Stairlift Service Across Westchester County

Westchester County, NY

The Town of North Castle spans three distinct hamlets — Armonk, North White Plains, and Banksville — each with its own housing stock. In Armonk, lake communities like Windmill Farms and Wampus Lake Estates feature sprawling colonials and mid-century homes with wide central staircases. Whippoorwill Ridge, built around 1995–2000, has townhouses with two-story layouts common to that era. North White Plains, the oldest section, has older colonials and split-levels with the tighter stair treads of pre-1970 construction. Banksville, bordering backcountry Greenwich, has rural properties and estate homes where long straight staircases or multi-landing runs are the norm. Across all three hamlets, we see the same pattern: homeowners staying put and ordering lifts rather than downsizing.

Dark Oak Colonial in Windmill Farms

Windmill Farms, NY Installed March 2026

The Moretti family's 1960s colonial in Windmill Farms has the original dark oak staircase — tight-grained hardwood that still shows the saw marks. We mounted a straight rail on the treads in just over three hours, no wall drilling. The cream seat tucks against the bottom newel post, leaving the upstairs hallway fully open. Mrs. Moretti uses it twice a day to reach the second-floor laundry.

90-Degree Curve in Whippoorwill Ridge Townhouse

Whippoorwill Ridge, NY Installed February 2026

The Chens' townhouse in Whippoorwill Ridge has a 90-degree turn at the upper landing, where the stairs wrap around a half-wall beneath a chandelier. Luis did the laser measurement in under an hour, then the custom-curved rail shipped three weeks later. The brown seat parks neatly at the top floor, tight to the wall. Install took four hours — the rail hugs the turn exactly.

Stone-Tread Cape Cod in North White Plains

North White Plains, NY Installed January 2026

In a compact 1950s Cape Cod in North White Plains, the Nguyens had stone tile treads and a narrow stairwell. The straight rail bolted directly to the treads — no tile damage because we drill through the grout line and seal the anchor points. The brown seat sits beside a wooden sideboard at the base. Total install: three hours. Mrs. Nguyen, 78, now reaches her upstairs bath without her son walking beside her.

Stone Entry Lift in Wampus Lake Estates

Wampus Lake Estates, NY Installed November 2025

The Feldmans' lakefront home in Wampus Lake Estates needed an outdoor lift from the driveway up the stone-paved entry stairs — a 12-foot rise exposed to full Westchester weather. We installed the cream outdoor unit with marine-grade seals and an IP55-rated motor. The rail is bolted into the stone treads with stainless anchors. Two winters in, it runs through snow, ice, and February freeze-thaw cycles without a problem.

Carpeted Colonial in Banksville

Banksville, NY Installed April 2026

In a 1980s colonial on a wooded lot in Banksville, the Harrisons' carpeted staircase runs straight from the foyer to a second-floor hall. The brown seat blends into the beige carpet — we matched the upholstery to the existing tread color. Installation took three and a half hours, rail bolted through the carpet to the sub-treads below. The tiled foyer floor at the base gives a clean transition from the lift to the entryway.

Platform Lift

Indoor Wheelchair Platform in Whippoorwill Hills

Whippoorwill Hills, NY Installed March 2026

In a Whippoorwill Hills home, the Garcias needed a wheelchair platform for their son, who uses a power chair. The indoor inclined platform lift runs along a straight staircase — flat black aluminum deck, yellow safety edges, white side handrails. Capacity: 600 pounds. The platform folds up when not in use, keeping the stairway clear. Install took five and a half hours with reinforced anchor points every 16 inches on center.

Common Questions

Everything North Castle Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in North Castle?

Straight stairlifts start at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts, which require custom rail fabrication, start at $9,000. Outdoor lifts begin at $4,000 and include marine-grade weather sealing. Heavy-duty lifts for higher weight capacities start at $5,050. All prices include a no-charge in-home assessment in Armonk, North White Plains, or Banksville.

Are there lower-cost options for a straight staircase in Armonk or North White Plains?

Yes. The straight-rail models at $2,800 are the most affordable because the rail comes in standard lengths — no custom bending. If your staircase is a standard 12 to 16 feet without turns or landings, you're in the straight-lift price bracket. Financing starts at $79 per month with approved credit, and we walk you through the application at the assessment.

Does a curved stairlift cost more in an older North Castle colonial?

It can, but not because of the home's age. Curved lifts cost more because the rail is custom-bent to match your specific stair geometry — every turn, landing, and pitch change. In older colonials or split-levels, a curved rail might have two or three bends. The 1-hour laser measurement on site captures every angle. After that, the price is set — no surprises during install.

Is there sales tax on a stairlift in Westchester County?

Stairlifts are classified as durable medical equipment in New York State and are generally exempt from sales tax when prescribed by a physician. We provide the necessary documentation for the exemption. If you pay out of pocket, we make sure the paperwork is filed correctly.

A word from Luis

I've been installing stairlifts in North Castle for over 15 years, and I've worked in just about every type of home this town has — the lakefront properties in Windmill Farms, the older colonials in North White Plains, the townhouses in Whippoorwill Ridge, and the rural estates out in Banksville. What I see over and over is folks in their 70s and 80s who've lived here 30 or 40 years and don't want to leave. The house works. The stairs, at some point, stop working. That's where we come in.

North Castle has a particular mix of housing stock that keeps us busy. You have pre-war colonials with steep, narrow staircases in North White Plains. You have mid-century ranches and split-levels around Wampus Pond where the bedrooms are up a half-flight. You have newer construction in Whippoorwill Hills with those wide, curved staircases that look beautiful but are a nightmare if your knees are going. Every install is different because every house was built in a different era with different stair geometry.

The one thing that surprises families every time is how fast it goes. They've been worrying about this for months — will it fit, will it wreck the stairs, will it look like a hospital. Then we show up, bolt the rail to the treads, plug it in, and three hours later the mom who's been sleeping on the couch for six months is riding up to her own bedroom. That's the part I never get tired of.

— Luis Ramírez, North Castle
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

North Castle is a town where people stay. The colonial in North White Plains that someone bought in 1985, the Windmill Farms lake house that's been in the family since the 1960s, the Banksville property on two wooded acres — these aren't starter homes people flip after five years. They're where families put down roots. A stairlift keeps those roots intact. No downsizing, no single-floor scramble, no moving to a condo in White Plains just because the stairs got hard.

From the first phone call to the final install, the process takes about two to three weeks for a straight lift, three to five for a custom curved rail. The assessment is free, same-week, at your home in Armonk, North White Plains, or Banksville. Luis shows up with a laser measure and a notepad. You show him the staircase. That's it. After 15 years of doing this in northern Westchester, he's probably installed on a staircase just like yours.
