Straight Stairlift

Bestseller

The workhorse of Parma's Cape Cods, brick ranches, and basement staircases. Over 75% of the stairlifts we install in Parma are straight rails — because most of the city's 1950s and 1960s housing stock has standard straight-run staircases from the first floor to the basement or from the entry to the second floor. The rail bolts into your stair treads (never into the wall), the seat and footrest fold up out of the way, and the battery backup keeps you moving through the next winter power outage. Most Parma basement installs wrap in under three hours.

Starting at $2,800 installed

What's Included

  • Battery backup for power outages
  • Swivel seat with safety lock
  • Two wireless remote controls
  • Soft start and soft stop motion
  • Fold-up seat, arms, and footrest
  • 10-year motor & gearbox warranty

Compared to Alternatives

vs Curved: 3x less expensive and installed in one visit. vs Home elevator: 10-15x less cost and no construction. vs Moving bedroom downstairs: Keeps your home exactly as it is.

Stairlift Service Across Cuyahoga County

Cuyahoga County, OH

From the Cape Cods and brick ranches along Chevrolet Blvd and Snow Road — the bread-and-butter postwar housing that makes up over half our Parma installs — to the split-level raised ranches in Ridgewood where the entry landing forces a choice between going up or going down, our team has mapped every staircase pattern in this city. We know which State Road corridor homes near Ukrainian Village have narrow basement stairs with low overhead clearance, which Polish Village bungalows along Ridge Road have original hardwood treads, and which West Ridgewood colonials need a curved rail for their L-shaped staircases. We cover the entire southwest Cuyahoga corridor — Parma Heights, Seven Hills, Brooklyn, Middleburg Heights — from a single base. No travel fees, no surcharges.

1953 Snow Road Cape Cod — straight rail on original hardwood treads to the basement

Snow Road, OH Installed March 2026

A 1953 Cape Cod off Snow Road with a straight basement staircase and original hardwood treads the homeowner had maintained for 70 years. Mrs. Kowalski had one condition: the treads stay exactly as they are. We pilot-drilled the tread nosings with the smallest bit that achieves a secure mount, bolted the rail brackets into the dark oak treads, and left the hardwood unmarked outside the bolt footprint. The seat sits at the bottom of the open-tread staircase in a warm residential setting, ready to ride.

1966 Ridgewood raised ranch — curved rail through a 90° entry landing

Ridgewood, OH Installed February 2026

A 1966 raised ranch in Ridgewood with the classic Parma split-level layout. Mr. Novak had been sleeping in the recliner downstairs since Thanksgiving because the landing turn was too painful after hip replacement surgery. We laser-scanned the full staircase, fabricated a curved rail that bends around the half-wall at the upper landing, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the top so he steps off onto the hallway floor. The rail curves smoothly through the 90-degree turn beneath the chandelier, and he slept in his own bed the night of the install.

Polish Village bungalow — straight rail in a compact stairwell with stone treads

Polish Village, OH Installed January 2026

A 1948 bungalow along Ridge Road in Polish Village with stone-topped treads and a compact stairwell — a wooden sideboard with potted plants sits right at the base of the stairs, so the seat had to park flush without blocking the hallway. We mounted the straight rail tight to the wall side, and the chair folds flat against the rail at the bottom landing next to the cabinet. The traditional cottage feel of the home stayed completely intact.

Ukrainian Village bungalow — outdoor lift on a raised stone-paved front stoop

Ukrainian Village, OH Installed December 2025

A 1949 bungalow on State Road near Ukrainian Village with a raised front stoop — six exterior steps over rough natural stone paving, a northeast exposure that collects lake-effect snow from November through March. Mrs. Kravchenko had fallen on the steps twice. We installed a weather-sealed outdoor rail with a cream-colored seat rated for Northeast Ohio winters, anchored into the stone-paved entry with galvanized hardware. The cold-weather battery runs to minus 10 degrees and the snow-cover hood keeps the rail clear between storms.

Chevrolet Blvd ranch — straight rail on carpeted basement stairs

Chevrolet Blvd, OH Installed November 2025

A 1960 ranch off Chevrolet Blvd with wall-to-wall carpeted stairs running from the main floor down to a finished basement with tile flooring at the landing. The brown upholstery on the seat blends right into the carpet tones — Mr. Dudek said it looked like part of the house by the time we were done. The rail runs straight along the carpeted treads with the seat parked at the landing, and the fold-flat design keeps the stairway clear for the rest of the family.

Platform Lift

West Ridgewood colonial — indoor wheelchair platform lift for a veteran

West Ridgewood, OH Installed October 2025

A 1962 colonial in West Ridgewood where Mr. Stanko, a veteran, uses a wheelchair full-time and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat black anti-slip deck and yellow high-visibility safety edges along the indoor stairway. The white handrail keeps the chair secure during the ride, and the platform folds flat against the wall when not in use. The orange-toned walls and natural light from the window make the space feel open despite the equipment.

Common Questions

Everything Parma Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Parma right now?

Straight rails in standard Parma homes — the Cape Cods along Snow Road, the brick ranches off Chevrolet Blvd, the Ridgewood colonials — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you will need for most split-level raised ranches with a mid-landing turn and any L-shaped staircase in the older colonials, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry after a laser scan. Outdoor models for raised front stoops — the raised concrete entries common across Parma that collect lake-effect snow and ice from November through March — run $4,000 to $7,500 with the cold-weather battery as standard. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes rail, seat, battery backup, and first service visit.

Are prices different in Parma than in Cleveland or Akron?

Equipment prices are the same across Ohio — we do not inflate quotes by zip code or suburb. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual site conditions: compensating rail mounts for foundation-settled treads in pre-1950 homes, running a dedicated 20-amp circuit in a house with original 100-amp service, or adding a compact-seat model in a basement stairway where the ceiling height drops below 6 feet 8 inches. Every one of those line items appears on the written quote before you sign. No surprise fees after the fact.

My adult child lives out of state and wants to be part of the decision. Can they join remotely?

Yes, and this is one of the most common requests we handle in Parma. A significant share of stairlift decisions here start with a call from a son or daughter in Columbus, Charlotte, or Phoenix who is worried about a parent who mentioned the stairs. We conduct the home assessment over FaceTime or video call so the remote family member can see every measurement, hear every number, and ask questions in real time. When the family approves, we handle installation, walkthrough, and follow-up locally — and call the out-of-town contact when it is done.

Do you charge extra for basement staircase installs in Parma?

No surcharge. Basement staircases are the single most common install we do in Parma — the 1950s Cape Cods and ranches almost all have a finished lower level with a straight 12 to 14-step run. The only thing that occasionally adds cost is low overhead clearance: if the ceiling at the bottom of the stairs is below 6 feet 8 inches, we specify a compact-seat model that folds tighter. We measure that on the first visit and include it in the written quote before anything is signed.

A word from Luis

Parma is the city where I grew up measuring stairs before I knew I was doing it. Every house on the block was a Cape Cod or a raised ranch with a basement staircase my grandmother refused to go down alone after she turned 75. That was 1998. Now it's the same conversation in every one of those homes — except the homeowners are the people I went to school with, and they're calling about their own parents.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.

— Luis Ramírez, Parma

Your free home assessment takes 45 minutes. Luis drives to your house, measures with a laser, and leaves you with a written quote honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. Call today or fill out the form above.
