Stairlift Service Across Mobile County

Mobile County, AL

From the antebellum townhouses of Oakleigh Garden District — where hand-carved 1850s banisters must stay untouched during every install — to the narrow row houses of De Tonti Square, our team has mapped every staircase challenge in Mobile County. Midtown bungalows from the 1930s have some of the tightest stairwells we measure — 28 inches wall-to-wall — requiring compact-profile rails. Spring Hill split-level ranches often need straight runs with swivel-exit seats at carpeted upper landings. West Mobile raised-slab homes on the Gulf side demand outdoor rails with sealed motors and stainless fasteners rated for salt air and hurricane-season humidity. Along Dauphin Island Parkway, post-war housing stock means 1940s-era electrical panels that need a dedicated 20-amp circuit before install day.

Straight

Spring Hill — straight rail on dark hardwood stairs with seat parked at bottom landing

Spring Hill, AL Installed March 2026

Mrs. Washington's 1970s split-level has a straight run of dark oak treads from the front entry up to the bedrooms. We bolted a straight rail to the right side of the open-tread staircase and parked the beige seat at the bottom landing. The warm wood tones of the treads and the rail blend into the entry. Mrs. Washington went upstairs that evening for the first time since her stroke eight months prior.

Oakleigh Garden District — curved rail bends around upper-floor balustrade in 1852 townhouse

Oakleigh Garden District, AL Installed February 2026

An 1852 antebellum townhouse with a 90-degree curve at the upper landing where the staircase meets a half-wall balustrade. We laser-scanned the turn, fabricated a curved rail that bends around the balustrade, and parked the brown-upholstered seat at the top-floor hallway. Mrs. Fontaine steps off onto the upstairs landing with the chandelier overhead and her framed family portraits on the wall. Her garden club walked right past it.

Midtown bungalow — compact-profile rail in a tight stairwell with stone treads

Midtown, AL Installed January 2026

A 1930s Midtown bungalow with stone-tread stairs beside a wooden sideboard with a potted plant at the landing. The stairwell is one of the tightest in our Mobile portfolio at 28 inches wall-to-wall. We fitted a compact-profile straight rail with the brown-upholstered seat parked at the bottom next to the sideboard. Folded chair clears the opposite wall by three and a half inches. Traditional cottage charm preserved.

West Mobile — outdoor porch lift on a raised Gulf Coast stone-paved entry

West Mobile, AL Installed December 2025

A 1990s raised-slab home in West Mobile with a stone-paved front entry and covered porch steps. Mr. Carter, a retired Coast Guard veteran, qualified for the HISA grant. We installed a weather-resistant cream seat on an outdoor rail over the natural stone paving, with sealed motor housing and stainless hardware rated for Gulf Coast salt air. The lift rides from the stone walkway up to the front porch in daylight and has handled two full hurricane seasons on battery backup.

Prichard — straight rail on carpeted stairs with seat matching carpet tones

Prichard, AL Installed November 2025

A post-war ranch in Prichard with carpeted stairs leading to a tiled landing at the bottom. The brown-upholstered seat blends with the warm carpet tones on the treads. We bolted the straight rail through the carpet into the stair structure, confirmed clearance past the wall-mounted light switches, and tested the battery backup through a simulated outage. Standard residential install — clean, quiet, three hours start to finish.

Platform Lift

Tillmans Corner — indoor wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Tillmans Corner, AL Installed October 2025

The Mitchell family's son uses a power wheelchair and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift on an indoor stairway — a flat black anti-slip platform with high-visibility yellow safety edges and a white handrail. The orange-toned walls and window light frame the lift. The platform folds up when unused and rides the indoor stairway to the upper floor. No service calls through one full hurricane season.

Common Questions

Everything Mobile Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Mobile right now?

Straight rails in standard Mobile homes run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for Oakleigh homes with landing turns and De Tonti Square split-staircases run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is custom-manufactured. Outdoor and weather-sealed models for raised Gulf Coast entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and first service visit.

Does hurricane and salt-air protection cost extra?

No. Every Mobile County install ships with sealed IP54 motor housings, stainless-steel fasteners, and humidity-rated lubricant as baseline spec. Standard zinc-plated hardware corrodes within two seasons this close to Mobile Bay. The sealed motor housing has prevented dozens of warranty claims during the last two hurricane seasons.

Are prices different for historic district homes in Mobile?

Equipment prices are the same across Mobile County. What can vary slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: Oakleigh Garden District homes with extremely narrow original staircases requiring compact-profile equipment, ARB approval timelines in Mobile Historic Development Commission districts, and extra masonry anchoring needed for 1850s-era tread construction in some De Tonti Square townhouses. We tell you the line items upfront.

Any hidden fees for the historic review process in Mobile?

Our quote includes the ARB paperwork for homeowners in the Oakleigh Garden, De Tonti Square, and Church Street East historic districts. For interior stairlifts, no ARB review is needed — the commission only reviews exterior-visible modifications. If you need an outdoor porch lift on a contributing historic structure, we prepare the ARB application packet at no charge and attend the review meeting with you.

A word from Luis

Most Mobile families call me after a near-miss on stairs. My job is simple: measure once, give you a price honored for 30 days. No pressure, no upsells.

I've worked in every pocket of Mobile County — from the 1850s heart-pine treads in Oakleigh Garden District to the post-war bungalows in Midtown with 28-inch stairwells. I know which homes need compact-profile rails, which historic addresses fall under ARB jurisdiction, and which Gulf Coast entries need stainless hardware and sealed motors to survive hurricane season.

If your parent fell last week or your spouse is sleeping downstairs because the stairs aren't safe anymore, call me. I'll be at your house within 24 hours.
