Stairlift Service Across Cleveland County

Cleveland County, OK

From the 1920s Craftsman bungalows of Old Silk Stocking — where the conversation is always about preserving original hardwood banisters and century-old millwork — to the Chautauqua and Miller Historic Districts, where Tudor Revival homes have the steep stairways and half-landings requiring careful rail routing, our team has measured every historic block in Norman. We know which Brookhaven homes have the wide modern stairs that install in three hours, which Southridge homes sit inside historic district boundaries, and which University-area cottages near Campus Corner have stairs too narrow for standard clearance. We also cover Moore, Noble, Goldsby, and Slaughterville with no mileage surcharge.

1922 Silk Stocking Craftsman — straight rail on original oak treads, seat at bottom landing

Old Silk Stocking, OK Installed March 2026

A 1922 Craftsman bungalow in the Silk Stocking District with original white oak treads and a warm indoor setting. Mrs. Callahan had been sleeping in the downstairs parlor since December after a fall on the top step. We bolted a straight rail directly into the dark oak treads on the right side, never touched the banister or the plaster crown molding, and color-matched the bracket covers to the existing stain. The beige seat sits unfolded at the bottom of the open-tread stairway when parked. She was back in her own bedroom that night.

1928 Chautauqua Tudor — curved rail bending around upper landing under the decorative arch

Chautauqua, OK Installed February 2026

A 1928 Tudor Revival in the Chautauqua Historic District with a staircase that turns 90 degrees at the upper landing under a decorative arch. Two companies told the Hendersons the arch would need trimming. We laser-scanned the full run, adjusted the seat folding geometry so the headrest clears the arch by two inches, and installed a single curved rail that bends around the half-wall balustrade to park the brown-upholstered seat at the upper floor hallway. Framed art on the wall and the chandelier above stayed untouched. Mr. Henderson — a retired Tinker AFB civil engineer — checked every bracket bolt with a torque wrench. Passed his inspection on the first try.

1935 Miller District cottage — straight rail on stone treads in a compact traditional interior

Miller Historic District, OK Installed January 2026

A 1935 stone cottage in the Miller Historic District with original Oklahoma limestone-tile treads and a compact stairway next to a wooden sideboard with a potted plant. Mrs. Whitfield had fallen twice in the last year. Her son drove up from Dallas and called us from the driveway. We mounted a straight rail on the stone treads using expansion anchors rated for the density, and the brown-upholstered seat complements the cozy traditional interior. The cottage feel — tight space, warm tones, furniture close to the stairs — stayed intact. The seat folds flat in the compact stairway, and Mrs. Whitfield uses it daily.

Outdoor

University-area bungalow — outdoor stairlift on stone-paved porch entry

University, OK Installed December 2025

A 1948 bungalow near Campus Corner with a raised front porch, six exterior steps on rough natural stone pavers, and no rear entry option. Mr. Begay is a Korean War-era veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the Norman VA Clinic on 24th Avenue NW. He had stopped leaving the house entirely. We installed a weather-sealed cream-colored outdoor seat on the stone-paved entry steps with IP55-rated motor housing and stainless mounting hardware. Natural daylight from above the covered porch illuminates the ride. Carpeted outdoor treads at the bottom provide traction. The HISA grant covered $6,800 and Mr. Begay went to his first in-person VA appointment in six months the week after install.

Brookhaven two-story — straight rail on carpeted stairs, seat matches carpet tones

Brookhaven, OK Installed November 2025

A 1998 two-story in Brookhaven with wide carpeted stairs and a landing area. Mr. Patterson's mother had moved in after a stroke and the upstairs guest suite was her only private room. We mounted the rail through the carpet into the subfloor, which holds brackets more securely than carpet alone. The brown-upholstered seat matches the carpet tones on the treads, and at the landing the tiled floor provides a stable step-off point. Wall-mounted light switches along the run stay accessible. The seat folds flush so others can pass without squeezing. She's used it every day since November without a service call.

Platform Lift

Southridge home — indoor wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Southridge, OK Installed October 2025

A 1942 Colonial Revival in the Southridge Historic District where the garage-to-house transition has four steps and a doorway too narrow for a wheelchair ramp. Mr. Dawson is a retired Fort Sill artillery officer who uses a power wheelchair after a service-connected spinal injury. We installed an indoor inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat black anti-slip platform, yellow high-visibility safety edges, and a white handrail along the indoor stairway. The orange-terracotta walls and nearby window provide warmth and light. The platform rises four steps in about 12 seconds, the upper gate opens automatically, and he rolls straight into the hallway. The HISA grant covered $6,800 of the cost. Mr. Dawson said the only thing he regrets is not doing it three years sooner.

Common Questions

Everything Norman Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Norman right now?

Straight rails in standard Norman homes — the Brookhaven two-stories, the university-area bungalows, the 1960s ranches east of 12th Avenue — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for most 1920s and 1930s homes in Chautauqua, Silk Stocking, and Miller with landing turns or decorative arches, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised front porches run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup (ice storm rated), and the first service visit.

Is Norman cheaper than Oklahoma City for stairlift installs?

Equipment prices are identical across Oklahoma — we don't charge differently by zip code. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: historic bungalow banister preservation in the Silk Stocking District, compensating for non-standard tread depths in pre-1940 Chautauqua homes, and the aluminum-finned heatsink we spec on every Oklahoma install (standard, not an add-on). We tell you the line items upfront.

Is financing available, and what does it cost per month?

Yes. We work with three lending partners offering 0% APR for qualified buyers and fixed-rate plans starting at $79/month. Application is a soft credit pull — no impact on your score — takes about 4 minutes, and approval is usually instant. Many Norman families combine financing with the ADvantage Waiver partial coverage or the IRS medical deduction to bring the monthly cost down further. We run through the math during your free assessment.

Is a stairlift cheaper than moving out of my Norman home?

In most cases, significantly cheaper. Moving from a Norman home involves realtor commission, closing costs, movers, and a new deposit that together typically run $12,000 to $22,000. A straight stairlift installs in under four hours for $2,800 to $5,500 and lets you stay in the home, neighborhood, and community you've been part of for decades — near your doctors at Norman Regional, your church, and your family.

A word from Luis

Most Norman families call me after a scare on the stairs in a 1920s Craftsman bungalow in the Silk Stocking District — a slip on the original hardwood treads, a retired OU professor who hasn't been upstairs in months after a knee replacement at Norman Regional, a daughter in Dallas worried about her father alone in a Chautauqua home he's lived in since 1978.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
