Stairlift Service Across Orleans County

Orleans County, LA

From the Garden District — one of the most intact collections of 1830s–1860s antebellum architecture in the US, where original cypress banisters and sweeping entries demand custom rails — to the Creole cottages and Spanish colonial townhouses of the French Quarter, from the shotgun-lined blocks of Uptown, Carrollton, and the Irish Channel to Tremé (the oldest African American neighborhood in the country), our team has mapped every staircase in Orleans Parish. We know which Bywater shotguns barely clear 26 inches, which Lakeview homes were raised post-Katrina with exterior stairs that didn’t exist before 2006, which Mid-City doubles need a curved rail at the half-landing, and which Lower 9th Ward rebuilds have front-entry stairs taller than anything in the original neighborhood. We cover Algiers Point across the river and the Magazine Street corridor doubles.

Garden District double — straight rail on original dark oak treads

Garden District, LA Installed March 2026

A Garden District double with dark oak open-tread stairs and a warm cypress-paneled hallway. Mrs. Thibodaux, 81, had been gripping the original banister with both hands on every trip since her knee replacement last fall. We bolted a straight rail to the right side of the oak treads, positioned the beige seat at the bottom landing where it folds flat against the wall, and ran the wiring along the tread edge so nothing touches the original millwork. She made three round trips on install day without holding the banister once.

Curved

Bywater Victorian — curved rail with 90° turn at the upper landing

Bywater, LA Installed February 2026

A Bywater Victorian with a staircase that bends around a half-wall at the upper landing — the kind of geometry that rules out every straight rail on the market. We laser-scanned the 90-degree curve on the first visit, fabricated a continuous curved rail over two weeks, and parked the brown-upholstered seat at the top floor so Mr. Broussard, 79, steps off directly onto the hallway. A chandelier hangs above the turn and framed art lines the stairwell wall — the rail clears both without contact.

French Quarter Creole cottage — compact straight rail on stone treads

French Quarter, LA Installed January 2026

An 1830s Creole cottage on a quiet French Quarter side street with stone-tiled treads and a wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs that Mrs. Nguyen has owned for decades. The compact space left no room for error — we specified the slimmest straight rail profile, bolted it to the stone treads with masonry anchors, and positioned the brown seat so it parks next to the sideboard without blocking the hallway. The cottage’s traditional character stayed intact; the potted plant on the cabinet never moved.

Lakeview raised home — outdoor lift on stone-paved front entry

Lakeview, LA Installed December 2025

A Lakeview home raised eight feet after Katrina, with a stone-paved front entry and raised porch steps that didn’t exist before 2006. Mrs. Landry, 76, had been entering through the garage to avoid the front stairs entirely. We installed a weather-resistant cream-colored outdoor stairlift on the stone entry, sealed every bracket and motor housing against hurricane-season rain, and anchored to the 130 mph wind-load spec. The 96-hour extended battery carried through two 2025 storm outages without a missed ride.

Uptown Victorian — straight rail on carpeted stairs at the landing

Uptown, LA Installed November 2025

A Magazine Street corridor Victorian double with carpeted stairs and a landing area between the first and second floors. Mrs. Fontenot wanted a lift that blended with the brown carpet tones, so we specified the brown-upholstered seat and mounted the rail along the wall side. The seat parks at the landing where the carpet meets the tiled floor below, and the folded footrest clears the light switches on the wall. She’s lived in that house since 1968 and still hosts her reading group in the front parlor — guests pass the folded chair without a second glance.

Platform Lift

Lower 9th Ward rebuild — indoor wheelchair platform lift

Lower 9th Ward, LA Installed October 2025

A Lower 9th Ward home rebuilt and raised after Katrina, where Mr. Williams uses a power wheelchair and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift on the indoor stairway — a flat black anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges, a white handrail, and a keyed call station at the lower landing. The orange-painted stairwell walls and natural window light made visibility easy. The 96-hour battery carried through two 2025 outages without a single missed ride.

Common Questions

Everything New Orleans Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in New Orleans right now?

Straight rails in standard New Orleans shotguns, doubles, and raised cottages run $2,900 to $5,600 installed. Curved rails — common in Garden District mansions, French Quarter spiral staircases, and any pre-war home with a landing turn — run $9,500 to $16,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Hurricane-rated outdoor models for post-Katrina raised entries in Lakeview, Gentilly, and the Lower 9th run $4,500 to $8,200. Every written quote is honored for 30 days and includes installation, rail, seat, 96-hour battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in the French Quarter or Garden District?

Equipment pricing is the same across Orleans Parish. What varies is install complexity: French Quarter spiral staircases often require tight-turn custom fabrication, Garden District curved entries need longer rails, and any exterior-visible install in an HDLC or VCC district adds 2 to 6 weeks for the Certificate of Appropriateness. We don’t charge for the historic commission application — that’s built into our process. Every line item is on the written quote before you sign.

Does the HDLC or Vieux Carré Commission review add cost?

We don’t charge for the HDLC or VCC application itself — we’ve templated the submissions for every major New Orleans historic district and we appear at the hearing if needed. What the review process adds is time: typically 2 to 6 weeks for exterior-visible work. Interior-only installs in historic districts don’t require commission review and proceed on normal schedule. We tell you on the first call whether your home triggers the review.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. Every New Orleans assessment can be conducted in Spanish at your request — our installer Luis is bilingual. The Spanish-speaking population in East New Orleans and the Kenner corridor has been growing steadily, and many of our calls from those areas involve adult children arranging installations for Spanish-speaking parents. Every quote, consent form, and operating manual is available in Spanish. Zero surcharge.

A word from Luis

Most New Orleans families call me after something has already happened — a fall on the narrow shotgun stairs in the Bywater, a grandmother who hasn’t been to the second floor of her Garden District double since the knee surgery, a son calling from Atlanta worried about his mother alone in a raised Gentilly cottage twenty years after Katrina.

My promise is simple: I’ll be at your door inside 24 hours, I’ll measure once, and the written quote is good for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

If your parent is already sleeping downstairs, skipping the second floor, or gripping the banister with both hands on every trip — the staircase is the problem, not the person. A properly installed stairlift in a New Orleans shotgun, double, or raised cottage changes the math overnight: the full house is accessible again, the fall risk drops to near zero, and the family stops holding their breath every time the phone rings.

Call us or fill out the form above. Luis will be at your door within 24 hours, measure your staircase, and leave you with a written quote good for 30 days. No pressure, no follow-up calls, no upsells.
