Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Ottawa County

Ottawa County, OK

We install stairlifts across Miami and Ottawa County — from the historic two-story homes along Rockdale Street, where original oak staircases often measure 32 to 36 inches wide, to the mid-century ranches and split-levels in Country Club Estates. In Castle Park and Brookside, many homes have a single straight flight with carpeted treads — a 3-hour install. Down toward the Neosho River, the Dotyville and Narcissa areas include older frame houses with tighter turns that sometimes need a curved rail. We also serve Commerce (5 miles north), Quapaw (10 miles), Fairland (11 miles), and Grove on Grand Lake (20 miles).

Straight

Straight Rail on Original Hardwood in Rockdale

Rockdale, OK Installed March 2026

This 1920s Craftsman on Rockdale Street has the original dark oak treads — narrow, solid, and slick after a century of wear. Mrs. Kessler, 76, had stopped going upstairs after a December fall. We bolted a straight rail to the treads in about three hours. The beige seat parks at the bottom landing, folded out of the way. No drywall work, no repainting.

Curved

Curved Rail at Upper Landing Near Coleman Theatre

Downtown Historic District, OK Installed February 2026

A two-story home two blocks from the Coleman Theatre, built in 1915, with a staircase that takes a 90-degree turn at the upper landing. The half-wall at the top made the geometry tricky — the rail had to bend and clear the wall without blocking the hallway. After a 1-hour laser measurement, the custom-curved rail arrived three weeks later. The brown seat parks at the top floor, under the chandelier.

Compact Straight Rail in Dotyville Cottage

Dotyville, OK Installed January 2026

A compact cottage near the Neosho River with stone-faced treads and a wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs. The staircase runs straight but the clearance is tight — the sideboard sits just 14 inches from the first step. We used a slim-rail model and parked the brown seat parallel to the sideboard, leaving the walkway open. Stone treads needed masonry-bit drilling, but the install was standard — 3.5 hours.

Outdoor

Weather-Sealed Outdoor Lift Near Grand Lake

Grove/Grand Lake area, OK Installed October 2025

Six stone-paved steps lead from the driveway to the front porch of this Grand Lake-area home. The homeowner wanted access for his mother, who uses a walker and couldn't manage the uneven stone. We installed an IP55-rated outdoor stairlift with a cream seat, built for northeast Oklahoma ice and summer humidity.

Carpeted Straight Rail in Country Club Estates

Country Club Estates, OK Installed April 2026

A mid-century home in Country Club Estates with beige carpeted stairs to the upper bedrooms. The brown seat blends into the carpet tones, barely visible from the living room. The straight rail runs 13 feet along the right side, bolted into the treads through the carpet and padding. Standard residential install — three hours, plug into the hallway outlet, test all stops. Mr. Whitfield, recovering from hip surgery, used it within an hour.

Platform Lift

Indoor Wheelchair Platform in Castle Park

Castle Park, OK Installed December 2025

This Castle Park home has a straight 15-foot staircase with a tiled floor at the base. The homeowner's son uses a wheelchair and had been carried upstairs by family for two years. We installed an indoor inclined platform lift — flat black deck, yellow safety edges, white handrail — that carries the wheelchair up at a steady pace, rated to 600 lb. The platform folds up vertically when parked. Six-hour install.

Common Questions

Everything Miami Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

How much does a stairlift cost in Miami, Oklahoma?

A straight stairlift for a single flight starts at $2,800 installed. Curved stairlifts, custom-built to match landings and turns, start at $9,000. Outdoor units for porch or entry steps start at $4,000. Heavy-duty models rated to 600 pounds start at $5,050. All prices include the in-home measurement, the rail, the seat, installation, and a 5-year warranty on the motor with lifetime on the rail.

Are there any hidden fees or recurring costs?

No. The quote you get after the in-home assessment is the final price — it includes the rail, the chair, labor, and the warranty. There are no monthly service fees, no subscription, and no surprise add-ons. The only ongoing cost is an annual check of the battery and rail, which runs about the same as an HVAC tune-up.

Why does a curved stairlift cost more than a straight one?

A curved stairlift rail is made for your staircase specifically. After a 1-hour laser measurement on site, the rail is bent at the factory to match every turn, landing, and angle of your stairs. That custom fabrication adds to the cost and the lead time — usually 2 to 3 weeks from measurement to install. A straight rail ships in 3 to 5 days.

Does insurance cover a stairlift in Miami?

Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) does not cover stairlifts — it classifies them as home modifications, not durable medical equipment. Some Medicare Advantage plans offer a home-modification benefit. Oklahoma's ADvantage Medicaid waiver covers environmental modifications, including stairlifts, for eligible seniors and adults with disabilities. Private long-term-care policies sometimes include home-modification coverage.

A word from Luis

Miami homes run the full range — century-old Craftsman bungalows off Rockdale with narrow, steep staircases, mid-century split-levels in Country Club Estates with a turn at the landing, and newer single-story builds near the INTEGRIS campus. I've measured stairs in just about every corner of Ottawa County. On Route 66-era houses, the treads are often original oak, and we bolt the rail straight into them — no wall work, no drywall repair. The curved-rail installs take a little longer, about a day total, because we laser-measure every turn on site.

What catches people off guard here is how well the outdoor units hold up. We get ice storms in January and 95-degree humidity in August. The outdoor stairlift we install on porch steps near Grand Lake handles both — IP55-sealed, and the 4Ah battery runs it through a power outage. If you're in one of the older two-story homes downtown and thinking about a lift, call me. I'll come out, take measurements, and give you a real number — no pressure.

— Luis Ramírez, Miami
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Miami has more seniors living at home than the state average — about 18% of Ottawa County is 65 or older — and the housing stock is some of the oldest in the region, with a median home age of 59 years. That combination means a lot of staircases that weren't built with aging in place in mind. A straight stairlift runs from $2,800, a curved one from $9,000, and both come with battery backup that keeps the lift moving through the kind of ice-storm outage northeast Oklahoma gets every few winters.

We handle the whole thing — measurement, install (usually same-day or next-day for straight rails), and the funding paperwork. Whether you're using the HISA grant through the Vinita VA Clinic or applying through Oklahoma's ADvantage waiver program, Luis walks you through it. Call or fill out the form — we'll schedule a free assessment at your home, no obligation.
