Expert Stairlift Installation in Newark, OH

Most of my Newark jobs come from the Owens Corning and Holophane side of town, families thirty-plus years in the same house. Their staircases often turn partway up like a lot of older Newark homes, so we build a curved rail instead of a straight one. Ask about PASSPORT and the VA programs before we quote you a price; plenty of families here qualify.

1908 Granville Road craftsman with a slim rail between original pine treads

Granville Road Corridor, OH Installed March 2026

A 1908 Newark craftsman on the Granville Road corridor with original pine treads the family had refinished three times over the years. The staircase was 29 inches wide, workable but tight. Luis brought the slim-profile rail spec, matched the bracket finish to the stained pine, and mounted the full run without touching a single riser or banister spindle. The parked chair sits flush against the wall at the bottom landing. Mrs. Hartwell called the next day to say she’d already ridden it a dozen times.

90° landing turn in a Downtown Newark Victorian two-story

Downtown Newark, OH Installed February 2026

A late-Victorian Downtown Newark home with a quarter-turn landing between the ground floor and upstairs bedrooms, the kind of staircase that stops most straight-rail contractors at the door. We laser-scanned the staircase geometry on the first visit, custom-fabricated a curved rail that threads past the original newel post without modification, and completed the install in a single afternoon. The seat swivels 90° at the upper landing so Mrs. Calloway steps onto hallway flooring, not the top tread edge.

Stone-tread straight rail in a compact Moundbuilders Park cottage

Moundbuilders Park Area, OH Installed January 2026

A 1940s cottage near Moundbuilders Park with original stone treads and a wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs the family refused to move. The staircase was compact, 30 inches wide with low ceilings, and the traditional interior had a cozy, settled feel the homeowners wanted to preserve. Luis anchored the rail into the stone treads with masonry bolts, positioned the seat so it parks next to the sideboard without blocking the hallway, and matched the bracket finish to the warm wood tones. The Brennan family said guests walk past it without noticing.

Raised porch entry on a Cherry Valley Road ranch: cold-weather outdoor spec

Cherry Valley Road, OH Installed December 2025

A 1960s Cherry Valley Road ranch with a raised front entry, six stone-paved steps from the driveway up to the covered porch and front door. Mr. Dickson, a retired Newark firefighter with a knee replacement, had been managing those steps one at a time through Ohio winters. The outdoor unit sits on the stone paving with a cream weather-sealed seat, hot-dip galvanized brackets rated for Licking County’s 60+ annual freeze-thaw cycles, and a sealed motor housing. Installed in December, it ran through the rest of the winter without a single service call.

West Main Street two-story with a swivel-exit seat on carpeted treads

West Main Street, OH Installed November 2025

A West Main Street two-story with 13 carpeted treads and a tight newel post at the bottom landing. The brown-upholstered seat blends with the neutral carpet tones running up the stairway. Mrs. Kowalski’s main concern was the exit at the top: her husband had caught his foot on the top tread stepping off his previous walker. We installed the swivel-exit seat, which rotates 90° at the upper landing so she steps directly onto the tiled hallway floor rather than the top step. One detail. One fall prevented.

Platform Lift

Hebron Road bungalow with an indoor wheelchair platform lift for a veteran in a power chair

Hebron Road, OH Installed October 2025

A 1940s Hebron Road bungalow where Mr. Yost, 82, uses a power wheelchair after a spinal cord injury and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. The internal stairway connecting the ground floor to the upstairs bedroom needed a flat platform, not a seat. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat anti-slip surface and yellow high-visibility safety edges along both sides. The white safety rail folds down when not in use so the stairway stays passable for Mrs. Yost. Orange-toned walls and a window beside the stairway frame the installation. Mr. Yost rolls onto the platform, presses the control, and rides to the upper level without leaving his chair.

Stairlift Service Across Licking County

Licking County, OH

We cover all of Newark and the surrounding Licking County communities. In the Granville Road corridor and older sections near Downtown Newark, banister-preservation calls are common, and we’ve threaded rails past original newel posts on turn-of-the-century craftsmans without touching the surrounding millwork. On West Main Street the mix of early-1900s two-stories and mid-century homes means we carry both slim-profile and standard rail specs to every assessment. Across the Cherry Valley Road and Hebron Road zones, straight-run installs are the typical call, scheduled and completed the same week. We also serve Heath, Granville, Granville South, and smaller Licking County communities with no travel surcharge.

Common Questions

Everything Newark Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding, no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What's a stairlift going to cost in Newark?

A straight-rail lift for one flight -- typical of the ranch and split-level homes built out toward Newark's newer subdivisions near the Holophane and Owens Corning side of town -- usually lands in the $2,500-$4,000 installed range. Curved rail costs more because it's custom-bent to the exact staircase, and you see more of that need in the older homes around the Hudson Avenue Historic District, where a lot of staircases turn once or twice before reaching the second floor.

Why is curved rail so much pricier than straight?

The rail has to be measured and fabricated to match your stairs exactly -- every turn, every landing -- rather than pulled off a standard shelf length. Newark's older housing stock, some of it dating to the same period as the 1909 Arcade downtown, tends to have those turns more often than the newer construction farther from the historic core, so it's worth getting an in-home measurement before assuming which type you need.

Does the price change based on where in Newark I live?

Not really -- the price follows the staircase, not the zip code. What does vary across the city is which staircase type you're dealing with: older sections near downtown tend toward the tighter, turned stairs that need curved rail, while the newer subdivisions built up as Newark's industrial employers grew tend to have straighter single-flight runs.

A word from Luis
The Home Savings Association Bank downtown was designed by Louis Sullivan, and I mention that to people sometimes because it tells you how old this part of Newark actually is -- the housing near it is old too, and old houses mean staircases nobody designed with a stairlift in mind. Most of my Newark jobs come from families near the Owens Corning and Holophane side of town, working households where someone's parents have been in the same house for thirty-plus years. With median household income here around $52,570, I always bring up PASSPORT and the VA programs before we get to the price, because a fair number of people in this county qualify for something.
