rivanna sits along the Route 250 corridor in eastern Albemarle County, just east of Shadwell — Thomas Jefferson's birthplace. The Glenmore gated community anchors the area with estate homes, wide oak staircases, and occasional curved flights. Rivanna Village is the newer mixed-use development off Route 250 with single-family homes and standard straight stair runs. Just west, Shadwell holds older cottages and farmhouses from the 1920s-1950s, where staircases tend to be narrower with original hardwood treads. Keswick spreads eastward with renovated farmhouses and luxury estates — many with landings and turns. Dunlora and Forest Lakes to the north feature 1990s-era colonials and split-levels with straight carpeted stairs and occasional walkout basements.

Straight

Oak Staircase, Glenmore Estate

Glenmore, VA Installed March 2026

The Harringtons' Glenmore home has a traditional oak staircase running from the foyer straight up to the bedroom level — 14 treads, no turns. Luis mounted the rail directly to the treads in about 3 hours. The cream-colored seat parks at the bottom landing, folding up when the family passes through the entryway.

90-Degree Turn, Keswick Farmhouse

Keswick, VA Installed February 2026

The Feldmans live in a renovated 1920s Keswick farmhouse where the staircase takes a tight 90-degree turn at the upper landing beneath a chandelier. Our laser survey captured the bend precisely. The curved rail follows the turn perfectly, and the brown leather seat parks at the top floor — no rail section intrudes into the hallway.

Stone Treads, Shadwell Cottage

Shadwell, VA Installed April 2026

In a compact Shadwell cottage built in the 1950s, the Mackenzies' stairs had original stone treads — narrow and worn smooth. Luis fitted a straight rail along the wall side, bolting through the stone. The seat parks beside a wooden sideboard at the base, and the whole install wrapped in under 4 hours.

Outdoor

Porch Entry, Dunlora Home

Dunlora, VA Installed January 2026

The Simpsons' Dunlora home sits on a sloping lot with four stone-paved steps up to the front porch. Luis installed the outdoor stairlift along the right edge of the steps — IP55-sealed rail, UV-stabilized seat cover, and corrosion-resistant fasteners that handle Albemarle County's freeze-thaw winters. Done by lunchtime.

Carpeted Stairs, Forest Lakes Colonial

Forest Lakes, VA Installed May 2026

In a 1990s Forest Lakes colonial, the Nguyens had wall-to-wall carpet running up a standard straight flight. Luis mounted the rail directly through the carpet into the treads — no damage to the carpet pile. The brown seat matched the oatmeal-toned Berber almost exactly. Three and a half hours, start to finish.

Platform Lift

Inclined Platform, Hollymead Split-Level

Hollymead, VA Installed February 2026

The Parkers' Hollymead split-level had a straight stair run from the garage entry to the main floor — fine for walking, but their son uses a wheelchair full-time. Luis installed an inclined platform lift — black flat deck, yellow safety edges, white side rails. The platform folds up against the wall when not in use, leaving the stairs clear for walking.

Common Questions

Everything Rivanna Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Rivanna?

Straight-rail installs in Rivanna start at $2,800. Curved rails — which we laser-measure on site — start at $9,000. Outdoor lifts begin at $4,000, and heavy-duty units rated for 600 lb start at $5,050. Every quote includes the in-home assessment, rail fabrication (curved), install labor, and a 5-year warranty. No travel fees to Rivanna or anywhere in Albemarle County.

Are there extra charges for homes on Rivanna's larger estate properties?

No. The price doesn't change based on your home's size or value — whether you're in a Glenmore estate or a Shadwell cottage. The only variable is the rail geometry. Straight rails are flat-rate; curved rails depend on the number of turns, and you'll know the exact figure after the 1-hour laser measurement.

How does Rivanna pricing compare to Charlottesville or Keswick?

Identical. We don't adjust pricing by ZIP code. A straight stairlift installed in Rivanna costs the same as one in Charlottesville or Crozet — $2,800 to start. Same parts, same labor, same warranty.

Is financing available for Rivanna residents?

Yes. Financing starts at $79/month. We also walk you through Virginia's CCC Plus Waiver (which covers environmental modifications for qualifying Medicaid recipients) and the Virginia Housing Accessibility Grant (up to $8,000 for home modifications). Both programs can substantially reduce or eliminate out-of-pocket cost.

A word from Luis

I've installed stairlifts from Shadwell's 1920s farmhouses to the new builds in Rivanna Village. The older homes along Route 250 tend to have narrower staircases — 30 to 34 inches across — and original hardwood treads that have been sanded smooth over 60 or 70 years. The Glenmore estates are the opposite: wide oak staircases, sometimes with a quarter-turn at the landing, high ceilings. Each house needs a different approach.

The one thing that's the same everywhere: people wait too long. They think a stairlift is giving up, when really it's the thing that keeps them in the home they love. I've seen it a hundred times. You call, I come measure, we install within the week, and suddenly the upstairs bedroom or the laundry in the basement isn't off-limits anymore. That's the whole job.

— Luis Ramírez, Rivanna
