Straight Stairlift

Most common · From $3,200

The workhorse of Provo's two-story homes and finished-basement ranches. Over 70% of the stairlifts we install across Provo and Utah County are this model. A single straight run, the rail bolts to your stair treads (never into the wall), the seat and footrest fold up out of the way, and the altitude-rated lithium battery backup keeps you moving through power interruptions. Most Edgemont, Oak Hills, and Sunset installs wrap in under four hours. Basement installs in the older Carterville and North Park ranches sometimes run an extra hour because of steeper tread angles.

Starting at $3,200 installed

What's Included

  • Battery backup for power outages
  • Swivel seat with safety lock
  • Two wireless remote controls
  • Soft start and soft stop motion
  • Fold-up seat, arms, and footrest

Stairlift Service Across Utah County

Utah County, UT

From Downtown Provo and Joaquin — where pre-war bungalows have narrow enclosed stairs and finished basements accessed through tight doorway turns — to the benchland neighborhoods of Edgemont, Oak Hills, and Rock Canyon, where 1970s two-story homes dominate, our team has measured stairs in every part of this city. We know which Carterville and North Park ranches have steep, narrow basement stairs that only work with a compact-profile rail, which Sunset subdivisions have wider post-2000 stairs that install in three hours flat, and which Rock Canyon homes face canyon wind exposure requiring sealed outdoor hardware. We also cover Orem, Springville, Vineyard, Lindon, and Pleasant Grove.

Edgemont two-story — straight rail on dark hardwood stairs before Mom moved in

Edgemont, UT Installed March 2026

A 1982 two-story in Edgemont where the Jensen's 79-year-old mother was moving in from Springville. The bedrooms were upstairs, the stairs are dark oak open-tread construction, and the family needed the lift ready before she arrived Saturday. We bolted a straight rail to the hardwood treads on the right side, seated the beige chair at the bottom landing, and the altitude-rated lithium battery handles Provo's elevation without issue. She moved in on schedule and the folding seat parks flat against the wall so the grandchildren run up and down around it.

Oak Hills split-level — curved rail bends around the upper landing

Oak Hills, UT Installed February 2026

A 1978 split-level in Oak Hills with the classic Provo benchland floor plan. The curved rail bends 90 degrees around the half-wall at the upper landing, carrying Mrs. Christensen from the entry to the upper hallway in a single continuous ride. The brown-upholstered seat parks at the top floor where she steps off directly onto the carpet. We laser-scanned the staircase geometry on the first visit and fabricated the curved rail over 11 days. The modern interior with its chandelier and framed artwork stayed untouched — the rail threads past the balustrade without contact.

Carterville ranch — compact rail in a cozy traditional home

Carterville, UT Installed January 2026

A 1957 ranch in Carterville with stone-look tile treads and a compact stairway next to a wooden sideboard. Mr. Sorensen's workshop is in the basement and he wasn't giving it up after knee surgery. We fitted a straight compact-profile rail with the brown-upholstered seat positioned at the bottom next to his hall furniture. The cozy cottage feel of the home stayed intact — the chair folds flat and tucks beside the sideboard and potted plant when not in use.

Rock Canyon benchland — outdoor rail on stone-paved porch entry

Rock Canyon, UT Installed December 2025

A benchland home near the mouth of Rock Canyon with an elevated porch and stone-paved entry steps. The cream-colored weather-resistant seat sits at the outdoor entry, anchored through the rough natural stone paving. Canyon wind drives fine grit into everything on this exposure, so we sealed the motor housing to IP55, added dust guards on the rail gearing, and applied cold-weather lubricant rated to -10°F. The carpeted outdoor tread at the bottom step gives solid footing when stepping on and off.

Sunset subdivision — carpeted stairs with seat that blends right in

Sunset, UT Installed November 2025

A 2012 home in the Sunset area with carpeted stairs and a landing midway. Mrs. Olsen wanted the stairlift to blend with her interior, so we specified the brown-upholstered seat that matches her carpet tones almost exactly. The rail bolts through the carpet into the treads below — invisible and removable. At the landing, the tiled floor gives a clean transition point. Wall-mounted light switches stayed accessible with the chair folded. Three neighbors have since asked for our number.

Platform Lift

North Park ranch — indoor wheelchair platform lift at the sunken den

North Park, UT Installed October 2025

A 1960s ranch in North Park with a sunken family room — three steps down from the kitchen and hallway. Mr. Kimball uses a powered wheelchair and those three steps cut the house in half. We installed an indoor inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat black anti-slip surface and yellow high-visibility safety edges around the perimeter. The white handrail runs along the indoor stairway wall, and the orange-toned walls of the den stay visible through the window as the platform glides down. Not a seated stairlift — a flat platform that carries the full wheelchair.

Common Questions

Everything Provo Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Provo right now?

Straight rails in standard Provo homes — the two-story builds in Edgemont and Oak Hills, the ranches with finished basements in Carterville and North Park, the newer Sunset subdivisions — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for homes with a landing turn or split-level entry run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for covered porches and elevated entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, altitude-rated battery, and the first service visit.

Does altitude affect the equipment or the price?

Altitude affects the equipment but not your price. At 4,550 feet, sealed lead-acid batteries lose roughly 20% capacity compared to sea level, so every Provo install ships with a lithium cell as our baseline spec. We also calibrate the motor controller for altitude-rated cooling and use a dry-air lubricant that doesn't stiffen below freezing. These aren't add-ons on our quotes — they are the Utah County default. A company quoting you with sea-level specs is quoting you equipment that will underperform within two winters.

Is there a surcharge for the benchland neighborhoods near Rock Canyon?

No. Edgemont, Oak Hills, Rock Canyon — same pricing as anywhere in Provo. What sometimes adds a small labor charge is working with the steep, narrow basement stairs in the 1950s Carterville and North Park ranches where the access is tight and the tread angles are non-standard. We tell you that line item upfront during the free assessment.

Do you work with multi-generational households where the parent just moved in?

This is our most common call in Provo. A parent moves in with an adult child, the bedrooms are upstairs, and the family needs a stairlift installed quickly — often before the parent arrives. We can measure and install a straight rail within a week of your first call. If the parent is already in the home and sleeping on the couch because they can't reach the upstairs bedroom, we prioritize same-week install.

A word from Luis

Most Provo families call me because an aging parent is living with adult children in a multi-generational household — the grandparents moved in after a fall, the bedrooms are upstairs, and nobody planned for stairs to become the barrier. I get that call from Edgemont and Oak Hills more than anywhere else on the Wasatch Front.

My job is simple: get to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.
