Stairlift Service Across Nassau County

Nassau County, NY

Plainview's housing is mostly mid-century (1950–1975): split-levels, center-hall colonials, and cape cods built for young families and now serving owners aging in place.

Birchwood and the College Section off Washington Avenue have 1960s colonials with straight 12–14-foot staircases over original oak treads, ideal for a direct straight-rail mount. Morton Village center-hall colonials turn 90° at a half-wall landing and need a custom curved rail. Manetto Hill and Locust Grove mix compact cape cods and ranches with narrower 32-inch stairs that take a slimline rail. Country Pointe Plainview, the gated 55-plus community off Old Country Road, has villa porch steps suited to weather-sealed outdoor lifts, and neighboring Old Bethpage shares the same post-war stock.

Common Questions

Everything Plainview Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Plainview, NY?

Straight lifts start at $2,800 installed; curved lifts from $9,000; outdoor straight from $4,000; heavy-duty from $5,050. Final price depends on rail length, the number of turns, and any add-ons. You get a firm written quote at the in-home assessment with no surprises later.

Why do curved stairlifts cost more than straight ones in Plainview?

Curved rails are custom-manufactured to your exact staircase. In a Morton Village center-hall colonial, the technician does a one-hour laser measurement on site, then the factory bends the rail to match each turn and landing. That custom fabrication is the cost difference from a straight rail.

Does insurance or Medicare cover a stairlift in Nassau County?

Most private health insurance and Medicare do not cover stairlifts, since they're classed as home modifications rather than durable medical equipment. New York's NHTD Medicaid Waiver and the NYS Access to Home program can help eligible Plainview residents — see the funding questions below.

What financing is available for Plainview homeowners?

Financing runs from $79/month with approved credit, with 12–60 month terms and no prepayment penalty. Many Plainview veterans pair the VA HISA grant (up to $6,800) with financing on the remainder.

A word from Luis

I've installed stairlifts in Plainview since 2010, and the houses here tell you what they need. Birchwood and the College Section are full of 1960s colonials with straight 13-step runs over original oak treads, so those are three-hour jobs. Morton Village center-halls turn 90 degrees at the landing, and those take a custom-bent curved rail.

A lot of Plainview veterans don't know the VA HISA grant can cover up to $6,800 until I bring it up at the assessment. The nearest VA hospital is Northport, just up the parkway. Old Bethpage and Manetto Hill have plenty of narrow 32-inch cape-cod stairwells, and every lift I put in runs on battery backup so it still works when a nor'easter knocks the power out.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Plainview's post-war homes — the split-levels and colonials built in the 1950s and '60s — now house owners who want to stay put rather than relocate. A stairlift removes the one barrier the stairs put between them and their own bedroom, with no remodeling.

Luis and his team have installed on every Plainview staircase type, from Birchwood oak treads to Manetto Hill cape-cod runs. Every job includes laser measurement, a firm written quote, and single-day installation for most straight rails. Call (800) 965-0350 for a free in-home assessment.
